Even as a regular eater of meat, I found this dish so satisfying and filling. In case you don't know, kushery is a whole load of carbs; the dish has rice, macaroni, lentils, a slightly spicy tomato sauce, garlic vinegar, chickpeas, and crispy fried onions. The whole mixture altogether was so tasty, and I would totally get this again. I also ordered the hibiscus punch ($6), which was refreshing and not too sweet. And even though I already had a bunch of carbs with the kushery, I got the Egyptian bread pudding ($8), which was very different from the bread pudding I typically see at restaurants around here. It consisted of toasted croissant pieces that were soaked in a creamy sweet milk; the dessert also came with a bunch of nuts, raisins, and whipped cream. It wasn't as rich or sweet as other kinds of bread pudding I've had, but it was still a tasty dessert. The service was a little slow, so I wouldn't suggest dining in here if you need to get a quick meal. But the food was good, and the staff was friendly, so if you have time for a relaxed meal, give the restaurant a try. Note - there were some slight price discrepancies between the menu and final receipt for my drink and dessert, but I know prices are really volatile in these crazy times, and the price discrepancies were small.

Amazingly friendly service!…read more The siups are all so good, ive tried almost all of them, and the bread is amazing as well. All of their specials are very good I cant tell you how much I love the cabbage rolls, and the chicken paprikash. They were so good i ate them cold after I brought them home. So good!

The restaurant atmosphere is unpretentious, no-frills, unadorned (save for some beautiful photos up front of presumably ancestors of the people who own / operate it today). My meal started with a basket of white bread. Soft, neatly sliced, and plenty of butter with it. The special that day was rolled cabbage with soup. I ordered beef noodle (they brought out chicken instead, but still enjoyed it). The stuffed cabbage was terrific - the server explained that they pickle the cabbage before rolling it, which gives a nice mixture of tomato and slightly sour flavor. I really enjoyed it. The dumplings that came with it were pretty good too. Very satisfying meal at a good price. They also serve beer and wine if you want it. The apple pie was alright; it was sweet enough and had fresh apples, butter could have used some spice and crust cooked longer. But overall a great spot and I'd recommend it.

It featured a pan-seared veal cutlet finished in a lemon butter white wine sauce, accented with capers The spaghetti served alongside was delicious and perfectly prepared. We also enjoyed an order of the rigatoni and meatballs, which were also packed with fabulous flavor and tasted like authentic family recipes. The restaurant offers lovely indoor as well as al fresco dining, creating a relaxed and inviting atmosphere. To finish the meal, we enjoyed a slice of their white cheesecake, an excellent choice for dessert. While waiting for the to go order, I also enjoyed a few sips of their wonderful limoncello which was terrific! What truly made the restaurant special was the friendly, professional staff. We also loved discovering the charm of Cleveland's Little Italy and look forward to returning. As someone who helps organize the annual Festa Italia in Monterey, California, it made me smile to experience this historic Italian neighborhood with its welcoming atmosphere, rich heritage, and authentic character. Delicious food, wonderful hospitality, great recipes, and a charming setting make Agostino's a restaurant we highly recommend. Five stars!

When I questioned the charge, I was told it was actually a mandatory 20% gratuity. The problem is nobody mentioned that upfront, and I almost tipped another 20% on top of it. I've seen automatic gratuities for large parties, but never for a single glass of wine at the bar, nor labled some mysterious name trying to trick the customer. I guess Columbus Day is now a mandatory tipping holiday. I have no problem tipping and generally tip well, but I'd prefer to know when it's already included. Nothing wrong with the wine, but the lack of transparency left a bad taste.

Very sadly, I just saw that the two other locations are closing immediately, just 1 day after our Valentine's Day dinner at the Larchmere location - now officially, the only one left standing. The Lakewood Barroco was in my top 5 favorite restaurants in all of Cleveland and I am super bummed. I hope this last location will stay open for a very long time. As for the Barroco food, it was superb. We went all out and tried a few things on the menu. We aren't big drinkers but I sipped on a strawberry mojito with lots of real strawberries throughout ($14) and my bf enjoyed the "Iguana," a pretty little rum cocktail ($12). We shared the shrimp device and tostones appetizer ($18). The tostones reminded me of a structurally sound latke, or potato pancake! Our shrimp ceviche was doused in lemon juice and mixed with lots of healthy vegetables. This was large enough to be an entree for a healthy eater! However, we still had lots of room in our tummies and we each got our own main dish. I stuck to the arepa and yucca fries combo I love so much, although I switched it up and ordered a different arepa than my usual. I liked my "Ropa Vieja," or braised beef arepa ($22), fine but I prefer my usual pulled pork arepa much much more. The braised beef arepa was like a sloppy Joe in an arepa. Made for pretty good leftovers though! My beloved was feeling adventurous and treated himself to a nice and fatty cut of the Carne Asada and Calentado entree ($38). After tax and tip, our bill was a hefty $130 for the two of us. I'd say that the food, the service, and the ambiance made it worth it though and I hope it continues to stay open so we can come back!!
