This review comes 5 years after my treatment at the Theta Wellness Center in Provo, UT. I traveled…read moreto the center from out of state, on the recommendation of an acquaintance, seeking help with severe depression and anxiety. At first, the treatment felt great. I was happier than I had been in a long time. I loved the light bed and the energy work. The staff was nice. But the problems didn't become clear to me until years after I had completed treatment and returned home. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend the theta chamber. I know it is well-intended. And it does its job, but it does it out of the context of the whole human experience. It encourages "normal" levels of neurotransmitters like dopamine and serotonin. This sounds like a good thing, but those neurotransmitters help you interpret your life experiences--what behaviors should be rewarded and which ones should be avoided. In my case, the theta chamber treatment threw me so far out of balance I wasn't aware of it until years later. Things may have changed in the last 5 years since I received treatment. However, I would recommend caution when choosing any method that would treat one part of you in isolation of others. And by "others," I mean the habits, relationships, environments, and life experiences that play a part in shaping you to be the person you have become. I'm in a good place and happy with my progress. I found other options that work well for me. And I hope the same for all those who are looking for healing and balance!

What could have been an emotionally overwhelming experience was beautiful and transformative instead. Next, after my scheduled time in the Theta chamber, I was in such an open and "clean-slate" state, that my NLP session with Mike Simpson got to the very core of my core issues. I didn't even realize what my problems were, let alone the source of them. Needless to say, the chance to "get it all out" has changed me dramatically. The awareness of my life-long self conflict has helped me avoid triggers, which has kept me floating along in a state of bliss. I am so grateful to Theta Wellness Center for introducing me to ME!

My daughter and I were very attracted to Maple Mountain Recovery and Wellness from their website…read more The integration of functional medicine was very appealing especially since my daughter has previously had mental health inpatient treatment. After several intake discussions via phone with Kris, an admissions counselor at Maple Mountain Recovery and Wellness, my daughter decided to admit to Maple Mountain Recovery and Wellness. I paid the $2200 bed deposit based on the information received during these phone calls. Within 24 hours of paying this deposit, my daughter and I travelled across the country expecting her to admit to a detox house for 3-5 days. Detox was required because of a drug she was prescribed by her psychiatrist for many years. My daughter is suffering from mental health issues. She does not have a substance abuse problem. When we arrived, and before any other information was obtained , the detox requirement changed to 5-7 days. We decided to tour Maple Mountain Recovery and Wellness before admitting to detox. While Kris from admissions was very personable, he gave us false information during our initial phone calls. He stated on these phone calls that during my daughter's stay at Maple Mountain her therapist would be physically present with her during ketamine treatment. When we toured the facility Kris told us that the therapist would see her 24 hours after therapy. Having experience in mental health treatment, this was a major setback for my daughter. Also during the tour it was discovered that male and female sections are loosely separated. Again, a major issue. We were mislead prior to the scheduled admission and decided to not admit. We didn't have a level of trust or comfortable feeling about the level of care promised. I requested a refund of my "non refundable" deposit based on the fact that we were mislead. I spent more than $2000 in last minute travel to admit to this facility which couldn't provide the services promised. While I believe Kris supported my request for refund, ownership denied my request for refund of the bed deposit. If you or a loved one are considering admission to this facility please know that it is not a facility that will do the right thing, it is very loosely run and doesn't have established therapy protocols. I speak from experience because unfortunately this would have been my daughter's fifth admission to an inpatient facility. Please be sure to tour this facility and ask very specific questions and even then know they will not do as promised nor do the right thing!! Side note: there was at least 4 open female beds at the time of our tour. Our bed deposit didn't keep anyone from admitting to their facility!!

This place is truly an amazing space for healing and love. I've gone to psych hospitals before and…read morehad a traumatic experience there. Maple Mountain however is amazing! Every worker here truly cares about you. They ask usually about everyday how each person is doing (normally in a group setting) and always are asking how they can help. They do multiple fun or enlightening activities a week such as making candles, sweat lodges, salt caves etc. If you need help with something as well, they will help you. I needed to move out of my apartment and a worker drove me there and we spent 6 hours packing. You're not a prisoner here. They don't set an unrealistic timetable on your healing. They only help. If there's anything I would potentially warn people about it would be this; they don't force you to do anything at all. Seriously, not anything. So if right now you need someone to force you out of bed, tell you to leave your room, or make you take some medications, then you're out of luck. You need to be a certain level of independent before you come. This place changed my life for the better and saved it. Thank you to all the people who work here

I have been seeing Dr. Harris for my ADHD for almost two years now. I prefer to see a DO…read morepsychiatrist over a MD psychiatrist because they are much more patient oriented versus "med-management." What I mean by this is that my med-management appointments don't just feel like a necessary formality, they feel more like a therapy session. Dr. Harris always asks me insightful questions and we have an engaging conversation about my life and my ADHD each time I meet with him. He takes the time to discuss my life in a way that truly evaluates the efficacy of my medication and my overall well-being. He remembers little details about my life and takes interest in all areas of my life, not just those impacted by my ADHD, which I greatly appreciate. I feel seen as a whole person by Dr. Harris, and not just as a diagnosis. If you're struggling with ADHD Dr. Harris is an excellent choice! Before COVID I would commute from Sugar House to see Dr. Harris, and will continue to do so if insurance ever decides to stop virtual appointments. A few additional details about his practice: 1. He is an approved provider through Intermountain Healthcare; 2. He accepts SelectHealth; 3. He accepts credit cards; and 4. He offers a sliding-scale for uninsured patients. Obviously things can change so you should confirm these details with Dr. Harris and your insurance provider, but I know that these details can be helpful in determining whether or not to even pick up the phone so I am including them.

She claimed he didn't need a mood stabilizer, that he only needed better coping mechanisms. After many attempts of trying to get her to listen to him, he eventually had to go to the hospital to get some help because he couldn't take it anymore. She was unwilling to listen to his cries for help regarding potentially taking his own life even due to not being on the right medication. Turns out after struggling for many years, all he needed was a mood stabilizer, and was properly diagnosed with bipolar type 1 disorder. He's a completely different person now, no thanks to her. I'm thankful he went somewhere else, and was able to get his life back on track and didn't end up dead.

My son had neuropsych testing here a year ago, and we had to have it redone this year by a…read moredifferent professional. The neuropsych report from Steinmann was brief, did not include diagnoses, and was not what the University needed for accommodations. Also, Sugarman stated in her report that my son did not have ADHD while for the past year he continued to have symptoms consistent with ADHD. The professional we saw this year found that my son does in fact have ADHD. Dr. Sugarman herself did not meet with my son to administer tests, this was done by office staff. She spoke with my son for about 5-15 minutes to ask him what college accommodations he was looking for, assuring him she would provide that, but not to glean any additional information to complete the evaluation itself. We received the evaluation which was 6 pages long, mostly consisting of charts and missing recommended accommodations and any diagnoses. She briefly spoke with my son after providing the report (for about 5-15 minutes), during which she tried to sell him on a costly treatment called computer assisted cognitive remediation that she provides. In looking into the recommended computer assisted cognitive remediation treatment, it did not appear to be an empirically validated treatment. Dr. Sugarman also recommended this treatment to my friend's child who's clinical picture was completely different than my son's. After receiving the evaluation, we asked Dr. Sugarman to provide specific diagnoses and were told we would have to pay additional money in order to obtain that level of detailed information. My son later reached out to Steinmann because the University said that his neuropsych report was not usable for accommodations. Dr. Sugarman provided a document listing functional limitations, some of which don't apply to my son, and others which are attributable to ADHD, and then stated that he should be encouraged to develop a relationship with each professor to establish accommodations. Also, prior to the eval, Steinmann said they could bill insurance but that insurance would likely not cover it. I went through the process to have the insurance approve the eval under the billing codes provided me by Steinmann, but then after the evaluation they billed my insurance company under different codes than the ones they provided me. When the insurance company and I called together to ask them to rebill with the original codes, they left us on hold for 40 minutes before we gave up and hung up. We called a week later and they hung up on us three times in a row. The neuropsychological testing we had done through a different provider was a very different experience. He himself met with my son for 7 hours administering tests. He spoke with my husband and I for an hour and a half to obtain more information. After providing a 16 page report he spent an hour and 45 minutes going over the results and answering questions. There were clear diagnoses, including moderate/severe ADHD. He also clearly listed academic accommodations (longer test times, tests administered in environments free of distractions, using a smart pen to take notes in class, etc) in his report. The cost of the test was roughly the same as what we paid at Steinmanns. I have had two friends who also had a negative experience at Steimanns. I am worried about people not only wasting their money, but wasting time in getting inaccurate evals (I feel like my son's college experience last year would have been very different if he had had an appropriate diagnosis, an accommodations plan, and appropriate medication in place).

Laura the MA outright lied to me. I call back and she says she will put in another urgent message to Tamara. we now have no meds starting tomorrow. I called back at 3:30 and Laura says its still "pending". Wednesday, I call the rx and they never got it from Tamara, and they are out of stock now. I called around and found another rx. i called this Luara and left yet a 5th message. I called the Provo office and a kind lady talked to Claudia and they both requested a call back from Laura. Never heard back. i call 2 hours later and Laura answers and says she took care of it. she sent it to the one from yesterday. she did not listen to my message 2 hours earlier nor the 2 from the other office ladies. i asked for a paper rx so I can take care of it myself. but no, Tamara doesnt work today.
