On April 17th I slipped and fell and the Machesney Park Illinois location. A employee just watched and never even asked if I was ok. I spoke to the district manager who was on premise. He made a report and said Risk Management would get ahold of me. Caleb did call and leave me a message in April 18th and I have since left 7 voicemails for him to return my call. I also spoke to another gentleman over the phone to try to get ahold of ANYONE in that department. Nope!! I will be taking other action at this point. read more

The aquarium department has always been wonderful, they struggle with keeping enough registers open when it gets busy, they are always out of this product I like, it's clean 80% of the time. Unfortunately, sometimes you get an unprofessional bagger dude who talks badly about someone with the cashier, in front of a paying guest. Then he asks if you paid for your cat litter on the bottom rack of the cart because he wasn't paying attention when you lifted it and the cashier scanned it. then he and the cashier ignore you as you tell them that your onion is a Spanish onion, and charge you for a white onion which is a dollar more per pound. when you calmly show him his mistake, he gets very defensive and sassy. shame shame. minus half a star. come on people let's put on our professional hats read more

I enjoy the selection of food however as a newbie to the area and to Meijers I am still learning where things are which can be confusing to me. Their rotisserie chicken is really good and not very expensive! Most employees at the deli are nice however I have had a few employees who were maybe having a bad day. The store always has a number of employee ran check outs open and numerous self checkout lines as well making check out quick. The bakery/donut section!! If you haven't yet you should try it. Oh I forgot to mention they give samples of wine! The workers in the meat department have come out to ask if I needed help making a selection which was very nice because I did! overall I really like this store and the sales they have. They can be a little bit more expensive than other chain stores but not by much and if you hit a sale...watch out! read more

Online grocery pickup is awful. I've done Walmarts before, had no problems. Figured I would try meijer. I was sitting in the spot for over an hour. I got a call from the manager 15 minutes in and he said that they needed to finish picking some things up. okay, no problem with that. 45 minutes later I call and ask if they're almost done. She says give it another 10 minutes. Still sitting here 20 minutes later and still no sign of a worker. Unbelievably awful service. If you are short staffed, I get it. But we put the order in at 10am and pickup was at 3pm. maybe you should do some planning instead of losing a customer. read more

One day, I went here with my wife, who is black, I am white. We had an issue and needed customer service to fix a gift card issue because the it was not working properly at all. My wife attempted to talk to them to which they completely ignored her and pretended she wasn't there. She was waiting in line constantly being overlooked. The customer service lady said to the associate she was working with, "don't help her, her kind are always looking to cause trouble". Little did she know I'm the one who will bite! I was absolutely appalled at the service we received it made me absolutely sick. Will never be shopping there again. Time & time again we check on line for grocery items we want & their isle #. We get to this Machesney Park store & their out. We have been shopping for years at the Machesney Park store for about the last 15 months or so...my husband who recently started working for Shipt as a shopper...he has noticed that he has been followed by AP (security) he has been going about his business, but recently he had an experience that has been very frightening! The store director Steve approach him, that two female employees were uncomfortable with some interaction ( he has a lot of tattoos) the employees stop HIm and asked Him about the tattoos, were he got them and such...one even allowed him to tame a picture of the employees tree of life tattoo. My husband acknowledged the interactions, The director Steve told him if this happens again he would be BANNED from the store... well guess, what not knowing who one off the offended employee is, he said " hello " and was Banned!! I like a lot of products here plus produce is usually decent. Prices on high side compared to Target on many items but meat is reasonable. The problem: employees are rude. Self checkout is painfully bad compared to competition. Hard to get help to pack groceries even if you are spending 250. I've had cashiers roll their eyes when I use reusable bags. Also, this location doesn't take Coronavirus seriously. There is no one helping meter people into the store and zero adherence to 6 ft social distancing. First off, the layout of their entire store is just a ridiculous puzzle, makes no sense other than to force shoppers to cover EVERY corner of the store. The "Beauty/pharmacy" area is just plain tacky. Like other stores, they're leaning heavily into the self-checkouts. Is the credit card processing system so slow in every store? The stores are very clean, great deli, nice selection of produce and meats. I used to love the pizza slice and drink deal for lunch, had quite a few times a week, until they switched from the awesome crunchy thin crust to a yucky, cheap "traditional" crust, every pizza ALWAYS having onions or green peppers, or a sausage and pepperoni option, not cool for an office worker or someone who hates both. (I don't get why they haven't caught on that the crust was the game-changer?). Now they offer only pepperoni or cheese, don't have the special, guess they haven't figured out that the crust, eliminating onions were the difference. read more

Double check prices at check out some items 25% more than advertised price. Associates feel no responsibility to correct and customer service unable to answer phones. In house scanners often read item not found when you use those to check for correct pricing. Ap shows higher price than posted in store pricing. Who knows price til you've already bought it. On April 21 I went into the store bakery and ordered a birthday cake to be ready at 9Am on Tuesday, April 27. The woman who took my order had a brace on her left arm and she was helpful as she read my order back to me. Went to the store about 10AM on April 27 and there was no cake and apparently no record of it. How does something like this happen? Not the end of the world, but very disappointing since I had ordered a cake not long before and it was delicious. And I couldn't just grab another one with the same decorations. No explanation from the bakery, just couldn't find it. So what on earth is the process when someone comes to the counter and orders a cake? Does it get filed or posted in some way? Just thrown away? Guess I'll get my celebration cakes somewhere else. read more

Others will disagree, but this is currently an unsafe store. 1 in 4 store patrons were not wearing masks. After checking the company guidelines, there is no requirement that we do so. if your going for electronics or gaming headset be aware!!!! I can't express this enough. just the other day I picked up a headset and the box has not been tampered with it seemed and still had there alarm system on it. but inside was a completely different product, wire seemed to be chewed on by some sort of small animal and the other part of the wire was broken off and missing. also keep in mind this headset was definitely used with hair from the root still attached and beaten up in a few locations and they played it off like everything is fine. they almost wanted to just do in store credit for us like yeah I want to come and buy your full priced used shit. this whole time I thought I was just over exaggerating when I said I hate this store. but I guess I wasn't wrong. the apple doesn't fall to far from the tree and these people cannot run this location avoid meijers at all cost when it comes to this. save your money and put it forwards something better and purchase it from a store that isn't built on shit. would have placed a picture of it but I didn't want this mutilated piece of shit no where near me Ps. I love this store & their employees. It is very clean, the produce is exceptional, and most of their prices are reasonable. I used to go to 3 different stores on my shopping day. However, because I enjoy shopping at this particular store, I have stopped going to the others. Even tho their prices may be a bit higher for a particular item I buy, it's just not worth going anywhere else. Staff is always cheerful, and helpful. I've only had to return a few items (non-food) over the years, but their customer service has been excellent. I am a big fan. I am hoping their staff stays safe & is able to get some rest during the virus crisis. read more

I stopped for the first time on my way home to Beloit from a medical appointment in Rockford. The products sold here are similar to a Walmart. There was a grocery section, a pharmacy, a home store, electronics, a garden center, etc. I found this store to be EXTREMELY CLEAN, brightly lit, and well organized with very friendly personnel who often greeted me with "welcome to Meijers" or "welcome to our store!" as I traversed the aisles. I was surprised to see numerous clerks with loaded carts carefully returning items to shelves and neatly arranging them. Everything looked so fresh and well stocked. I went in for a hair bow for my grand niece and ended up spending $100+ on a variety of items! Because I will be traveling this route regularly for medical appointments, I intend to stop frequently and become better acquainted with this store! A +++++ read more

I do a lot of my shopping here due to it's proximity to my work, but I might reconsider in the future. Illinois currently has a mask mandate and from what I can see the last couple times I've been there, this store is not enforcing it even thought there is signage up saying masks are required. I also recently scheduled a Covid test through their pharmacy since they were one of the only places with appointments available. After arriving early and being stuck in the drive through line for half an hour, I was told they could not do my test because it was past the appointment time. It was only past the time because the line was taking so long. The instructions given also said that the test would be done regardless is you were in line. A big waste of time. read more
