If you're dedicated dancer who wants to take your dance journey to the the next level, Prestige is…read morethe place for you. If you're dancing for other reasons than exponential growth then you're in the wrong place. I met the owner Uwem while I was traveling to train for dancing in Milan. He took a group of his students to train as well; that showed that he cares about making his students better dancers. The environment at Prestige Dance Company definitely feels like a family: Uwem takes time to get to know his students and organizes outings for all of his students to go and practice social dancing. He also takes it a step further and makes sure that he dances with all of his students at the events as well. The reason that I highly recommend Prestige is because Uwem balances the classes equally between shines and partner work and he challenges us as dancers in every class and every practice if on a team. Additionally, he has produced dancers who are now professionals in the Salsa world and that is very remarkable of his school.

Three days before our wedding, with a first dance scheduled and zero experience or practice, we…read morehurriedly tried to find a dance instructor willing to accept us as students. Many people gave us attitude - "Really? You should've came to us months ago. It takes months to learn a dance!" Well, f-ing duh. But it's not like we have the time. Luckily, Uttara said she had some availability late at night (10pm) and we can come see her. She was very encouraging and told us anyone can learn a dance even with limited time. Of course, it would be very simple but anyone can learn... And we did in 2 lessons. I have to say that MANY times my feet, hands, and my body just do not coordinate well (that's why I no longer wear 4" heels, folks! Too much bruisin' in the tush!) and, frankly, I didn't care to learn at first. But she was supportive and encouraging and always positive. She taught us a simple dance to do at our wedding and I didn't suck. She is someone that you would go to and walk out wanting to learn more. I felt like I was no longer a lost cause. I have encountered many people who would give you condescending attitude like you're wasting their time. Not Uttara. She never showed it even if she thought it. I would definitely recommend her and if I ever want to learn to dance, I'd go to her!

Our family ultimately decided to leave this studio due to ongoing concerns that, unfortunately,…read moreappear to still be affecting dancers today. One of the biggest issues was the studio's unwillingness to address bullying and negative behavior among dancers. Multiple parents brought concerns to the attention of staff and leadership, yet there seemed to be little accountability or meaningful action taken. As a result, many dancers were left feeling unsupported. Another concern was the inconsistent enforcement of studio rules and expectations. Certain dancers appeared to be held to different standards than others, creating a perception of favoritism and unfair treatment. When rules are applied selectively, it can be discouraging for children who are working hard to meet expectations. Most concerning was the emotional impact on the dancers. It became far too common to see children leaving practices upset or coming home in tears. Dance should challenge and inspire young performers, but it should also be a place where they feel safe, respected, and encouraged. We hoped these issues would improve after we left, but after speaking with several current families, it appears many of the same concerns remain. Every child deserves an environment where they can grow both as a dancer and as a person. Unfortunately, that was not our experience. This is a shame DO BETTER!!!
