The Place- Very cool place with an impressive collection of classic cars!…read more I am not particularly into classic cars but thought I would check this place out because it had great reviews and was pretty local to where I am and it did not disappoint. There offer two types of admission tickets. The $5 one is where you walk around yourself but only have access to one of the buildings. It is well worth it to pay the $20 for the guided tour where you get to see both buildings. Tour takes about 90 minutes and is at a leisurely pace. The 2nd building is 3 stories but does have an elevator if needed. Parking- Large private lot with plenty of parking.

I recently worked on a production at Rancho Deluxe in Santa Clarita. This is the perfect location…read moreto work if you're a fan of classic western movies or period piece TV shows. This location ranch is easily accessible via Placerita Canyon, off the 14 Freeway. Rancho Deluxe, is a beautiful property with stunning views of the surrounding mountains, and it's filled with all sorts of older set pieces, vintage vehicles and some livestock including cows and horses, also keep an eye out for Deer in the mountains. A highlight of working at Rancho Deluxe was walking around the property and exploring the old sets like old set homes, a cemetery or the western town, It was just like stepping back in time to the Wild West! There are also a variety of other filming sets located on the ranch. A Military Base, Palace Saloon, different era Shoot Homes, storefronts, and older farm homes that have been preserved and restored to their original appearance, there is also a small lake and a flowing river cuts through the entire property. At some points you may have to drive through the river if it rains to get to your set location. Rancho Deluxe is mostly used for TV shows, movie productions, commercials and reality shows, but this location also makes great opportunities for photography and special events, such as weddings or corporate events. The picturesque scenery and unique ambiance make it a great location for capturing memorable photos or hosting an unforgettable event. Overall, after spending almost a week filming here I had a fantastic time at Rancho Deluxe, it can be cold in the mornings in the winter but warms up in the afternoons, when the sun comes out. Also, if you'r there when it rains it gets very muddy, wear proper footwear, boots or all terrain shoe works best. I would definitely recommend this location to anyone who loves old west movie sets, beautiful scenic views and unique locations, this is definitely the place to go!

Midge was my…read moreamazing tour guide and she was full of historical details and funny anecdotes about the Picos and Lankershims. This really is a must-visit if you're a history buff or into antiques or just want to get a small dose of local culture. The Andres Pico Adobe was built in 1834 and is one of the oldest adobe structures in Los Angeles (the other is at Olvera Street). It's also known as the Romulo Pico Adobe (the son of Andres). It is filled with antiques: a working player piano, antique irons, toasters, clothing and shoes, furniture, sewing machines and an old phonograph that plays recordings on wax rolls. The term, "Put a sock in it" was explained to me by Midge when I asked about the rolled up socks next to the phonograph. Since there was no volume control, you literally put a sock in it to muffle the noise! The Lankershim Reading Room, built in 1904, had been lovingly restored and is on site. It's really beautiful and as Midge said, "If these walls could talk!" Lots of famous people have visited it, back in the day. The Railroad Shanty, built in 1914, is another quaint reminder of the era when trains were the main mode of transportation. The Native American Indian Gallery is chock full of arrowheads and other interesting bits and it's even been blessed by the local tribesmen. Please visit- it's free- and leave a donation! The organizations they brought in were cool and helpful! I'm going to have to come to Santa Clarita's series celebrating different nations, for instance. My wife and I particularly enjoyed the historical elements - the reenactments of the old western trail camp was amazing...everybody was wearing period-appropriate attire and it was so cool to see the covered wagons, lovingly restored and outfitted with chuckwagon supplies. My only hangup here is the same I often have with festivals here in SoCal, which is that the food vendors are basically price gouging. I had trouble finding any food item that was under 20 dollars that wasn't a drink, and many were smaller portions than you'd get from down the street for 10-12 bucks at the same quality level. If they could figure that out better, I think this would be a 5 out of 5 for me. If they don't, I guess we'll plan to eat before coming. Either way, I'll be back. This was a blast!
