This location is inside plaza. It's a lot smaller than other locations I have been to and doesn't have the typical decor. They have booth seating, a high top area, a small bar with seating and outdoor seating. Tonight we were sat and waited quite a while to even get our drink orders. Long enough for us to consider leaving and going somewhere else. However, we did notice that there was only ONE person serving which gave us a little more patience. We love mellow mushroom pizza and it's one of the only places I can go and know I won't be glutened when I order the GF pizza. Everything tasted as it should. I would suggest when they are short on staff, to have the hostesses get drinks as they seat people. We have eaten at Mellow Mushroom restaurants in Atlanta area and Tampa area probably at least 30 times in the past (both take out and dine-in) and usually get both pizza and wings when ordering. The total was $39.03 - $15.99 of that was the 10 Thai Chili wings. This online to go order today order was picked up right when it was done. Got home 10 min later - the pizza was fine however the wings were horrible. They tasted old as if they had been cooked hours ago and sitting out all day. They were cold, very dry, tough and chewy. Been here a few times since moving to the area. At this point it's usually the same old - they always quote an incorrect wait time, I've had to repeat the order or send things back because it was not properly entered and the service is lack luster throughout - from checking to pick up orders , it does not matter. Overall - the pizza is fine, the wings are ok, but the hassle can end up being ultimately not worth it. This time we arrived , checked in and were told 5 minutes for an indoor table ( after someone checked tables ). Then suddenly we were told we could only be sat outside because all the tables for 5 just sat down. It took far too long though the tables were open and a large party was in fact leaving. The hostess kept insisting on outside , even though one opened up. When she walked us past an open table I then repeated my request to be inside - and the hostess was outwardly rude unnecessarily. She put out menus down and just walked away with a poor attitude - to the point a manager( I believe) came back to tell us we could sit down. This is the second time we have stopped at Mellow Mushroom in Wesley Chapel. We have always had a good experience. I personally love how they have several vegan/vegetarian options to choose from, unlike most restaurants. I also appreciated that I could get a 1/2 sandwich, which was still quite a good size! This day we had a 1/2 of an avocado hoagie, and a meatball hoagie, and we both got spud puppies as our side. I like how their spud puppies are smaller in size than traditional tater tots. I wish I had opted for the tempeh hoagie, as I found the avocado hoagie to be lacking in flavor that day. It wasn't bad, it just was missing something - maybe an acid component to round it out. The meatball hoagie was good. Service was good, but somewhat slow considering the place only had 2 other tables while we were there. While the food is fresh when I receive (which I'm extremely happy to have), it usually takes a good 20 extra minutes past my scheduled time to get my food. I'm not completely sure why that is, but it has happened many times over.
