Sonoma County Gazette

Sonoma County Gazette

The Sonoma County Gazette is a helpful, free, local paper. If you want to know about an array of…read morecommunity events, this is the paper to consult. They often highlight local businesses, post their hours&locations- even reviews and recipes. They discuss local issues from the wildfires, to legal cannabis, homelessness, you name it. It's much thicker&less pretentious than the North Bay Bohemian. There are editorials based on specific communities, highlighting their concerns- Penngrove, Cotati, Sebastopol, Geyserville, Graton, Camp Meeker, Cazadero, Jenner- you name it. You get a sense of Sonoma County's diversity. The Sonoma County focuses primarily on "West County" (essentially, communities west of 101, tho they have Cotati&Penngrove) It's thick, colorful, with personable editorials, comprehensive calendars of local events. The only downside is that it's monthly rather than weekly. A great way to catch up on local events, activities, dining and shopping.

This is truly a community newspaper, whereas the unbohemian has just turned into an ad rag. The…read moreGazette is about 4 times as thick as the unboho, but only comes out monthly. Sure there's ads in here too, but at least there's some substance to it. We always find more things we want to do in 1 issue of the Gazette than we ever do in 4 issues of the noboho. I think that the Gazette is a much better reflection of all the communities in sonoma county than the boho is. Besides the events, we really enjoy the editorials too.

Butler Shine Stern & Partners

Being exposed to advertising is not necessarily a bad thing, unless you're completely weak minded…read moreand succumb to the marketers fangs. Or, you can pull out your middle finger and show it to the 'man'. But sometimes ads are way too damn good or funny to resist, and you wonder who was the genius who came up with the fucking good idea. BSSP is one of those stealth agencies who mass produce amazing creative work. A lot of ads for Coke, Mini Cooper, Sterling, Converse or Sprite are made by this agency in Sausalito. To work here, sense of humor is a must and getting hammered after a strategy session is a top preference. And what gets even better - getting hammered and hanging out on a fucking sailboat, while getting paid coupla hundred an hour.

BSSP aka Butler, Shine, Stern & Partners, were picked at MINIUSA's new Ad agency for 2006…read more This is cool in two parts, MINIs and they're local.. SF Bay Area. As part of BSSP's introduction to the MINI community, they held a large party gathering all MINIs, local and far, to converge to Sausilito in April 30, 2006 for the First BSSP Ad Agency Run (with the help of NorCal MINIs). I believe there were well over 200 MINI and mini's in attendance. We went on a near 100 mile cruise through Marin County, before looping back to BSSP for a BBQ. Lots of good times and great introduction to the MINI community. UPDATE: For 2007, BSSP has this new Motorby program in select cities: San Francisco, Chicago, Miami, and NYC. The program is simple, in these cities there are electronic billboard, when a MINI owner cruises by with a proximity keyfob, the billboard will display a custom message tailored to the owner. Very fun and ingenious. Since this is a pilot program, select owners in those cities have been given an email to opt-in to this program. This 'ad' is targeted to existing owners, for non-owners, well, it leaves you intrigued with the brand and may generate curiousity and make you wander into a showroom for an upclose and personal with a MIN. More info at www.motoringfile.com (One star deducted because the previous MINIUSA Ad Agency had cooler magazine ads... fun, cheeky, and somewhat collectible.) Motor on!
