I've been shopping at meijer for 42 years- there was a meijer grocery store about 4 blocks from my dorm in college in Michigan back in the day. The West Lafayette location is currently my go-to location since it's close to my work. Always friendly service and great products, just wish they'd change their hours back to open 24 hrs. Love the size and ease of moving through most aisles--good variety of goods. If requested, they will try to get what you want. Only place I can find Harvard beets, everywhere else carries only pickled. The same with Brooks catsup. The store is usually clean. Not a real fan of the organization They chop up the isles. Making it difficult to find what you are looking for. The staff is very knowledgeable they are most courteous and helpful. Prices are more than at some stores but really pretty comparable. Love the value saver you earn points for groceries and gas. That being said it is one of the hardest apps to use. Most stores have a much easier way to check out and put your points reward cards in. Love they send you coupons on Things you buy based on your purchase of merchandise in their store. Love the fact that they have a pharmacy. However, I did not realize I was not earning points. I will have to see how that works. I know of another grocery chain that gives you credit for full cost of s script no matter how they are paid. Very unhappy that they rarely have medications at their store that you need without waiting for a day or two. So if I am really sick or need medication same day I go to Walmart or cvs or Kroger. I have to remind them of 90 day fills that my doctor puts in for or I am running there every week . Wish they could get it organized to be ready at the same time. The new drive through procedure has slowed the process down even more. Very confusing for many. The drive thru set up is very poor will not be surprised that someone fixent get run over or hit pole on builfingThe pharmacist and tech try to help and do all they can. Have observed signs saying entrance closed. Saw one poor lady with a walker, walk down to the other end in the rain in order to get in. Then saw people going in and out. Addressed this to them and they said that when it rains one door don't work but the others do. Should they put a sign saying the door broke use the other door. Not entrance closed When-in fact it is open. Last the check out are plentiful. Many wonderful staff to help. Very little waiting for help at register these workers go above and beyond in assisting as needed. THE VERY WORST THING ANOUT THE STORE HANDS DOWN.....No hand held scanners. Lifting large , heavy or mid shaped items is a royal pain. So while I do shop here it is not my everyday grocery for that reason. They rarely have a lane or available to check you out most of the time. read more

Well organized Walmart alternative but lacking any discount racks on produce - how can you throw away tons of food a year just because it's not perfect top rated grade? Everything here feels clean and thought out. I look for the Meijer brand for most stuff and enjoy the many options of popular national and random Midwest products. I miss the discount trays for produce offering B Grade fruits and veggies at a fair offer and hope Meijer brings that back because often the worse looking fruit is better tasting. read more

I used to think that Meijers was concerned about customer service but lately I have seen what is essentially greed in their pricing. On their shell there is Pellegrino water in two sizes 25 oz and 34 oz. Every 2 weeks I would arrive at meijer's and purchase all of the 25 oz bottles they had. The price was $1.89. on my last trip I found that the price was increased to 249 which is exactly the same price as the 34 oz bottle. I'm only assuming that the price increase was applied because they probably sell more than the 34 oz and they took advantage of that thinking if they increase the price they would make more money. This caused me to visit the Payless store where I found it still to be 189 and I purchased all they had instead. I prefer not to shop at a store that would instead of making sure that their shelf was stocked with enough to satisfy my need they would rather increase the price so that either I wouldn't buy so much or they would make more money. It's not a good look for Meijer to increase the cost to the consumer simply because the sales seem to warrant that. To put the same price on two different containers with different volume tells me that Myers is just not paying attention. Had that not happened I might not even know that Payless sells the same product it's closer to home and they had more on the shelf than I usually find at Meijer anyway. When I ask them at the store about the price increase they all just claims ignorance and said that they couldn't do anything about that and recommended that I contact customer service on my own. That seems to be the way of the world today. Want something done do it yourself because people who are supposed to be part of the organization can't be expected to be of any assistance. Pretty sad but sometimes when a customer is dissatisfied instead of complaining anymore perhaps his best just to walk away and go somewhere else. Maybe that's why nobody seems to care anymore. I'm in love love LOVE with this store!!! My first visit to Meijer was near my son's home in West Lafayette--I never imagined we would be so fortunate as to get one nearby!!! The location is ideal--right next door to a stand alone Macy's that could use some extra business, across the street from a competitor and within easy reach of several surrounding communities. How do I love Meijer's? Let me count the ways! 1. The selection--I'm able to find things I used to only be able to find on Amazon and haven't found anywhere in the area! (E.g. Caribou Chocolate Wonder coffee). The pet food department could be a store of its own! And the clothing and shoe departments have higher quality items than their competitors. They even carry Sketchers! 2. The sales are amazing and their reward system is addicting 3. It's super clean and the staff is friendly and well-trained--they take the time to smile and look you in the eye and say Hi! And they are available--can be easily found when you need help! 4. I can easily get my steps in on shopping day! ;) 5. I especially appreciate an alternative to and good healthy competition for Target and Walmart! read more

Absolute lazy company. Had an order online for the deli. Waited till time it was suppose to get done. Get a text an it pushed back an hour. No problem at all. This happens 3 more times. This is the SECOND instance in the past 5 weeks where I bought a spinach and berry salad at this Meijer location and it was moldy by the sell by date. A little back story: my husband is a grad student at Purdue and I am a grad student at IUPUI. We live separately. On weekends when I am up in West Lafayette I will sometimes stop at this Meijer to buy a salad on Sunday night to take to work with me Monday mornings in my little cooler lunch box. The past two times I have done this the salad has been moldy days before its sell by date. In the first instance, I contacted customer service asking for a refund. They told me I'd have to take it back to the store, and since it's a product that can be purchased with WIC funds I'd need my receipt showing that I did not use WIC to purchase it. (Sorry to those who use WIC, but if you spend your WIC on salad that turns out to be moldy you can't get a refund . . .) Of course I didn't keep my receipt, so I'd have to go back to the same Meijer with my moldy salad so they could look up the transaction so I could get my $6 back. Thanks, but I'm not going to keep a moldy salad until the next time I'm in West Lafayette so I can be refunded $6. In the first instance, there was mold all over the top of my salad and I immediately threw it out. In the second instance, the mold was more towards the inside of the salad and I didn't notice until after I had started eating it. Luckily I usually look at my bites of food before consuming them! Have been going to this meijer since it opened and it is my favorite! Always has so many employees around the store. Its 85 degrees out and they have a sweet greeter at the exits handing out ice cold waters, the self checkouts are never closed like some other stores arounds town, I have never had to wait to checkout even at busy times at the store. You know, in terms of grocery stores near Purdue University, this is my go-to. It has a wide array of selection, and it is nicer and more well maintained than the competitors in the area. It's not a bad drive from campus, either. Particularly, I like that it has every conceivable service for keeping my life together. The grocery is huge, there's a large selection of other merchandise in order to get essentials (such as toilet paper and laundry detergent), there's a pharmacy, and of course a gas station. As a college student that does not want to spend hours out of my day driving around town to get different chores done, this is about as convenient as it gets. The grocery has a great selection. You know the selection is great when they have produce that I have never even heard of before. Seriously, this store is massive. If you need a study break, and a particularly effective one, the wine selection here is incredibly impressive. The store is stocked well, and I can't remember of a time I've gone here and not found what I've been looking for. I like to try all sorts of crazy recipes, and I've yet to fail to find an ingredient here. (And let's not kid ourselves, I would probably give up on that recipe if I did.) Prices are average, but again, you can't expect dirt cheap and to shop somewhere nice. Coupons are abundant, however, so if you want to save money, you certainly can find ways to. My husband who was waiting said he saw her head to the deli department. Worlds better than Wal-Mart. This is my favorite Meijer in the area for its layout and cleanliness. I love that, although they aren't always the cheapest, you can get some really good deals here and find amazing produce selections. The pharmacy is on point and always spotting any errors the doctors may have made. They really take the time to talk to you and answer any questions you may have. Their reward system Mperks allows you to clip virtual coupons and gain rewards like $5 off your next purchase etc. Good option for your weekly shopping. read more

This isnt the first time I have had bad customer service at this meijer location but it definitely has me coming here to share my experience. Tonight as I went through the self checkout line, I had to say excuse me three times to get the cashier's attention to ask a question. When she finally looked up from her phone, she was rude and acted like I was disturbing her. Her manner of speaking was abrupt. She didn't know where the stationary might be. Told me she just works up front. Instead of calling someone to find out the information from someone else, she THEN told me I could go back there and ask someone in office department and went right back to her phone. I have worked in customer service for 30 years now and know that's not how you treat a customer. read more

I usually stop at the gas station every morning and get iced coffee and breakfast. This am I let the 2 cashiers know there iced coffee was out and when I turned around one of the cashiers (Shannon) was talking about me to the other cashier. Meijer is combines a grocery store with a general merchandise selection that is very good. This new location "soft" opens on the 12th of June. The actual grand opening is on the 15th. Where are the employees? My wife and I roamed the grocery and housewares sections looking for someone to help me, but there was not one of them in sight. We never did find one. The refrigerators for eggs are downright filthy -- the broken eggs have been on the inside floor for months now. The trash blown off the parking lot onto the grass east of the lot continues to accumulate. So much for environmental awareness! The self-checkout scanners are touchy and difficult to use, that is, when they're actually working. Some of the produce was rotting today, and I swear we could not find any peanut butter until we finally asked another shopper if he knew where it was hidden. In the bakery, of course, of all places, with the bread and jam because, well, isn't it just a cute little idea to keep the three ingredients for a peanut butter and jelly sandwich in the same place where nobody would think to look? A gallon of distilled water costs 40¢ more than at any other store in town. The coffee at the gas station tastes old and watered down. Meijer is a bad joke.
