To the people complaining about the prices; this is a small business that doesn't have corporate sponsorship or the ability to buy big box store quantities resulting in slightly higher prices, but very much improved quality. To the people complaining about the service; when I was there shopping there were only two people working, which as an adult who works in retail customer service understands, just because it's not busy inside, it doesn't mean the worker's are not busy. I highly recommend Black Horse Farm for great plants, delicious baked goods, and friendly local service. I even want to mention that when it comes to customer service, one of the employees overheard me talking about Strawberry Rhubarb Pie, and when I mentioned they didn't have any, they went to the back and got one for me that was still cooling; that's customer service. So, if you are someone who appreciates the nuance of shopping local, I can not recommend Black Horse Farm enough, but if you're a whiny adult who needs their hand held at all times while shopping, and gets offended with someone quickly answering a question while continuing to do their work (again, small staff but still lots of work to do), perhaps you should go to a corporate big box store. Me, I know where I'm going, and it's to Black Horse Farm!

I counted at least 4 stalls selling different kinds of produce, one of them I bought heirloom apples from where the outside looked like a granny smith, but the inside was pink; super cool and delicious! Also, ended up buying a bottle of bourbon from the Berkshire distillery stall to give as a gift so this is especially convenient if you're from out of town and want to give friends and family local goods. I think the thing we were most impressed with is that there were two stalls offering handspun alpaca yarn. One of the stalls had a flyer with details about what kind of alpaca breed the yarn is from and where the farm is located. (see pic) I thought that made the shopping experience extra special especially as someone who crochet's and is interested in where the yarn comes from. Another interesting item we bought were heirloom garlic bulbs that were bright purple. They're little but one clove has the potency of like 10 garlic cloves; really cool find! Also bought local made soap, farm fresh eggs, and baked goods. Again, even though it's not a very large farmers market, I consider this to be one of the best I've visited; would absolutely make a trip out here again.

For apple picking, they offer 2 size bags - $15 small, or $30 for 1/2 bushel bag. There are so many varieties of apples here, it's great. They also have complimentary wagons for you to use to pull around the orchard. A hay ride is $2 per person and they take you to the further side of the orchard for honey crisps and rubyfrost. The store offers very reasonably priced vegetables such as peppers cabbage, squash, onions, etc. They also have apple cider doughnuts and hot apple cider. We only planned to be here for 2 hours but ended up staying for 3 hours as the kids had so much fun. Great place to come and have a layback experience apple picking!
