Someone asked what treatments I had with Dr D. I had regular bladder instillations (many with added Ozone, which REALLY helped). She also got me on an IC-friendly diet, and a couple good supplements. She regularly tested for and treated UTIs with all kinds of funky bacteria. And she prescribed both Cromolyn and Enteragam for GI issues that often accompany IC. Perhaps most helpfully, she was always interested in what was going on with the rest of my body. She raised many questions (anemia, MTFHR, etc) that were helpful in pointing my other providers to issues that needed addressing. read more

M. Delgado deceived me and then refused to reimburse the misguided refund my health insurance company refunded her-- because she provide false information in the claim stating that I had not paid her. The situation was for about 5 acupuncture services. She had me pay full price and it took 3 months of me asking for a super bill to claim the service. It turns out she claimed the services to my insurance, stating I had not paid her. My insurance company reimbursed her for the 5 sessions- she was paid twice for the services- once by me and once by my insurance company. When the insurance company contacted her about it; she did not response. Her behavior is deceitful and illegal. I will stay away from her and her colleauges. read more

I went through roughly 10-12 doctors before finding Dr.D. Not once did she say my pain isn't real or that it's in my head but diagnosed the issue and treats it. I spent most of my young adult life in excruciating pain because doctors wouldn't believe me. Dr. D treats the problem and does it with wonderful bedside manner. She includes my husband in my care plan and always explains everything I am concerned about. It is not often you find a doctor that genuinely is caring and concerned for your well-being and actually listens to what you say about your body. Thank you Dr.D for changing my life. To the people stating they would give her a zero- Dr. Delgado has a strict cancellation policy, and for good reason. It is to ensure, patients that have serious issues can get it as soon as possible. Dr. Delgado is a pelvic pain specialist so she sees more than your average healthy woman. There are many women who need to get in very fast and cancelling last minute and paying a fee is policy, which is advised before you are seen and the patient signs a form. I have never had an issue trying to the office either. Dr. Delgado is so caring that she even provided me with her personal number. As a patient is it your responsibility to know and wsk what is covered under your own insurance policy. As stated above, Dr. Delgado is an amazing, fantastic doctor and her new staff are wonderful. Whacko "doctor". Went with high hopes based on other reviews. Saw her for a few minutes and explained my daughter's condition. Has super painful periods that have us at the ER. She ordered some expensive urine tests to check for all kinds of STDs. We told her my daughter is a virgin. How would she have all these STDs? $800 for those tests! All she wants to do is blow air up womens' urethras. Like that's gonna stop godawful cramps. She was fine poking my daughter in her nether regions with the sharp end of qtip. If it hurt, it meant she needed to have oxygen blown up her urethra. Of course it hurts! Especially when U don't tell the person what UR gonna do. Crazy. She was happy to put her on the pill -- year 'round. When asked if it could increase the chances for cancer or possibly cause strokes or DVT, she shrugged and said "Well, yeah it can." This was after we told her there was cancer -- breast & ovarian -- on both sides of the family. Ask for a Tyl 3 for pain? No way. Birth control can have far greater side effects. And, it does nothing for pain. Doctors have gone overboard with the dangers of narcotics today. People who suffer from chronic REAL pain are the losers and victims of doctors not standing up for their Hippocratic Oath. Instead, they're only worried about their own butts. And, pushing some whack-a-doodle painful procedure. (Note: I researched this air blowing up The urethra procedure she does and it has been panned in medical journals as bullshit.) My initial visit was promising, and I thought I found a doctor who will listen. But no. They are pushing expensive ozone treatments that they know will not help. In addition to that, they prescribed me a course of high dose antibiotics for 2 weeks which caused me a severe case of c diff infection where I almost died. When I call them to report it, np did not even have courage to talk to me. She sent me an email and said that they will only see me with negative c diff test. I have 2 kids and I almost died from c diff because they failed to look at my history of antibiotic use and never mentioned to me c diff risk. At first Dr Delgado was nice and seem to care. She did Nutragen testing which revealed I had ecoli and gardnerella and gave me antibiotics and my bladder felt better fir about 19 days. The Ozone treatments made my bladder pain worse and she seemed upset that it wasn't working for me and implied that it was me not following the bladder diet and not taking the expensive supplements she sold me. During my last visit, I didn't feel that Doctor Delgado really understood that her ozone treatments were making my bladder pain worse! She even reprehended me for going to the ER to get help and told me not to do that again because she didn't like being woken up at 4am by the ER calling her. She refused to consider that the Valium suppositories were the cause of me fainting hitting my head on the concrete pavement outside. I had a huge bump on head which hurt for days. She blamed another medecine I had been taking for year without any problems instead. She didn't seem to care when I told her the Valium also made me sleeping all the time and told me to take more for the pain. My bladder so much spasm have worsened with her Ozone treatments that it feel like I'm having contractions like I'm going to give birth and it wake me up at night several times now. She just changed one of my meds from Urabelle to Phenazoparidine but I'm still getting worse. No further action have been taken and I was told to just hang in there!!! I'm in a dead end and on top of it now she no longer accept insurance and charges $300 for a phone visit and $1800 for her Oxone treatments which do not work and she obviously decided to cater to the elite/ wealthy only which now she added financial burden to my health problems! It appears that I am her "client" now and no longer a patient! Still she treats me her client in a condescending way and is leaving me overwhelmed, feeling misunderstood and in pain. I am SO disappointed and frustrated with my experience with Dr. Melissa Delgado's office. I went in for my annual checkup over a year ago (October 2017). During the checkup I got standard blood work done. A nurse or receptionist left me a voicemail a few weeks later to follow up on the results. I called back and left a voicemail THREE times... never received a call back from them. (Note: as of today 12/14/18 I still never heard back from them on this) Now over a year later, I needed to schedule my annual checkup and get my prescription refilled and find myself asking why am I even trying to continue going to this doctor after what happened a year earlier... I guess it was just easier for me to reschedule than to find a new doctor. What I have done the past two months to TRY to schedule an appointment and get my prescription refilled: October 2018: - Called The Chronic Pelvic Pain Center of Northern Virginia and left a voicemail - Submitted a contact me inquiry on their website at https://www.gynwellnesscenter.com/contactus - Submitted an appointment request on their website (that feature has now disappeared so maybe it wasn't an efficient tool), but a few hours after I submitted this I received an email saying "Appointment Cancelled" - I was not followed up with even after THIS - Called the office again and left a voicemail December 2018: - Called the office and left a voicemail for the nurse line this time - voicemail cut me off 20 seconds in TWICE - Writing this review because I think this is so unacceptable and unprofessional To Dr. Melissa Delgado and anyone who works in her office reading this, please feel free to follow up with me at your earliest convenience. Not sure what has happened but no one ever answers the phone at her office. Really disappointing because I like Dr Delgado. I've been diagnosed with breast cancer and I want to follow-up on hormone replacement therapy that was prescribed at my last visit...but nobody answers or returns calls. It goes to voicemail and I leave a message and no return call. This happened 8 months ago as well and I finally got a call back after emailing the receptionist and telling her I needed to make an appt. I literally left 4 messages and called numerous times per day, no answer. Wasnt like this a few years ago. I don't see how Dr Delgado would be ok with this. I would give a zero if I could. She does not listen to a word you tell her. I went there after going to other doctors and they suggested I go to someone who specialized in chronic pelvic pain. Well she is not the one to go to. I told her a quick history of why i was there and I think she must have been thinking of what she was going to have for lunch because she didn't hear a word. She immediately said I am going to put you on birth control. HELLO....I just got finished telling you due to help risks I am unable to take any type of hormone. She went into all the types of BC, well lady i am not here to prevent pregnancy I want to make sure everything is ok down there. Then she did over a grand of tests and guess what its four months and I cant get a return call from her. I even had my primary try. Nope she is way to busy. Can charge you over $400 for her useless medical advice but will not return your call. Find someone else or nobody, cuz she will not help you. read more

Dr. Delgado is an absolute life saver. I recently graduated from UVA, started research at NIH, and am applying to MD PhD programs, so have been having an incredibly busy year, but on top of that was having some very painful side effects (including a month of hell) from what turned out to be complications from birth control. She is familiar with functional medicine and works in tandem with nutritionists and physical therapists, which I really needed because I intermittent fast and eat a low lectin, dairy, and carbohydrate diet that can affect, among other body systems, reproductive function. Thanks to her integrated approach, I'm no longer in pain and am very happy to be right back to living my life to the full. She has both of the qualities you want in a doctor: science-based (lead contributor to endometriosis and interstitial cystitis research) and incredibly down-to-earth (super personable, but also firm when it comes to working with you to achieve your goals). She is also fluent in Spanish and takes various insurances. Couldn't recommend her more! read more

After years of dealing with pain, I finally decided to take matters into my own hands and seek help. I recently left my gyno because she would make fun of my pain instead of offering advice on how to fix it. It was really unprofessional on how she handled it. I got tired of talking to people about my pain because they would either be like it is just a mental thing or you're still experiencing pain. Yeah, I got all of that. Dr. Delgado and her nurses put me at ease. I never liked going to these types of appointments before, but now I don't mind going so that I can finally get the help that I need. Dr. Delgado walks me through every step that she is taking, what she is doing, and she doesn't mess around. She offers steps and things that I can take or do to alleviate some of the pain. She is quick, fast, and puts my worries at ease. I am still seeking treatment and hope that I can one day be completely pain free. read more

I went to Dr. Delgado's office because I was experiencing UTI like symptoms with negative urine cultures. Her office does microgen testing which is enhanced urine testing and shows bacteria other urine cultures may not show. After my culture came back positive for ureaplasma, the nurse gave me a course of doxycycline, but for some reason then diagnosed me with Intersititial Cystitis, a potentially devastating diagnosis which means lifelong UTI symptoms without any bacteria. Wait? Wasn't I just told I had ureaplasma in my urine? They pushed a whole regimen on me and sold me various supplements, and told me I would need weekly bladder installations of medication, along with 6 Oxone therapy treatments at $75 a pop. I asked the nurse, isn't it possible the ureaplasma is causing my problems and I could get better with antibiotics? She said, basically, no. She said I had an "embedded infection" and even if we cleared up this bacteria, there were others lurking and it would be almost impossible to get them all. My gut told me to wait and see how I did with the antibiotic treatment. At the end of the 14 days of antibiotics, I was feeling about 75% better. I had read online that ureaplasma can be persistent and sometimes needs multiple rounds of antibiotics. I called the office and asked if I could have another round, and was told no, I needed to follow the protocol and start the bladder installations. I called my gynecologist at that point and pleaded my case - he instantly said yes, it is well known ureaplasma can be tough to get rid of, let's get you another 14 day round. And guess what? I was cured. It has been 7 weeks now since I ended treatment and my life is totally back to normal. I felt like Dr. Delgado's office wasn't interested in personalizing my treatment or even open to the idea that multiple rounds of antibiotics may make sense in some cases. It felt like after a literally 3 minute pelvic exam I was diagnosed with something very serious, and was herded into a generic protocol. The urogynecologist that I saw after that for a second opinion said that diagnosis should not be treated so lightly, and other things should be tried before immediately suggesting bladder installations (especially since I was having no pain whatsoever, and bladder installations are supposed to help with the pain). I would not recommend using this office without getting a second and even third opinion on your diagnosis. I spent many miserable weeks thinking I had a lifelong incurable illness. How many healthy bladders is this office instilling with medicine it doesn't need, or ozone treatments it doesn't need? read more
