, . It's bad…read more when Shauna (Dr.Russel) evaluates you & and says, " ' ." 6 years ago, I was BIPT patient for my left knee. At that time, I knew I would need help with what was going on in my right shoulder. My PCP offered me drugs rather than another PT referral. This began years of compensating while doctor hopping. I'm not afraid of work... I do fear taking more meds than absolutely necessary. I was determined to keep lifting though. That magnified my issue as compensation began affecting my left shoulder as well. I got used to painful numbness & having my shoulders pop out & reset. Being in pain became my normal state of being. Earlier this year, I finally found a PCP who listened when I asked for a referral during a routine check-up. I finally got the notice I had hoped for! The very next day, I was evaluated & given a treatment plan. After years of pain, I wanted to take an aggressive approach at shoulder rehab. In so choosing, I had to be diligent & consistent. That was my responsibility. BIPT was responsible for providing a solid treatment program, walking me through everything with optimal form. Some work was familiar, some work was new. None of it was easy. I had to humble down and work lighter weights. I eventually began to feel & see progress. One morning, I realized the numbness didn't hinder my sleep. Some days, I found increased ROM with my exercises . I'm so grateful to the entire staff at BIPT Consistent good vibes & encouragement from reception to discharge at every appointment. Everyone I worked with was professional, observant & patient with my limitations, encouraging me through sessions. The positive environment definitely encourages progress. After 9 weeks, I was discharged with huge improvements. I knew from my previous experience with BIPT that drugs would have simply been a bandage. Mahalo staff for helping my shoulders return to functionality!

I was not there to lift weights. Again, they had me lift weights more than 20% of my body weight resulting in my back going out. I was not there to lift weights. I am 73 with a scheduled surgery. Shauna just replied 5 months after the incident and said they could not contact me when I am available 24/7. IN FACT, Medicare's outside consultants tried for one month to contact BIG ISLAND THERAPY with NO RESPONSE. I am now with physical therapist facility who is sensitive to patients needs as individuals. Not like BIT.

She really cares about her patients. She knows her stuff and fixes my back issues every time. I've only ever had pleasant experiences at this office. The support staff are wonderful also. When I confronted the Business Manager and asked to see on my chart if the request from my doctor was on my chart. She told me that the Therapist is the one that makes the decision on what she wants to do with her clients. When I asked her more questions about my situation she changed the story around and began to tell me, that I owe her $25.00 for a no show fee from Last week Monday. I usually get a reminder phone call to let me know that my appointment for Monday is on Friday before.I was told that Friday's phone calls is to remind people of their Monday appointments and Monday calls is for Tuesday. Scottie called me that same day in the morning reminding me to bring a mask or no services will be provided. He failed to tell me that I have an appointment that morning when he called me.There is NO sign that says that there is a $25.00 fee for No Show in their office. I told her that I do not feel that I should pay for it. She told me that she will refuse services if I did not pay for it. When I went back to Linda and asked her why, I was not getting heat, ultrasound and massage she said, that her only focus was for me to get exercise and will not help me with getting pain relief after the exercise session. I went there with 6.5 level of pain and now I have experiencing a 10. I would not recommend you going here if you want to go there with pain and leave them in pain.

This little guy has many years of experience in this business and has fingers that do magic. He pushed & he pulled..... and Wala.....my shoulder got a little better after each visit. Have never been treated so rudely, and compounded by the fact it was an error on the therapists…read moreend! Had an order for a lumbar injury treatment which I KNOW was received b/c the receptionist confirmed it before I made my appt. The first appt Carol was focused on my neck and said 'we'd get to my back later'. (I'd had an order from the previous year for neck). She is so busy with a conveyor belt of sectioned areas she dashes in and out of, and seems incapable of LISTENING, instead interrupts each issue /answer you are trying to give concerns you have, and shifts to the next matter. The 2nd appt I had been in agonizing pain with neck and a triggered weeklong migraine from exercises she wanted me to do for 2 weeks. I TRIED to explain again that I was there for my Lumbar injury referral for an injury in early April -nearly 2 months prior- and needed attention to that matter and some home exercises to strengthen and a list of movements to avoid or include. I NICELY and politely tried to explain I didn't feel like she was really listening to me and she got huffy and defensive and I again, very kindly said she was being rather 'abrupt' with me. She pretty much yelled in my face, "I'M TRYING TO HELP YOU!". I kept my cool and said then please help my lumbar issues. She got very defensive and hateful and said "We have NO record of a request for that area! Only your neck!". I said I was sure the Dr's sent it and she huffed out saying "She'd just go call them" and I could "Just leave and come back some other time when they received it.". CLEARLY, someone in the office told her it WAS received but she would not confirm it but returned to say "We'll find it" and would warm up the neck and move to the back area and be sure to address it before I left. Went thru some perfunctory neck exercises-despite my instance I needed LUMBAR care- and in the end said, "We'll get you back in a couple days to start the addressing the back issue". I ASKED AGAIN, "DID YOU FIND THE REFERRAL" and she said, "We'll find it, we'll find it!". I asked the receptionist on the way out, the same one I communicated with on the phone in regards to the referral and the while waiting to make the appt until they had it, "Do you have the referral for the lumbar therapy??". She looked and said, "Yes, we have it right here". . So that, to me, would mean when Carol stormed out of the area telling me I could leave and come back another time when they had it, yet went to the front regarding it, she was made aware they DID have it. A NORMAL person would have simply come back and said, "Our mistake, we do have it , lets reset", and all would have been fine, even though she was so rude in her communication, I would have continued to try the correct area PT. Due to the hateful way she treated me though, I suppose then admitting it was HER mistake was beyond her. So, now I've wasted 2 copays for treatment of an area I was not seeking care for, been treated badly and talked down to by someone who can't take the time to HEAR a patient clearly or embrace some common communication skills one would expect from a professional of any sort. *I DID have a copy of my E.R. visit and MRI results on my first visit, which she cast aside without looking at it. I took it the second time and she did the same.
