This review comes 5 years after my treatment at the Theta Wellness Center in Provo, UT. I traveled to the center from out of state, on the recommendation of an acquaintance, seeking help with severe depression and anxiety. At first, the treatment felt great. I was happier than I had been in a long time. I loved the light bed and the energy work. The staff was nice. But the problems didn't become clear to me until years after I had completed treatment and returned home. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend the theta chamber. I know it is well-intended. And it does its job, but it does it out of the context of the whole human experience. It encourages "normal" levels of neurotransmitters like dopamine and serotonin. This sounds like a good thing, but those neurotransmitters help you interpret your life experiences--what behaviors should be rewarded and which ones should be avoided. In my case, the theta chamber treatment threw me so far out of balance I wasn't aware of it until years later. Things may have changed in the last 5 years since I received treatment. However, I would recommend caution when choosing any method that would treat one part of you in isolation of others. And by "others," I mean the habits, relationships, environments, and life experiences that play a part in shaping you to be the person you have become. I'm in a good place and happy with my progress. I found other options that work well for me. And I hope the same for all those who are looking for healing and balance! read more

My experience with Theta Wellness Center was so positive. First of all, I appreciated the time spent with me the day before and the day of my appointment. What could have been an emotionally overwhelming experience was beautiful and transformative instead. Next, after my scheduled time in the Theta chamber, I was in such an open and "clean-slate" state, that my NLP session with Mike Simpson got to the very core of my core issues. Because of this I am now able to recognize those beliefs which perpetuated my cycles and kept me in my prison of emotional pain and suffering. I am gaining an awareness I never imagined I could have. Mike is continuing to help my wife and I to heal individually first. This is imperative to the success of our marriage. We adopted our daughter when she was 7 from Russia. She's struggled with attachment disorders and more recently engaged in dangerous behavior. This review is going to be long because there is no way I can in a few short sentences tell you how much I love this place! This place has given me my life back! I have struggled with depression for over 30 years. It began with the birth of my 2nd baby and just descended into overwhelming darkness from there. I have been on almost every anti-depressant on the market. I have done counseling. I have been to a psychiatrist. All worked for a time. And all treatments came with a prescription for an anti-depressant. They worked for a time, but eventually quit working even after increasing the dosage, sometimes to almost dangerous levels. I got so when I did feel good -- I was like a person who only had six months to live. I wanted to experience it all - do it all - be involved in everything - because I knew that at some point, the depression would rear its ugly head and pull me back into that dark empty pit. I dreaded autumn. I knew it was coming. I knew what was around the corner...the horrific depression. About five years ago, there was an event in my life that added a new layer to the depression...Anxiety decided to join me on my journey through depression HELL. There were months that I could barely leave the house. If anyone spoke to me or the thought of me having to interact with people - I would fall apart. All I could do was cry if anyone spoke to me or even looked at me and smiled. By the end of March of this year, I was praying daily that I could die because this was no way to live. I would wake in the morning and cry and be mad at God because he didn't care enough about me to allow me to simply die in the night and be out of this living Hell. My husband knew I was in crisis and he searched out treatment options. One day he happened to watch a segment on TV about Theta Wellness Center in Sandy, Utah and he knew this was where he needed to bring me. He helped me get dressed and brought me in for an assessment with Mike. I remember that first meeting telling Mike that nothing worked and that I was done. There was not even one tiny ember from my burnt out sell that had any desire or hope to ever get better. I was done. My husband was persistent and signed me up for the 28 day program. I had my first appointment the next day. On my third day at the center, I met with Mike again and after only three days that "less than an ember" had become "just maybe there might be a tiny flicker of hope". I live in NY and don't have the opportunity to travel to Utah at the moment. So I wasn't sure how a session with Mike Simpson would be effective via zoom or Skype. I struggled with depression for years, and had tried counseling and meds, but nothing had worked. My depression had caused me to drop out of school. My mom found Theta, and we went to one of the introductory sessions. I told her I thought it would really work. Mike is incredibly gifted and helped me discover more about myself in 5 days than what I've learned in 35 years. Going to Theta Wellness center has changed my life. After two of my friends had decided to commit suicide I fell into a deep depression. After a few months of their passing there was a physical pain that began to completely encompass my body creating this pressure. It was as if someone was pinching really hard on one of my fingernails except it was everyone, nonstop, and it made going through my day difficult. Not only was there this, but I ended up having suicidal thoughts myself. I believed that in order for me to show how sorry I was that I couldn't help my friends when they needed help I needed to end my own life. This thought process took me to some incredibly dark places. It seemed like there was no hope in getting out of this seemingly never ending cycle of being sad. On top of these feelings of depression, other things I didn't know about were brought into the light. I had also been struggling with connecting to people since these two friends of mine passed away. With help from Mike and his experience with Neuro Linguistic Programming(NLP) we were able to uncover the reasons behind my struggling to make connections. Because of people I had gotten close to suddenly passing away or leaving from my life I felt that any time I would get close to someone they would just leave me at one time or another. After bringing it to light and examining what information we had it almost seemed comical that my mind would come up with this way to "protect me". In my mind, it blocked people from getting close to me(which overall hurt me) because it felt that it was better to always be in some sort of pain rather than to have the pain of losing someone close to me. Going to Mike and meeting with him has truly changed my life. The constant physical pressure and pain I felt is completely gone, my relationships with people have improved drastically, and overall well-being has just been through the roof compared to the past.
