Compassionate and kind! She looks at the whole picture and helps her patients in more ways than just healthcare. Thank you!

If I can give 0 star I would! My two-year-old son had vomited 3 times and experienced runny stool…read moretwice in the last two days. He is in good spirits and has no other life-threatening symptoms. Since I am not sure it is stomach flu or something else, as I am not a trained pediatrician, I wanted to bring him to urgent care. Tonight (11/11/2024) at 6:55 pm I called Scripps Rancho Bernardo to confirm they are open on Veterans Day. After the reception asked me the reason for my call, she said "we are going to close at 8" and transferred me to nurse Katie. After the nurse asked for the reason for this call, she said " we are going to close at 8 then leave, and not keep any patient". I asked why can't your clinic see my son, since it is obvious his condition is not critical and does not require ER. She replied "yes if you live near by, you can try, and seeing one of our provider. But since we are close at 8 and leave, and the provider may tell you to go to er. maybe you can just go." I asked her again and she responded again that they close at 8. All they care about is getting off work on time. Such unprofessional behavior! The ER is packed at all times, and I wonder how many parents and children there ha the same experienced? Scripps is such a large medical institution, and yet their response is so lacking. How can they provide decent healthcare this way? I am deeply disappointed. They kept pushing the patient away. As a former medical professional I am very dissatisfied with this nurse's attitude. How can they expect any respect or goodwill from patients? Please remember: as a parent in need, do not call one hour before they leave for work, because they care more about clocking out in time, than the needs of your ill child.

When we came in were told the dr wasn't taking any more patients even though they were open for 30 more minutes? Had to drive another 30 mins and wait for 2 hours at another urgent care. Terrible experience.

They have hours posted that they are open until 8pm. My 4 year old son has been getting ear…read moreinfections and because he is 4 he cannot elaborate on it until he is in tremendous pain. This particular time I tried to visit I looked up the hours and decided I could make it there before 8 to avoid having to pay urgent care prices as money has been very tight for us lately. My husband rushed home from work to stay with our other children and I rushed my son to this health express location (about a 20 minute drive) went through the lobby, double checked the hours which were indeed until 8pm. Went to the location and walked in to find it empty and somewhat dark. There was one guy behind the desk just staring at me until I finally said, 'you're open right?' To which he said 'oh no we're closed' I checked my phone it was only 7:30pm I said 'why you're supposed to be open until 8' and he replied 'we reached our max patients for the day'. Here I am with a sobbing, in pain, child being turned away from a business that has posted hours well within the time I showed up. If they are going to operate this way they need to have their hours posted as we close at 8pm unless we don't feel like taking more patients. At this point my son is crying, I'm in tears out of frustration and we end up at urgent care which I had to pay a $75 co-pay I was not counting on and really couldn't afford that night. This is really bad business etiquette and on top of that the employee who I spoke to was cold and unmoved turning us away. Also while in the urgent care I explained to them my frustrations and they let me know they were surprised by this as well since they all of a sudden had a large quantity of children come in at this time and I said at the very least they should have closing hours say call first or something and he stated one parent did call first and was still turned away! I generally have not had any major issues with Scripps and use them for all our healthcare needs but this was a horrible experience and I hope they can fix this issue.

Unfriendly service staff and nurse…read more We recently moved to San Diego and we were looking for a new pediatrician for our 4year old twins. The process of making an appointment was difficult and confusing, and also they did not provide any precaution beforehand that only one parent can accompany the children for their appointments. Worse yet, when we arrived, the security guard interrogated everyone going into the facility as if this was a prison. Finally the nail to the tomb was the front desk staff. She did not greet us not was knowledgeable at all when asked about the typical questions such as follow ups or insurance. As expected, none of us felt uncomfortable after the visit and we would never come back again for any checkup. For those thinking about visiting, you should note that when the clinic was completely empty when we were here. This speaks volume on the quality of care provided here. I'd advise spending more time on the web as there are many other places much better.
