The decor was simple but beautiful as well and made it a nice place to be shopping. The lady working the shop was so nice and extremely accommodating she also emailed my friend after our visit thanking her for her business and offering future help in buying. I ended up getting my mom these small gold hoops(which she loved); the quality is very good and they are priced at a fair point for what they are(not cheap but not expensive). I will check in over time with how they wear. Great addition to smith st!

They had a Black Friday sale so I took advantage of a gift card that I had for over a year. I prefer to buy jewelry IRL since photos don't always represent the size accurately. I already own the Parker layering necklaces and wanted to get some cute rings to go with it. They have real solid gold costume jewelry. The costume jewelry is excellent quality. There were 3 sales clerks when I arrived and I wasn't sure exactly which one to deal with but we figured it out. I knew exactly what I wanted to see since I already researched it online. The clerk was pleasant and polite. She complimented me numerous times on my selections and how I was stacking my rings. She also made some small talk about the rest of my day. Each item was packed into individual clothed drawstring bags and presented in a paper bag with tissue paper. Nice store, nice staff, excellent product. Check this place out if you need any fine or costume jewelry that is fashionable.

This innovative store presents jewelry made by makers from the metalsmith studio community at…read moreBrooklyn Metal Works just a few blocks away and has a variety of unique pieces with very different styles - during my recent visit, what stood out to me were the undulating large brass pieces reminiscent of Art Smith and a grouping of the most unique stacking rings I've seen, with tiny sculptural elements with micro engravings, gems and pearls, no one ring like the other in the collection. I believe that as of now, this is the only store in NYC that represents the work of the rich community of metal workers that are present here, working out of mostly Brooklyn and who otherwise mostly sell via Instagram or their own website. It's rare to see their work together in person. If you are on the hunt for a truly unique piece of jewelry, I think this should be a stop on your itinerary. Though I saw no engagement rings currently on display, I am sure the store staff would be happy to put you in touch with one of the jewelers whose style you fancy for a private commission (which probably will cost you the same as some boring piece from the diamond district, but be a piece like no other).

Thank you, Goddess of Serendipity. We came out with her wedding ring. We no longer live near Park Slope, but we visit intermittently, and we never leave without something singular and unusual. Next to Specific Gravity, chain jewelry stores feel like McDonalds -- bleak, flashy, mechanical. At this store, you can feel the loving vibrations that went into every piece. And the prices are commensurate with the art. One other thing: no matter how lovely the merchandise is, the experience of visiting, browsing, laughing (always), trying on, and purchasing is nothing without heart. Specific Gravity is staffed by gracious people, some of them artists, so that even when we haven't found anything to buy that day, we have always gone out of the store feeling that we have hung out with dear people. An irreplaceable warm experience.

I knew I had to wait until they opened to check things out in person, and luckily they are very punctual. A surprising amount of people came in at opening - I guess it's a very popular store/location! We were first window shopping around, and it was initially hard to get a staff to help answer a few questions about pieces we were interested in. Finally we got someone's attention and they actually pulled out the entire collection for us to see and ask to try on. It wasn't on display, but as part of the box of pieces that were for sale, I found an adorable ring and knew I had to get it. Unfortunately they had sold out of my size - at the time, my fingers must've been extremely swollen from the heat because my size was way bigger than I remembered it to be. The staff didn't mention anything like that to be wary of, but I felt like they would have known. I left the shop without buying anything but did note the ring I wanted and got on the waitlist online. Eventually they came back in stock, so I'm glad I did go to the storefront to see it in person!

I purchased two name rings late in 2025, I had been a customer at the original location since they opened in 2005 when I was in college! I've bought so many rings from them, many by Wwake but also very nice ones by their in house line. A lot of personalized ones over the years with sentimental value for me. I think quality and production must be way down and I'm worried maybe these rings I have from last year may not even be actual gold. Maybe it's a fault in the design? I put one on and almost cut myself- it had split!!! I was so shocked and reached out to them immediately since this hasn't happened in 20+ years as a loyal customer who recommended their brand, bought gifts for family, etc. I emailed customer service and they said it's under warranty and can be fixed. I felt like that would be okay until I looked at my other name ring, purchased on the same date. I can see a split forming but not complete in the same exact location as the other one!!!!! I don't want a "fix" or replacement anymore unless it's another brand. I'd like my money back, I've never ever had real jewelry break on its own like this and I take very good care of these treasured objects. I can see these will break again and again :( If they can actually give good customer service I'll return as a customer to still buy trusted brands like Wwake but would never buy from their line ever again and can see numerous recent Reddit posts describing Catbird line jewelry falling apart! Sticking to Kathryn Bentley and other cool designers who take more pride in their work. Buyer beware :/

Totally forgot to write a review for this place!…read more I bought a simple little 14k gold band here on Valentine's Day with my boyfriend (no, not engagement, no not a promise ring, we just had some drinks and separate urges to spend money on jewelry lol but I see how the situation can be misconstrued). Was helped out by Jenny who was very patient with us in providing options. We arrived around closing time and had the store to ourselves for the most part. It was a much more comfortable/welcoming experience than New Top nearby & less crowded than Popular Jewelry (more selection as well!) I had to wait to have the ring resized, but the work was done really fast (about 10 - 20 mins? Can't recall any longer). Price wise, I bought it when I knew a lot less about buying gold (find out the price per gram & then the weight of the piece you're buying lol. Multiply, that's the melt value. Stores must sell jewelry for at least twice or three times the melt value to turn profit! More than that is probably kind of a rip off.) The price was somewhat consistent with the other jewelry stores, but I do believe I could have gotten it for cheaper if I'd haggled more (I believe it was ~$100-130?). The experience was pleasant though: calm and inviting. Definitely what I prefer over some of the more hectic/less welcoming shops. Jenny made a few engagement ring jokes and slipped her card to us so we could "come back for the wedding rings" soooooo be warned of that. Sweet lady though, will be back if I ever want to buy gold at a retail store again!

Albeit busy, an associate (Albert) rushed to greet me and asked if he could help. As I asked if he had a piece that I wanted, he asked if I had purchased something a year ago. I was shocked to see that he had remembered me. Albert continued to guide me to my desired accessory and talked about the awesome features of the piece. He definitely knew his stuff. In addition, he asked if he could put in his two cents about the piece and I welcomed it. He said that there was a better and cheaper model. I was also shocked by this. Not only was he helping me get a better model, but he was also losing revenue in the process. I welcomed this and genuinely liked the new piece before asking what the price was. As a returning customer, he gave me a great discount. As I was a little bit suspicious I asked for a moment alone and did a quick google search of the piece. Not only did it have great reviews, but his price was cheaper than what I could find online. I decided to buy the piece. Albert came back, took out and wrapped up a non-floor model piece, and told me how to set it up and the like. I basically didn't even have to read the manual as he had so much information. Albert smiled, gave me his card, and the group of associates wished me a goodbye. What a store. Would definitely recommend them for the watches if not the awesome pricing and hospitality. Definitely coming back.
