Restaurant was very clean, staff was so friendly and the food was SO good. I got the fried chicken pita and it came out very warm, the pita bread was so soft and the chicken was very flavorful. Saturday morning breakfast was delicious. I had biscuits and gravy w/2 eggs. My daughter had an omelet, hash browns and a biscuit. Both our plates were completely 100% clean when we were done. Staff was friendly and helpful. Our waitress made appropriate suggestions. The cost is very fair. Restaurant was very busy but that did not slow the service even a little bit. The atmosphere is nice and offers many seating options. (inside, lanai, or outdoor patio). I would recommend Mel's Grill and will be back for more! read more

Mel's Grill hides in plain sight on Sashabaw Rd. It's name could suggest Coneys or cocktails. Well stopping in after passing it for ages I can tell you it's Coneys and that's fine. The place was hopping on a late Saturday morning with nearly every table full. But the tables seemed to turn quickly so i was seated immediately. The menu had all of the casual dining staples with a twist. I opted for a southern eggs Benedict. What's that you ask? Well it's 2 biscuits with a sausage patty and poached egg on each smothered in biscuit gravy! Plus a side of crispy hash browns! I ate like I was going to the chair! This was truly the brunch moment we needed when my friend and I were in the area for the Antique Festival! We walked in and we're able to quickly sit in the patio. I had the western omelet as a skillet and was wowed by the huge portion! Everything tasted so fresh and the eggs were perfectly fluffy! Service was great! We have been meaning to try out Mel's and finally had a chance. And now we will be back again for sure. The staff is incredibly attentive and quick to notice anything needing refills. Even though the grill was busy at lunch our food (two breakfast plates and a patty melt) came out blazingly fast. And it was all prepared very well. The grill has a traditional diner like vibe in the main part. But they also have a very large heated enclosed patio and then a real patio beyond that. The prices are very reasonable, especially considering how generous the serving size is. Prices are comparable to fast food meals but so much better. You should check it out. read more

Inconsistent is the best way to describe Mel's Grill. I've ordered takeout a few times now so I have no idea what the service or ambience is like, that being said I can comment on the food. I've ordered the same thing 3-4 times, grilled chicken sandwich, each time it has been drastically different. One day there's pickles, the next there isn't, one day there's a mayo packet, then there's a mayo and mustard packet but no pickles, then there's nothing but dry chicken. So we usually go to Pete's or Kirby's when visiting the area and wanting a coney. However we decided to give Mel's a shot. So while the service was good unfortunately did not enjoy the coney as much. The dog did not have the snap I like and the chili sauce was a little too salty for my taste. Although not a fan of their coneys I would recommend Mel's for breakfast. We met a lot of family at Mel's for breakfast and everything we ordered was delicious. I had the Road Trip with their corn beef hash which was excellent. Also tried their Kentucky hash and it was also very good. So while I would give 2 stars for the coneys, I would give them 4 stars for their breakfast. Hence I settled on 3 stars overall! read more

Love Loaded tots and the service is beyond special. Dipping the quesadilla in tortilla soup is also the best! Everything is great there.

We were looking for someplace to have breakfast after dropping my truck off to have the windows tinted. Mel's Grill was about 10 minutes away so we took the chance. Boy we're we glad we did. We were promptly greeted asked where we'd like to sit. We chose the beautiful patio. It was hot & sunny out, yet found a great table, under a shady tree. It Was Perfect. This is exactly what you expect from a diner. Busy, chaotic, but quick service, and food that isn't pretending to be something it's not. We arrived on Sunday at 10:30 and were promptly greeted by a gentleman who was gathering orders, as there was a line of several groups and they were full. They were hustling to clean tables as soon as people were leaving and the greeter was on top of grabbing people and checking on those who had gone to their car to wait (it was a frosty 20 degrees out and there isn't much space to wait so some were outside). Most of us only ended up waiting 5 minutes. Our orders were placed and the food arrived in near record time. Our table had waffles with strawberries, sides of bacon, a Mexican omelet (eggs topped with peppers, chili, salsa and sour cream) and and Irish omelet (corned beef hash inside a "wrap" of eggs). The tea is basic Lipton, the coffee is basic coffee. Everything was good, though the corned beef hash was definitely on the salty side. The hash browns had no salt, so you could dress them up as you needed. The bacon was floppy, though if we'd have thought to ask for extra crispy, I'm sure they would have done it, but our kids gobbled it up anyway). The sourdough toast was extra sour and perfect with the orange marmalade at the table (other options available). The service was quick, the prices were good and we left full and happy. Definitely recommended to anyone who needs a filling breakfast. read more

Came here for a quick breakfast. My breakfast item had a good variety of veggies and hash browns and it was topped with cheese but the cheese was not melted. At least melt the cheese before putting the egg on top. The egg also tasted super greasy. I get that it's a fried egg but you should not be able to taste stale grease on your eggs. I think it was called "the big joe" The French toast on the other hand was very good and at least made half my meal worth it. Also, from what I remember the place was very clean. read more

Nice breakfast place. I got a chicken Florentine omelette. Real grilled chicken breast cut up with fresh spinach. It was pretty busy but good service. Nothing mind blowing but a nice solid breakfast. Downside was it was named Mel's dinner and my waitress was not a sassy lady named Flo who told me to kiss her grits. I suppose you can't have everything. I think that Mel's is great. It's a breakfast and lunch only spot, and they do a good breakfast. Their pancakes are fluffy and delicious. The hash browns are also yummy, slightly crispy just how I like them. The spinach feta egg white omelet was okay. Mel's uses chopped spinach, and it seemed like mostly stems. Perhaps they're best for eggs cooked to order and not vegetable omelets! Overall I think this is a solid breakfast joint and definitely recommend it. read more
