Interior space was fun the VW bug booth was cute. The atmosphere was hustling. Sat at the bar for pizza and beer. The 2 woman working behind the bar were the happiest, friendly or inviting. Anytime I asked for something it was like I was bothering them. These aren't the type of employees that should be working in the service industry. My pizza was nice and extra crispy, the sauce and cheese ratio was good, that gets 3 stars. I will revisit in the future and review it again but I'm not holding my breath. read more

To be fair, I may be a little biased about the Mellow Mushroom. All four of my previous locations I would visit have closed down, and I didn't know another even existed. Excited again to have a Mushroom Club hoagie, I completely forgot to take a picture before I'd eaten half of it. Needless to say (but I'll say it anyway,) this Mellow Mushroom lived up to my expectations and more. The food was fantastic and the server was on time and quite pleasant. Parking on Broad can be a challenge, but this time we walked from our hotel. Service was great, food has reliable quality and the mellow mushroom has unique decor and seating areas. Stopped in for a drink and appetizer late afternoon and sat at the bar. Bartender was nice. Got a peach margarita and friend got a Sunset in Paradise. Both were really good although no salt or sugar in the margarita glass rim and they were served in a short glass so they were very small. This Mellow Mushroom spot stands out to me. It's the first 2-story Mellow Mushroom I've been to, has a back entrance, has one of the Mellow Mushroom character statues, friendly regulars and very accommodating & fun bar staff and it's in Rome.....Georgia :) Visited twice while working in the area and sat at the bar both visits. On the first visit, came here after having a drink at Dark Side of the Moon next door. While that place was nice, we should've came here first and stayed here :) Had a few pizzas shared with my group and all the pies were good but for some reason I was hooked on their cheese bread, it tasted so good to me. I couldn't get enough of it and lucky for me, it was a tuesday so it was only $2 per order...score!!! I'll definitely come here again when in the area. Mellow Mushroom has to be the best place to get a pizza so far. Their prices might be a bit high, but the pizza is well worth it. Like they say, you get what you pay for. I had the Shiitake Pizza and the Pacific Rim, but the Shiitake Pizza took it to another level. The 3 types of mushrooms along with the sweet taste of the caramelized onions are amazing! The garlic aioli and black truffle oil top it off. It's like icing on a cake. It's just divine. Try it next time when you visit Mellow Mushroom! read more

The food is decent for a chain restaurant. I've had it come out hot and I've had it come out cold as well. Pretty inconsistent. That said, it's too expensive for chain food. The overall quality is certainly not what you would expect with the prices charged. Their bar service is where they really struggle. The bartenders are more worried about talking with each other or playing on their phones to deserve much of a tip at all. One time, I heard the kitchen call 'bar' four separate times as I watched my wings sit at the pass (not under a heat lamp) for close to eight minutes. It was no surprise that the wings were room temperature when they came to me. Ambiance is nice except for when you catch them at a time when bull riding or corn hole is playing on all bar televisions while the Braves are playing. Overall, you can definitely get better value for your money at a lot of other places. read more

I enjoyed coming here with my family. Service was good and the pizza was ok. I liked my toppings, but the dough itself tasted as if it was just any other pizza that you would pull out of the fridge. My youngest sister (who is a little 8 year old) didn't have her food come out with our 'adult' pizzas. She had to wait 10 minutes after we got our food for her to get her food. I know she is just a kid and doesn't care but I don't like the fact that my kid sister was forgotten. Other than that this was a good experience. When we all went outside there was a homeless lady starving who asked if she could have the rest of our pizza. We said sure and gave her what we had left. That made me feel good about myself. I want to also make it clear the reason why I am giving 4 stars is because I just didn't like the pizza. But I would never tell my brother that; he loves this place too much for me to break his heart about the fact that I just don't like the food. Literally all he ever does is go to this mellow mushroom location and eat the pizza. In fact, because my brother likes it so much I will just go ahead and bump it up to 5 stars on his behalf. It also was not the waitresses fault for my sister's food not coming out on time. That (obviously) is the kitchens fault. read more

My husband and I are from south Florida, we have been to many Mellow Mushrooms down south, we have been to one in Jacksonville, Florida when we lived there and it has always been our "go to " pizza joint. But tonight we went on a date night to this one here in Rome (we live in Collinsville) And tonight we got hands down by far the best waitress we have EVER had at any locations. She came up to our table explaining that her name was Ash and that it was her first day working the tables by herself, she said so if anything was messed up it was most likely her fault (I loved how up front and humorous she was) nothing was messed up, everything was perfect, she was amazing!! So tonight was just another customer service disappointment on Broad St. 7/18/2020 9pm just in case a manager cares. Young dark headed teenager or college age slumped over the counter (who never bothers to stand up straight to offer to help. Informs me that I can't place an order to go at the counter, I have to walk down the hall and place the order, I have just had surgery and that's not so easy. I found a parking place just our front, so happy, but am also told I need to drive around and come back in the back door yo pick up. I'm off to Bella Roma, I would hate to know this young woman was manning my main entrance to my establishment I had worked hard to pay for. No apologies, no offer to do anything. Very sad. This is my favorite pizza location in Rome (and I'm a pizza snob who travels frequently for work). This Mellow Mushroom has the trademarks of the franchise, but with a local hometown vibe which really helps it feel like your neighborhood pizza place. Now for the food. I have yet to experience a bad pizza from here. I have, on rare occasion, received pizzas that were lukewarm; however, the taste is consistently spot on. The hummus appetizer is top notch, as I've had it numerous times now. One recommendation I would suggest adding to the menu is a Caprese salad (it's quick and easy to make, and would prove quite popular in Rome given that it's not on a lot of Italian restaurant menus). Service at the bar has always been consistently on the high end. The bartenders are congenial and attentive, and the drink options are an ideal mix of standard fare as well as seasonal concoctions. One thing to note is the size of the restaurant. It's two stories, which is unique for a Mellow Mushroom. You can also access the restaurant both via Broad Street and the rear of the restaurant (where a paid parking lot is available). Truly love this place and will definitely be back again soon. read more

I have a tree nut and usually pesto has pine tree nuts in it. Mellow mushroom does not use nuts in their pesto!! It is such a small thing but I was so excited to eat somewhere that uses pesto and I can actually eat it without worrying. I don't remember my servers name but she was so sweet and triple checked everything for tree nuts! Definitely recommend if you are someone with a tree nut allergy but love pesto!! read more

We went here last Saturday night to celebrate my step daughter's high school graduation and it was a great experience. Our server Alex was a delight and could not have been nicer. All of the food was delicious and surprisingly good. The big hit were the appetizers. We could have been very happy just having those. Spinach dip, wings, bruschetta, avocado smash, all huge successes. And I can not rave enough about Alex!!!! Such a charmer and so helpful to a rowdy family. He handled an ever changing table full of people. We suddenly changed from 10 to 13, unbeknownst to me, the organizer and he handled it like a pro and even with a smile. He split our check in impossible ways and even provided paper plates for the grad's cake. We did share with him, by then we had adopted him! Worth every star. Been here many times and they always seem to impress me. Everything was clean. My friend even said she was shocked to see them bleaching out the ice holder and how she was happy to see them doing so. The wings were a little cold, and they burnt our pizza. We did not say anything about either, but the bartender informed us that he was having the cooks remake the pizza at no charge to us and was nice enough to give us the one that was burnt. I told him multiple times it was fine he insisted. The salad my friend had was huge and cost all of $5 which was very reasonable to me. I have mixed feelings on this place. While I only had the pretzel bites as my meal, which were incredible, the service was at best average. I sat at the bar for a solid 5-10 min before I was greeted. Four star cheers for gluten free pizza in Rome, Georgia! When Rome became a proper college town is beyond me, but it was certainly NOT when I was in college. Big caveat: we sat outside, in the glorious sunshine, sipping mimosas and smoking. It was the perfect Rome Saturday I would have died for at Berry. Our server was hysterical and only showed up to bring us more drinks and chat about nothing = perfect. The reason for the caveat is that the interior is a multi-tiered whirlwind of children in soccer uniforms, miserable parents, and miscellaneous highschoolers who will be able to see directly up your skirt as you climb the stairs to the bathroom. I have never seen a chain restaurant this large and with two stories outside of--ironically--Italy, where their fave pizza chain is shockingly similar in tenor and clientele. Long story short, a fantastic addition to Broad. Though a chain (and still in Rome), the vegetarian options (tempeh!), gf beer, and gf pizza are long overdue. read more

I've never had a bad experience at this Mellow. Love going to trivia on Tuesdays and sitting outside to eat. On Tuesdays, get the pretzles for 2 or 3 bucks. Pretty good service. My favorite thing to order is the make your own salad with that delicious Esperanza dressing. Sooooo gooood. The pizza's not so bad either. Lol it can get pretty crowded on the weekends.
