I must say though, the haddock was cooked perfectly. The potatoes and veggies were also cooked well. Nothing was overly exciting but tasted fine. I'd say better than most banquet type meals. Everone loved the boat-bar and the decorum of the space, really a neat little area for folks to hang out and enjoy! Without a doubt if we had to do it all over again, we would have no hesitation to book with you! For those who are looking for a place where they do EVERYTHING for you, this is not that kind of place, nor should it be. They do lots of the heavy lifting for you though, thats for sure. But you'll have to do the set up yourselves unless you want hire people to do it for you (ala wedding planner style). And you'll also have to provide your own alcohol permit for the day of your party. Not a big deal, you can get that online through NYS pretty easy, even from being out of state its not a hassle at all. The one drawback, is that there's NO Air Conditioning in the place. And when its hot out, that place can get pretty hot! For years, September months in the Fingerlakes were cooler. But these past few years its been getting hotter and hotter. Our wedding day it was in the mid 80's and muggy so it made it a bit unbearable to be in the back room area (where the band is). When the sun went down, it got a bit cooler, but it was still hot overall in the bldg. If the folks @ CM read this, that is one recommendation I would make - invest in a solid Central Air system for your hall; a system that you could possibly let people rent (in addition) for their party, or just charge a little extra for each party booked. Also, your A/C units in the rental houses on the property are sub-standard. Again, small investment which would make a huge difference for your guests. Went back to front desk and were told they had no clean rooms available. This was 4:30 so 1.5 hours after scheduled check in time. We were given a room to change in for wedding, and advised we would have a room when we got back. At 1:15am we arrived back at inn to find that there is no staff on site and you need ro speak to someone on a kiosk in lobby. After 25 mins of them trying to locate my reservation we finally received room key. The following morning I went to front desk asking for manager. They were zero help. The lady at desk from previous day caught an attitude with me and started yelling saying I needed to understand that they were busy! She blamed the situation on housekeeping. After she was the one who gave us an occupied room. Where are the checks and balances. How should a housekeeper know what room you have assigned out. Their job is to clean the room not assign to guest. I was given an email to the manager who has yet to respond to me. Please do yourself a favor and skip over this disaster of a inn. Only giving 1 star as zero is not an option.

Oh, where shall I begin on this awful stay in this hotel. I checked in Monday night 12/1, I went to…read moremy room (503), and it was super super cold in there, 65 degrees. I tried using my thermostat turning up to 74 degrees, and it didn't kick on at all. After about 30 minutes of waiting for it to turn on, it didn't. I went down the front desk around 10:20 and the lady sent up Scott, to look at my heater, but before he came in my room, I told him "There is a space heater in here, but I don't feel comfortable using it." He responded "Oh, people use them all the time" and offered to bring me another one. I then talked to my boss, and she called the front desk, to talk to whoever. Then at 11:30 the guy called and offered to move me to a different room, I declined because it was already 11:30 and I had quite a bit of things with me. So, at this point, I accepted that I was sleeping with no heat. I bundled up and used the 2nd blanket. It was miserable. The next morning, I go down to check out, and I told the lady at the front desk about my stay and that she was "super sorry and appreciated me telling her." I also explained that I wanted a refund and she told me that her GM had to do that. After leaving my boss called back there and talked to the lady at the front desk, and she used that they offered to move me, but I didn't want to against me. She then, sent my boss to the GM office fully aware that the general Manager wasn't even there yet. We still haven't heard back from the GM, and we will NOT be staying at this hotel ever again.

Never Going Back February 2026…read moreI have been staying at this hotel for years, had birthday parties here, celebrated Christmas's and holidays, and a long long time ago I even used to work there, but it has been awhile since I stayed there prior to Valentine's Day 2026. I am a travel agent and I travel a lot and stay at a lot of hotels. I love to swim and there are only 2 options in Auburn, NY, unfortunately, and I don't care for Hilton's pool the next block over because it is surrounded by windows so the room is cold. However, after last weekend, I will never be staying at this hotel again or any Holiday Inn. We arrived at 4:00pm on Valentine's Day, check-in is at 3:00pm, and the front desk attendant proceeded to tell us they didn't have any rooms ready. Uh......what? It's 4:00. I could understand if we were early or even 5 - 10 minutes after 3:00pm, but we were not. So, he calls housekeeping and finds out that room #203 is ready, directly to the side of the service elevator. Ok, fine. All night long it was "Boom Boom Boom Boom" from the elevator doors slamming shut and mechanical clanking noises etc. and when we turned on the air conditioner to cool down the sweltering room, it sounded like a freight train for the duration it was on. This clunking symphony continued all night (and morning). Fine. I'm not usually bothered by much, but I was definitely annoyed. Don't even get me started about the ridiculous sliding barn door that doesn't lock or actually close in any way so anyone in the entire room can hear EVERY SINGLE NOISE coming from the bathroom. Who in their right mind EVER thought that was tasteful or anything that people WANT?????!!! Then we went to get in the pool, but there were a bunch of kids/people in there, so I decided to wait. Being a plus-sized girl I am not really a big fan of running the hallways in my bathing suit for everyone to see, so my fiance checked the pool every 1/2 hour to see if it had cleared out any. No. Ok, I guess I'll get up early in the morning and go swimming. It should be quieter then. Well, when I got up in the morning, I went to use the black make-up washcloth they give guests to use for makeup removal and when I opened it up, there were crusty bits of God knows what in it, but it looked like morning eye crusties.....not from me or the fiance.......so I couldn't use that disgusting thing. I then realized that we had only been given one set of towels, including one washcloth, for a room for 2 people. Since I couldn't use the makeup washcloth and my fiance had already used the one and only regular washcloth, he had to go hunt down the non-existent housekeeping staff to find a washcloth for me. After this, we finally head out to go down to the pool, and when we get to the main elevator (that comes out right next to the pool..........it is out of order. Are you kidding me? At this point I am starting to get really frustrated that I stayed here and I am about to check-out and go home, but I really still wanted to go swimming since I paid just under $200 to do that, so we headed down the stairs across from the elevator and tried not to freeze to death in our swimming attire while the stairway area temp was about 10 degrees because it is also connected to an outside door at the bottom and the stairways are clearly not heated. Now, on the IHG (Holiday Inn's parent company/owner) app, it states that the pool operating hours are: 9:00am - 8:00pm. Ok, it's 9:30am and we try to open the gate, and it's locked. The sign on the front of the locked gate states that the "Atrium quiet hours are 9:00pm - 9:00am." Ok, it's 9:30am, so fiance heads to the front desk to inquire about getting the gate unlocked. While he is gone, a family with little kids all ready with their bathing suits and swimmies on, comes down to go swimming too. Fiance returns from the front desk, who is refusing to open the pool, and he un-velcros the sign from the gate to take to the front desk to show them what it says. I double check the IHG app to make sure I read the pool hours correctly and the manager at the front desk, Carrie, says that she has to "Verify that" and also that she has "no idea who put that sign there" and proceeds to do nothing but refuse to open the pool. Oh, and by the way, the actual Holiday Inn website also lists the exact same pool operating hours as the IHG app, and the OWNER in their own response to other reviews visible online to the public, specifically states the POOL OPERATING HOURS ARE 9:00am - 8:00am, Carrie. Quiet hours were respected, 9:00pm - 9:00am, there was absolutely nothing else going on that day, and you had multiple people waiting to get in the pool and yet, the great and wonderful Carrie could care less about the little kids excited to go swimming, hospitality or customer service of any kind, or actually knowing what Holiday Inn's own website, app, and owner actually say, and was more interested in being rude and inhospitable. She wanted a wedding with multiple day events (wine tour, welcome party, ceremony on the Cornell campus, two cocktail parties, reception and a brunch). We were also challenged with having 160+ guests from out of town. My daughter didn't want a traditional wedding banquet hall look, she wanted to have farm tables with lush greeneries and flowers, and lounge sofas for people to relax. It was hard to find a place around Ithaca to accommodate so many guests. Tara spent days with us in finding a perfect venue for the wedding. On the day of, we had photographers videographers, multiple banquet coordinators, bus drivers. Tara was amazing in coordinating everything and getting everyone to work together. She had 7 pages of the event schedule. She worked tirelessly to refine it with us, down to when food would be delivered for the bridal party to eat before the ceremony. At the end of the reception, when she saw I was going back to the hotel by myself, she personally drove me back. She then delivered flowers for the next morning's brunch to our B&B at 2am. On top of that, she showed up at the brunch to make sure everything was ok and helped us pack up everything. We had few crisis (or we thought) during the wedding, Tara was able to take care of them for us and more importantly calmed us down. All of our guests told us how much fun they had at the wedding and how beautiful the venue was. I think a lot of it was due to Tara's careful planning and diligence. I would highly recommend Tara as a planner for any special event.

Our venue, the Ithaca Farmers Market, requires an immense amount of planning and organization as you must bring in everything (rentals, food, alcohol, decor) yourself. In addition, set-up time is very limited so it pays off to have a team of vendors who have worked well at the market before and know what they're doing and how run of show should go! While we signed on for the month-of package, Tara was so helpful in providing recommendations for additional vendors throughout our planning process who not only have worked market wedding before, but who would be able to help us create our exact vision for the day. Tara was responsive and always made herself readily available, whether it was well-before the month of our wedding or in the days leading up to it. As a self-described Type-A planner, I was so grateful to have Tara on top of everything especially the day before and the day of the wedding so that I could kick back and relax to enjoy such a special day. She executed everything perfectly, - including when a guest stepped on the bottom of my dress and broke off a bustle hook! Not only did she have safety pins of all sizes on hand, she perfectly pinned the dress back into its proper bustle so nobody could even tell! I can't recommend her highly enough - every couple should be so lucky as to have her support, eye for style, and organization on their big day!
