Antipasti -- prosciutto, roasted eggplant, meatballs and Burrata
Evan D.

Went this afternoon starving and left completely satisfied. Was with three people so tried a slew of antipasti, a pizza, a pasta and a fish dish. Service was attentive and prices were a bit high though the ingredients were top notch. Here's what we tried 1. Focaccia -- good but served cold and a bit hard; 2. Prosciutto with fried gnocchi -- fantastic thinly sliced ham alongside delicious gnocchi; 3. Roasted eggplant and broccolini -- really good though needed a bit of salt; 4. Meatballs -- delicious, especially the sauce; 5. Burrata with squash -- really tasty and a large portion; 6. Calabrese pizza -- crust was a little soggy but tons of really nice salami. Very good overall; 7. Spinach gnocchi -- very dense but full of flavor And 8. Pan-fried cod with cannelloni beans -- perfectly crispy skin and a big portion Would happily return

The food in this place was from another planet. I loved the smoked taste in the Burrata. It had some sweet grapes and tiny basil leaves that rocked together. The raviolis were amazing, never tried something so good. The dessert was so creamy and good tasting. I would come back a million times

Started off with ham-- always love me some meat... Then we split the wild mushroom risotto, scallops, and a beef dish (I don't see the last two on the menu so I assume they were specials that night). Exquisite presentation with above average taste-- nothing wowed us though. -Portion size was on the smaller side -Our waitress was excellent

I used to like this place, not anymore. Service is inattentive, the whole experience just mediocre. Ordered a Martini cocktail which turned out to be utterly undrinkable, actually the worst Martini I have ever had. We were given neither a food menu nor napkins. Not even a small plate for the olive pits. There are much better places in the area, don't waste your time here!!!

I went here as part of bookatable's 3 courses for £20 deal. A quick walk from Piccadilly Circus station, Mele e Pere looks warm and clean with colourful glass sculptures lining its wall. The waitress greeted us and sat the 2 of us on a large 6 person table which was great. We were handed a wine list, an a la Carte menu and the set menu. The set menu was completely different from the sample menu on bookatable except for the desserts which is totally fine, we're not that picky. The waitress was also super attentive even though she was the only one serving the whole floor. Then the food started to come out.. The cheesy mushroom starter was oily with sandy gritty bits in it. The beef carpaccio starter was thin and bland, kind of like ham slices you buy at the supermarket. For the main I had pork belly while my friend had the salmon. Both was pretty bland tasting. We both opted for the chocolate mousse dessert with milk ice cream. We agreed that this was the best of the 3 courses but it still wasn't that great. To be honest I would rather have spent the £20 on one good dish rather than 3 bland dishes. All 3 dishes reminded me of ready to cook/pre made dishes you get at the supermarket. It also took a while for the food to come out between courses. This wasn't a huge problem for us as we were chatting away but definitely something to consider. The saving grace was our waitress although we did have to pay a 12.5% service charge for it.

Italian food in London. It's not really a cuisine I seem out as I tend to make and prefer my own versions of the most common meals like moussaka, pizza, lasagne, spaghetti....the list goes on. Having noticed Mele e Pere in a bookatable deal I decided to make a trip here for the 3. Course menu with Peosecco and apart from a few service hiccups, it was a stellar experience of quality Italian fare far away from your stradas and pizza expresses of this world. From the outside the place looks tiny but it's deceptively large. For food you're take. Downstairs and a tardis is an accurate description of the space down here. It's well lit, large with simplicity and a homely feel. Music is the perfect ambience. Half way through eating the lights dimmed very nicely to create a nice intimate mood. Every gasped a little. It was a nice touch. The food itself I had to qualms with. The starter great with gnocchi fritti which was like a pillowed doughnut. This led the way for an excellent organic salmon, mussels and broccoli stem fish that was superb. The dessert great as well. A nice large piece of goats cheese with a sweet sour green tomato and what was surely homemade walnut bread. Stunning The only minor here was the service. One of our group ordered the winter lasagne dish and was incorrectly given the pork belly. 10 minutes later the salmon dish was brought out but this was wrong too! It was almost comical how you could get a dish not wrong once but twice. This would normally count negatively against a business but they were so nice about it, removing my friends main from the bill and offering us a large spread of sides as an apology. They say bad things happen for a reason and if it hadn't I wouldn't have tried the amazing ascolana fried spicy olives. Extremely yum. So in all it was a fabulous food, top notch service even despite the mistakes. If this is how every business corrected their mistakes I would be all too happy to get the wrong order 9/10 times I'd definitely swing by again if in the area. The bar looks quite cool too and you can order sides to share here too.

I am a bit baffled to see another place that is rated not very high on Yelp but that definitely deserves a higher score than three stars "A-OK" in my opinion. Mele e Pere is a place in Soho that you can easily walk past without even grasping what this shop is about. One lazy afternoon I popped in and was delighted with some very tasty Italian food. Immediately when I entered the restaurant, I was seated in the street level bar area by a very nice and friendly waitress. There is also a restaurant seating area downstairs. I started my late lunch with an assortment of delicious bread. When I questioned the waitress about the orange-coloured bread, she explained that the colour comes from tomatoes. They bake the breads themselves, allowing them to create different mixes when they like. Besides the bread, I also ordered arancini as starter, which tasted fabulous. As main I went for a small tagliatelle with beef ragù. First of all, it was looking beautiful. Besides looking great, it also tasted excellent. Although you could think of it as just another bolognese dish, it tasted far better than any bolognese pasta I tasted before. To finish my meal, I selected the strawberry tart. It was difficult to pick one of the delicious dessert options, but the strawberry tart sounded good and was even better on the plate. Mele e Pere is truly an excellent Italian restaurant. The dishes look great and taste even better than they look. The service is impeccable and the staff are very friendly. I did not quite understand, why I got two glasses of cloudy homemade lemonade instead of one and after I did not look at my bill in detail, I did not notice it when I paid. But as I will definitely go there again, I am sure I will make up for it rather sooner than later.

The best bread I have EVER had !! Even better than Paris. They bake it fresh every day. We ordered several things and shared: Spicy fried ascolana olives £3.5 Burrata with san marzano tomato pappa Tagliatelle with beef ragù Aubergine and feta cheese ravioli with mushrooms, hazelnuts and veal jus EVERY DISH WAS DELICIOUS. The only thing we didn't like was the noise level...

- Mele e Pere is a family-run restaurant, which serves the best of authentic Italian cuisine in the heart of Soho. - Open from lunchtime continuously into late evening, every day of the week - we went there for drinks: they offer homemade Vermouth along with a list of predominantly Italian wines by the bottle and glass - service was friendly; atmosphere was relaxed; furniture is modern, simple and here and there a little bit fancy - we tried dry white Vermouth (4.00 GBP) and Rhubarb and Rosehip Spritz (classic spritz with bitter rhubarb and rosehip; 7.00 GBP) Conclusion: Nice bar with nice drinks in a nice atmosphere!

I got food poisoning at this restaurant. It was very likely the olive ascolane with nduja. Avoid at all costs!!

My husband and I stumbled (quite literally) into Bocconcino after hitting a wall of jet lag and…read morehunger. The hostess took pity on us and allowed us spots at the bar without reservations. The bartender was absolutely charming and amazing, and he made a truly outstanding Ramos Gin Fizz (a cocktail from New Orleans that few people know how to make, and even fewer want to make). Not sure how that cocktail came up, but he seriously deserves a round of applause for making not one, but two. He truly revived my soul! I split the gazpacho and short rib pasta with my husband. The short rib pasta was magically both light and hearty; it was exactly what we needed after 18 hours of travel. We frequently travel, and I am highly skeptical of Italian food when outside of Italy. Bocconcino was an authentic experience that rivals many of our meals in Rome. Maybe it was jet lag, but I did almost lock myself into the water closet and luckily after a few minutes manage to unlock the stall door without calling for assurance. I suggest visiting with a friend for gossip and security! As far as ambiance, there was great people watching with the Saturday evening patrons; it was an experience in learning about London 'going out' fashion, and watching the very attractive staff interact with customers was a prime education in upper class customer service/flirting. My parting comment is that the bartender stole my heart and I hope to have another of his delicious beverages on a future trip!
