It was our first time seeing Circus Vargas. We were drawn in by the pirate theme and were pleasantly surprised at how entertaining it was. The trampoline act on the pirate ship was very delightful and unique. We chose the cheaper seats in the bleachers and there were many, many, many young kids in the crowd, making it difficult to concentrate on the show sometimes. But we still enjoyed ourselves when we tune the noise around us out.

It'd been quite some time since I've been to the circus, so I was very surprised when I saw a great big circus tent at the mall. When I investigated, I figured I'd take a shot and I bought a ticket. I'm glad I did, as it was pretty darn awesome. On the way in I bought a bag of cotton candy, a hot dog and a lemonade. (I'd definitely advise the cotton candy, but not so much the hot dog or lemonade they were "meh") The circus was great, there were hooly-hoop-girls, there was a juggling kid, there was a twirly-on-a-rope-in-the-air couple, there was a motorcycles-in-a-steel-ball-cage-family, there was a trapeze family, there was a clown with audience participation gags, and even a human cannonball at the end. Dos Hours of awesome and crazy stunts, each and every one looked like it would either hurt me terribly, or make me puke if I tried to attempt any of them. I had a great view, as the tiny center ring was placed so absolutely everybody had good seats. Even the cheap seats were at best, 50 feet from the ring. I'm very glad I took a chance and bought a ticket, because I had a lot of fun. It was also kinda neat to see how everybody had a part in everything. The flying trapeze family helped out to set up the net, and help to break it down, they were also in the big opening and closing number. The whole production is a well run machine. The kids in the crowd looked like they loved it. Overall it looked like it had a family feel. The performances were completed by families. The motorcycle ball was a family, the trapeze people were a family, and the dude who balanced stuff on his face had his family in the circus as well. It wasn't 100% polished, which was kinda a neat aspect. I enjoyed that alot. The people were all fifth and sixth and seventh generation performers, and all pulled off 99.9% of the stuff they attempted to pull off. Once or twice there was a dropped ball, or hooly-hoop. But, for the most part everybody hit their marks and succeeded in the things they were doing. If it happens to set up in Valencia again, I'll most definitively go back. Well worth the $35 ticket. I think my favorite was the 10 year old motorcycle-cage-trick. It was very darned impressive. Good job Circus Vargas. Good job.

It was entertaining but I wish it was more kid friendly. I'm glad I was able to get the $10 tickets because I wouldn't pay more than that.

My youngest son is a natural performer and although he has an agent, prior to enrollment, I began to take notice that he really needed to gain more confidence and truly learn and cultivate his skill set. I'd driven past this location so many times over the years and even knew tons of kids who attended but never inquired. I'd always thought SCV is so off the grid what do they know about Hollywood? just another company taking peoples money claiming they have all these connections getting folks hopes up. But after wanting to yank my hair out managing my son's auditions I decided I go check them out. And I would have never imagined how one decision could change the trajectory of my thinking and open up so many opportunity. I will say, if you attempt to get pricing info over the phone, that's not gonna happen. You will be directed to Mike Josten, the owner. He's been in business over 20 years in the city, please feel free to check out his accreditations with the City (like Chamber of Commerce, etc.). It's a business people, I've seen comments like "he's a Salesman" but if you already have your mind set to buy something .. you will and if you don't, you won't. You can't blame a business owner for doing his job selling his business. You came to him. He's not scouting and cold calling. Mike was everything I'd imagined. High energy, friendly, passionate and so so encouraging. I've never met a stranger so kind, he's funny too and just really wanting to help support peoples dreams. And that all truly mattered to me. Without a doubt this school is it. When you see comments saying everyone in there gives a family vibe, it's true. All the students love Mike! He jokes and laughs with them, they respect him and everyone PERFORMS. And The teachers get to it! They supply the trainings, and resources all the way up to helping you land an agent. There are legit SAG/AFTRA agents that scout EVERY SAT at the school. Being on the business side of the entertainment business, I know this place is a powerhouse for anyone wanting to take their craft serious and are really looking to get out there. You just have to bring your skill set and show up! Put in the work. I love it, and I don't think I've ever been so grateful to a team of people for supporting me and my baby side by side and also breathing life back into my own dreams and aspirations!

She enjoys the acting classes, the voice overs, teen runway, on-camera scene practices, etc. She loves it, loves it, LOVES it!!! To add on, she has made some great friends already in the 2 months that she has been here. She just participated in a fashion show, so this place keeps her BUSY! The teachers are awesome. They are encouraging and kind. All of the instructors have professional backgrounds and it's wonderful that they are sharing it with our kids. There are agents that come weekly looking for talent. SCSOPA is preparing her for a shot in the industry! We also see her confidence building. She has met with a couple agents and is wanted by both. We will see;). Mike, the owner is warm, hilarious, and full of energy. Mike and his team are passionate about the kids and their future in show biz. So far, we believe this is the best thing we have done for our daughter so far.

We went to a Sunday matinee to see A Couple of Blaguards presented by The Tavern Brawlers. It was a two-man show with very funny stories and songs. The theatre seats about 80. There is a parking lot in back and street parking as well. There are plenty of eateries to choose from if you want to walk around Old Town Newhall before or after the shows. Dear Reader, To anyone reviewing Escape Theater as a…read morepotential extracurricular opportunity for their child, I feel compelled to share information that may spare others the disappointment my compatriots and several others have experienced. As a parent of young children, I initially viewed Escape Theater as a creative and enriching environment. That perception changed significantly after receiving multiple firsthand accounts from parents and children who have participated there. These accounts reveal an organizational culture characterized less by mentorship and understanding, and more by rigid control coupled with a striking lack of empathy. Of particular concern is the theater's inflexible zero-tolerance policy regarding missed rehearsals. Any parent familiar with children understands that illness is not an exception but an inevitability. Expecting families to prioritize attendance over health is not only unrealistic, but irresponsible. No reasonable parent wishes for their child to become "patient zero" in a classroom--or a rehearsal space. Even if one were willing to overlook the dismissive and demoralizing manner in which children are reportedly treated, there remain troubling questions regarding the theater's financial practices. At minimum, these matters appear questionable enough to warrant the attention of appropriate oversight. Families are encouraged to think carefully before investing their time, trust, and hard-earned money. In short, parents seeking a supportive, ethical, and child-centered environment would be wise to continue their search elsewhere. Sincerely, A Concerned Parent

Elizabeth has completely lost focus of what matters to theater, children, and families…read more The kids aren't allowed to miss more than one rehearsal and, when one of the children was SICK WITH THE FLU and missed two rehearsals she took that child's part from them. Elizabeth was so rule obsessed and drunk on her own power she would rather jeopardize the health of a child and the rest of the cast than make an exception. That little girl she stole the part from had been at every other rehearsal, never late, and was not only dedicated to her role but beyond excited to perform. Now that child is absolutely devastated. Crushed because her parents put her health first. This is NOT how you foster a love of theater in a young child. Elizabeth makes theater stressful and unpleasant for both parents and children. Save your child the pain. Save yourself the stress. Do NOT give your hard earned money to these people.

I've been to many plays and drama acts from my past. The only reason I know of this place is…read morebecause of someone I know named Zony Gordon. She's an artist who creates painting in newhall and her exhibits are always around or inside of this Guild theater. Now, my sister knows one of the performers who is a lead in various acts and I started to become more aware of the talent of these artists. I enjoy them more than movies because it is real acting in person and the people here are quite skilled in singing, dancing and acting as a whole and I question why they aren't in movies or even tv shows. Hell, even in Hollywood. I enjoyed the play "cats" today as I have seen it many times probably 7 or 8 times at pantages, cruise ships and other drama club events. Now, the one here is exceptional although some of the dancers were out of breath when dancing in some scenes and more or less slower than the original. I own the movie and merchandise for this play. I've seen "little shop of horrors" "phantom of the opera" "hairspray" "Annie" "sound of music" "lion king" and many others, but "cats" is my favorite of them all. The costumes, dancing, music and scenery are amazing. "Rum tug tugger" is my favorite character as I played him myself during my high school days play of "cats". he's hot with a tight body. I have my idol in my profile picture. The ticket prices are reasonable although I wish it was cheaper as it once was 15- 20 years ago at $10 or so. Nowadays they are around $25 per person and seniors/kids are slightly less maybe like $18 depending on the show and season. The only issue I had was that the online ticket purchases are complex and once I submitted my transaction, it basically charged me four times instead of once. So I was paying x4 of the original price. I love the interior and you are able to take pictures with the performers after. I've done this plenty of times before. Better watching the play more so than a movie and also meeting up with characters after the show. I don't think the actors enjoyed it but it's their job to take pictures with guests. When I went, the age range of people seeing the show are basically 75+. I felt like I was the youngest person there. A lot of younger audiences probably go clubbing or go to high end shows elsewhere. Newhall is not a great area to be in and pretty scary at times. The area of the place is especially scary at night because I was driving around at midnight in this area and I saw a man pointing his finger at the sky for 45 minutes straight. Other than that, the daytime it is peaceful and newhall really upped their game with the variety of different events that can be done here. You get a nice theater and ambiance along with many different activities that show up on the weekend.

The classes are taught by professional actors with lots of real life experience (verifiable on IMDB) and are definitely geared towards appropriate age groups in terms of ability, content and approach. The owners of the school are also experienced working actors in their own right - and they make you feel truly welcomed ever single time. What differentiates this performing arts school from the other ones either in SCV or elsewhere, that there are no sales pressure tactics, no guilt trips, no false promises of agents, Hollywood fame or other BS. This school focuses on the art of the craft and on those who have passion for theatre, improv, dancing, music or other performing arts. I would highly recommend this school for any kid, or adult, who has love for the stage. Even if you're a wallflower, the approach, professionalism and welcoming environment, will help you find the confidence in your abilities and help you enhance your acting chops.
