Such delicious food! I love that everything on the menu is vegetarian, and they have many items I haven't seen at other area Indian restaurants. My friends and I ordered a ton of food: the paneer 65 appetizer (my favorite thing we ordered!), the samosa chaat, veggie korma, malai kofta, paneer tikka masala, and a bread basket. Everything was great, though the korma was a bit sweet for me. The server didn't ask for our preferred spice level , so I assume everything was mild. But it was very delish and the right level of spice for me (except for the korma). Only not a 5 star review because our server seemed pretty grumpy and unhappy haha but a gentleman whom I believe was the owner came over multiple times to ask how our food was and recommended some dishes for us as it was our first time in. I have been to Honest Restaurant a couple of times and I find it an interesting place to get Indian Food. Located in a stand alone building that was probably a Friendly's before the outside and the inside is pretty generic, nice and clean, but certainly no indication of what is being served. Honest is a vegetarian Indian restaurant with a menu that is different than any other Indian restaurant in the area. The menu runs a variety from versions of curries, sandwiches, Indo/Chinese and even pizzas. There are a number of items of Indian street food and the overall vibe is more of the kind of modern Indian casual restaurant you might actually find in India, which makes sense since this is a local franchise of a chain that started in India. Not surprisingly the times I have visited the clientele was primarily Asian. During my visits I have tried a number of items and while I found the sandwiches were good, what were my favorites were the curries and the Chinese style noodles. A number of the items were flavored with very authentic spicing so you need to be careful if you are hot spice sensitive; I really enjoyed the spiciness, but not everyone will. Overall Honest Restaurant is a great alternative to most of the other Indian restaurants in the area. The atmosphere is casual, the food is very good with some options not usually available, prices are moderate and service is good. I ordered Benne Dosa from the given menu at restaurant which clearly mention potato and podi stuffing. It took 35 minutes to get the order with only 3 tables occupied . When the order was received it did not any potato stuffing. When we asked the restaurant, the reason was given i need to specify that i need potato? Decent vegetarian food in Cleveland. This is a part of the chain of Honest restaurants all over the country. We ordered the vada pav, kachori chaat, honest special pav bhaji, Mysore sada dosa, masala dosa and jaljeera. The vada pav was very good and authentic to what I've been used to back home in India. The dosas were good too. The Honest special pav bhaji had too many raisins and was on the sweeter side even though I had asked for a spicy version. The kachori chaat was just ok. The jaljeera was a little artificial tasting as compared to what I have in India. The service was quick. They were nice but overtly pleasant. The ambiance is very simple. There is a parking lot outside, which is nice. If you are wanting Indian vegetarian food without a lot of frills, this is the place. I love the food here. Their gobi Manchurian is my favorite thing to get on the menu. They will also sometimes have specials like momos which are also delicious. You have to go in with expectations that you won't have the best of service especially on a Friday/Saturday when it's busy. But the food makes it worth it! read more

Extremely delicious and affordable. We ordered the Golbi Manchurian and Butter Paneer and HOLY SH** it was so rich, creamy, well spiced, some of the best Indian food I've had. Also ordered a buy 1 get 1 dosa and that was so warm and filling. It's a hybrid of traditional service and self-service (you grab your to-go boxes and such), but our waitress was kind and friendly. Y'all, this was one of my favorite meals of 2024. Everything from start to finish was incredible and I've been daydreaming about going back every day. I started my meal with the pani puri which was perfection. You make each individual bite yourself and everything was flavored perfectly. For my main course, I had the Malai Kofta, this is my go-to meal at Indian restaurants so I had to order it as my first time here. I'm so glad I did because it was heaven in my mouth. The sauce is so silky, sweet, and spicy, and the kofta was soft and delectable. I ordered a dessert of kesar pista falooda which seemed to have been from the Gods. This pistachio, saffron, dried fruit masterpiece was so good that I drank it fast enough to give me a stomach ache. I give this experience 100% and cannot wait to go back and try more things from the menu! read more

Met a friend for lunch who had been there previously, which is a good sign. It is a large will plenty of seats; however, when we arrived, we were the only people in the restaurant. I was a little nervous because of lack of customers. The waiter gave us the menu, which had many Indian dishes, I have never seen on other menus. We almost didn't find this place because it gives off a breakfast chain vibe from the outside. I liked the sea foam green booths and chairs and the wallpaper was really nice. Place looked clean. The food we ordered was delicious and I made a point to order things we normally would get at our local Indian restaurant. We ordered Sev Puri, my favorite and something i would order again. It was the perfect app, light and refreshing and packed with flavor. Up next was the Veg Jaipur curry. We ordered it medium and it was seasoned perfectly. Spicy but not overwhelming and full of flavor. We also ordered the Spring Dosa, unfortunately I thought the menu meant it was vegan as is not that I had to request it vegan. It came with cheese on it. My wife didn't mind and enjoyed a couple pieces then we packed the rest to take home for our kids. They all enjoyed it. Roti and naan we also had and enjoyed as well as a chai tea for my wife on the way out. Everything was great. What I want to point out is the dishes marked as vegan aren't necessarily already vegan, you need to ask. I didn't and ended up with a dish I wanted to try. It couldn't. Honestly this is one of the few Indian places that has some real good authentic Indian spices and flavors, oh and they're purely vegetarian. My favorite things to eat here are - Manchow Soup, all of their dosa varieties, vada pav, pav bhaji, most of their chaat items ( Chinese bhel, sev puri, Pani puri), noodles and Manchurian (both dry and gravy). The place is huge yet simple, they're usually pretty busy so I prefer to order takeout instead. Once you get your orders in the service is pretty quick though. The only thing I was disappointed with was Shrikhand - which is a sweet; hung yogurt mixed with nuts flavoured with cardamom and saffron. It was neither sweet jor had flavors of cardamom or saffron. I got take out from here earlier this week and it was absolutely delicious! I tried the honest Thali so I could get a taste of some of their curries and other items and it was phenomenal. The worst experience ever. My friend and I were not welcomed and treated as if they preferred that we were not there Friday evening, November 1, 2024. My friend and I are African American, and it was clear from the moment we walked in until the moment we left in disgust, without ordering food, that we were not welcome there. So excited to have Honest in CLE now! This pure vegetarian place has origins in India and now expanding to the US. They have Jain and Swaminarayan food options too. I first tried it in NY and loved how authentic the food was. They serve a mix of Indian street food. Got the pav bhaji to go! A good hearty option on a cold evening. Also tried the bhakri pizza. A crispy bhakri (like a roti) topped with tomato sauce, green peppers, onions, and mail cheese. This was a great snack! This place has the worst service. Not to mention they serve their rice "room temperature" which comes out rather cold and they tell you that that is their custom and the hot food balances it out. I have never heard of this anywhere. What if you just order rice as a meal. Is it cold? Quite ridiculous to pay for cold food. And then they upcharge you on the price of your meal and say that the menu is not updated. Well update your menu! That isn't my fault and they want to argue with you about it to change it.
