Tate Birnie - Birnie Law Office

After seeing several very positive recommendations on Next Door, I met with and decided to work…read morewith Brittany Birnie Greene on a restatement of my will and living trust. This is the third will/trust restatement/update I have done in the last 30 years and I found Brittany to be the most responsive, knowledgable, detail oriented, engaged. Also the first woman I've worked with, which was not a criterion but felt like the right choice. I found Brittany to be completely prepared to explain in clear language all the nuances and legalities of the process....or to not overexplain whenever I said I was pretty familiar with the various sections of the documents. I truly enjoyed working with her and was impressed not only by the reasonable fee but by her firm's (Just Brittany and sister Tate) generous policy with respect to updating certain parts of the trust and/or taking brief phone calls at no charge. I'm delighted that I chose Birnie Law and highly recommend them to others. BTW, I'm surprised there are so few reviews on Yelp. Probably just that most people are so glad to have this process 'done' that they don't want to think about it once it is. Worth noting that they do no advertising but are always very busy just from word of mouth. Again, just the kind of firm I like.

One cretin (name withheld out of courtesy) tried to get me to pay a $3,500 deposit up front, and he had the people skills of a sixth grade remedial student. Very lucky to have had a friend recommend Tate Birney in Sebastopol. I cannot remember the last time I felt so comfortable in a lawyer's office; and I left feeling like with a huge weight had been lifted from my shoulders and that I really had found a caring and smart advocate, should I require services in the future. Very reasonable rates, especially for one who is clearly so capable and qualified. Even from just my one meeting with Tate Birney, I can, with intuitive confidence, recommend her highly.

I had a custom oak sign that I needed to ship to my cousin in Oregon that was about 3X4 ft sq. My…read moreson had made it as a surprise Birthday gift and he warned me that shipping it might be problematic as it was oversized and quite heavy. I took it here and they took one look and said " No Problem at all"! I had an errand to run and they were busy, so since it was only around 2:00, I asked if I could just come back before 6:00 and settle up. They said, "Fine", and I went off to buy a small chest of drawers and a desk chair in Santa Rosa. All went fine and I was on my way back by 3:00, when, as I was tapped on my left rear bumper as I turned right by a box truck who kept on going, but he pushed me up onto a curb and blew my right front tire out. I limped off of Piner, around the corner into a church parking lot to inspect the damage and the tire was shredded! The wheel seemed OK, so I called AAA, who arrived in fifteen minutes, but had to unload all the furniture to get to the tire! He said "Not to worry, you wouldn't believe what I have seen in people's trunks!" Then my husband arrived and tested it for alignment, and I told him I needed to get back to the UPS store by 6pm and it was 5:45! I raced back, but was fifteen minutes late!! I wrote a note explaining WHY I was late and used bandaids from the car first aid kit to tape it to the front door so they would not think I was a deadbeat and said I would be back the next day to pay up, knowing this was a big job and they earned their money! They called the next day saying they got my note and not to worry, the only thing was, because they had to close out the accounts from the day before, I would now have to pay with cash instead of a credit card. No problem--I was going to pay with cash all along any way, but she was nice enough to give me a heads up, just in case. Really good customer service. I got there as soon as I could, and paid up, apologizing profusely, and they kept saying they weren't worried, as long as I wasn't hurt. I was fine. They must have spent all afternoon packing that sign, because they said it would get there on Tuesday, but it actually arrived on Monday! My cousins were nice enough to video the entire unpacking process, and OMG! We had discussed that it wouldn't need much, since it's just a solid oak sign, but it was double wrapped in large bubble wrap and taped. And then wrapped around in cardboard, and taped, and then put into a custom made box! They did a beautiful job! It took Rick seven minutes with a utility knife to get it out of there AND he loved it! So I am eternally grateful for their customer service as well as their expertise. I have been recycling my peanuts, air pillows and bubble wrap there for ages, but this is the first really BIG shipment I have made. I usually just drop off a little package. This was ginormous...and I am SO grateful. I tried to post a picture of the sign, but I guess I'm not that tech savvy...
