In the produce section, they do an amazing job with the fresh fruits and vegetables. Unfortunately, the packaged fruits and vegetables like lettuce for example, it is very spotty. Make sure that you look at the bag and check the date and actually look at the vegetables themselves. I had a hard time finding a bag of lettuce that wasn't outdated or brown. The Northville store has really gone downhill in 2025. They lose power frequently especially in the meat and produce and butter section.The meat and produce items look really bad. The items the grocery clerk was putting out did not look any better than the ones that were removing. You can never find a clerk to help you. If you do fine one thay say "Watever we have is out on the shelf". Consistently out of stock of popular items. I have bought salad dressing and marinade that was watered down. The item was sealed by the manufacturer. No rainchecks unless the item is in their 1 page flyer inside the store. I only purchase grocery items from Meijer that I absolutely have to purchase. Meijer needs to have back up generators to keep their perishable groceries fresh. read more

i used to love meijer until i found out they do not care about how their delivery customers are treated by their delivery service. i asked the shopper to notify. me if there were items out of stock because i may not need another item that made the meal well she did not notify me so i end up with items i do not need and when she came i did not tip her (the message says we tip in cash and it's after the message to notify me so we know she read it ) well when she did not get her cash tip she sent me a nasty message on my phone and i notified meijer abd they did not contact me and the real thing that made me mad is that i had tipped the girl $23.00 on my card because i did not have the cash on me. read more

I placed a online order at Meijer on grape road Mishawaka indiana. I got a text my full order was ready and I get there and call and they say they will be right out. I wait a half hour and call again say they will be right out. Still no one comes, so I go in and tell customer service says they will bring it right out. Finally another 10 minutes the guy comes but half my order is missing and he tells me they were out of stock and to get a refund I have to call a 800 number to get my money back for groceries I never got. So I go into customer service again and they say well we are short handed and that they were supposed to tell me that they didn't have half of my order. Used to be a good alternative to Target or Walmart and kind of fell between the two for product availability and quality. It's now at the bottom of the list. Subpar produce, apathetic staff, self check outs are not as intuitive or user friendly as other stores. Plus, it always feels dirty in there now. This Meijer is super organized and clean. Even the restrooms are really clean, which was a nice surprise. Parking is plentiful, too. I always like to hit up Meijer because they usually have a nice selection of indoor plants, especially the leafy and viney plants that I prefer. I guess my only complaint (other than the donuts), and this goes back years, is that the products are not consistent. This is by far my favorite Meijer location! One of my favorite things about this location is that there is the sweetest elderly man who works as a greeter. He is always so nice and helpful. It makes my day to chat with him for a minute before shopping. He genuinely seems to enjoy greeting and helping customers. The selection is always great and stocked. I love the clearance sections they have. There is always good stuff there. I like it even more after they redid the departments. I was at this location yesterday (Saturday August 13) they had ribs on sale $2.99 a lb. I bought one took them home got them out of the wrapper and they stunk so bad they were spoiled. They continue to keep their products fresh in the grocery. Their greeters are always cheerful and I appreciate how they truly sprayed each cart handles when they enter back to the cart area. This location they really keep each aisle and produce floor clean. All their staff wear masks. I haven't seen one just dangle them under their chin like staff across the street do at Walmart. I'd give this place a 5, but I must hold my excitement for Meijer back just a bit. So every region of the nation has their "local" grocery store. In Texas they have HEB, Vons out on the west Coast, Kroger and Bi-Lo down south, Jewel-Osco in Illinois, etc... My preferred grocery store in the midwest is Meijer, hands down. So what is it that makes Meijer so speicial? Probably the biggest up to this place is that it is 24 hours. I cannot tell you how many times I went grocery shopping at 3am on a Friday or Sat. nite when I was back in school. You'd think I was the only person shopping at this time, but no, plenty of other people from old people to drunks, to college students rock this place at any given time. In addition to being 24 hours, they are the "super store and more." They sell everything. Picture Wal-mart, but not evil, and you got Meijer. Yes, there have been times when going to Meijer was my plan for the evening, but they got a good selection of just about anything. My love for Meijer cannot be expressed in words. There are some Meijers that are a bit run down, but not this one. There's a friendly older gentlemen greeting you at either door, and the store is bright and clean for the most part. I didn't visit the Meijer on East 96th Street today planning to write a review of my experience.As I entered Meijer, everything changed as I looked around and thought to myself "Wow, this is different." I've been to Meijer before. I've been to this Meijer before, but for whatever reason it had never really registered just how different an experience it is as opposed to some of the other "supercenter" type retail establishments. This chain is based largely in the Midwest, and I would dare say you tend to get that Midwestern sensibility as soon as you get inside the doors. Unlike Wal-Mart or K-Mart, Meijer is clean and bright and warm and inviting. While it still looks like a mass merchandiser, it looks and feels like a mass merchandiser that actually wants customers and cares about the customer shopping experience. The shelves were clean, organized, and constructed in an appealing way. The store wasn't so filled to the brim with products that you couldn't get down aisles. The lighting? The store was well lit, but it seemed to have a warmth to it that didn't feel so jarring. Unlike Wal-Mart and K-Mart, you don't get constantly interrupted by overhead announcers who have no clue how to use a microphone. The employees were smiling. The employees were actually working, not standing around goofing off (I'm looking at you, Wal-Mart). I watched as a cashier actually solved someone's problem rather than delegating it, avoiding it, or letting everyone wait in line for 15 minutes while they waited on a supervisor. That tells me that even within their roles, the employees are empowered to help. The prices are terrific. I do frequent Wal-Mart and Target more often because they are MUCH closer to my home, but as I was really looking at prices today I saw several regularly purchased items that were definitely less expensive. I did notice they didn't carry some of my personal health items, but even Wal-Mart has been pretty slack in that area lately. This Meijer, at least for this visit, does lose a star because I happened to wheel around the entire store without ever getting asked if I needed anything, needed help, or really even getting acknowledged except at the front door by a greeter and at the cash register. While it's nice having a relatively uninterrupted shopping experience, it's fairly basic customer service when you're walking by a customer to at least acknowledge them. That's a minor quibble, but an important one given that Meijer does tend to pay their employees a livable wage. Overall, my visit today reminded me that I need to shop Meijer more to acknowledge the savings and to reward them for focusing on the customer shopping and service experience. I actually enjoyed this shopping trip today. It has been awhile since I could say that about a mass merchandiser. read more

It your typical Meijer. If you are not from the Midwest and have no idea what a Meijer is, think upscale Walmart but not quite Target, minus the auto tire center and whatever fast food chain restaurant that severs as the food court. This particular Meijer has improved over the years. It is clean, the shelves are stocked and maintained, and at the time I went is was pretty staffed and no lines to speak of. This of course can vary based on the time of change of shift and holiday/mass weekend crowd. Generally, they are proactive in getting people through the lines. Like many stores, they have UScans on the ends and regular staffed cashiers, who act as baggers, in the middle. The store is broken down it grocery and other hard goods/ soft goods. The selection throughout the store is good and you can find your named good products throughout. I am especially happy that they have dedicated a decedent space to gluten free items which can be found in the snack aisle next to the popcorn . Good or bad, the store is always open 24/7, with the exception from around 6pm December 24th - 6 am December 26th. read more

I was working in maintenance at a nursing/assisted living home. I befriended a Veteran whose wife had passed away not very long ago. Frank always had a smile. He told me his birthday was going to be soon, so I told him I would buy him a cake. I went over to the Meijer's in Carmel & ordered the cake. Frank's health was deteriorating fast. He could barely talk, but still smiled. On his Birthday I went to see him early in the morning & his family was there, I poked my head in & said hello. About 45 minutes before I went to get the cake, the nurse called me on the radio & said Frank's family wanted to see me. When I got near the nurses desk, she took me aside & told me Frank had passed about 5 minutes ago & that the family wanted to see me. I went to his room & they told me that Frank had told them about me buying him a birthday cake. I told them I would just pay for the cake & not bring it over. They asked me to go ahead & pick it up, that they wanted to know if they could have a celebration of life instead. I told them of course. I went to pick up the cake & I was a mess. When I saw how the bakery staff had went above & beyond to make this cake so beautiful. I had explained about Frank being a Veteran & that he wasn't doing well. The sheet cake was a huge American flag with the words Happy Birthday Frank, Thank You for your service. I told them he had passed about an hour ago & what the family was going to do with the cake. Long story short, by the time I made it to the register, a member of the management met me at the register & Meijer's paid for the cake. When a company does something like that, it speaks volumes. This was over 2 years ago, I just went to Meijer's, all of the people working there were so nice, that it brought back this memory. If you want good service, need help finding anything, I highly recommend Meijer's. To me, they will always be the best. read more

When I moved here years ago, I had never been to a Meijer because they don't exist in TX. The first time I went there, I knew I was never going back to a Walmart! I still shop at this Meijer 10 years after moving here, and will continue. This store is clean and organized, and the customer base is also on another level than the Walmart crowd. In the midst of the coronavirus when we as a people should be uniting together and helping however we can. My Wife and I were just treated like trash by employee Andy W. At this Meijer (Meijer-8375 E. 96th St. Indianapolis) I guess that given my wife has Dreadlocks and I have plenty of Tattoos, that this Andy W. Thought he was better than us and that we didn't have the money to pay for our goods or something. My wife started ringing up our items at the self-checkout as I ran back to grab something we had forgotten. When I got back to my wife with item, she tells me that the employee (Andy W.) had just accused her of trying not to scan our eggs. No sweat, just doing his job right??? As she continues scanning our groceries, I notice other customers asking him for help, he ignores them telling them to wait, as he stands there staring at my wife and I like we are America's Most Wanted. So I walk over to him and ask if they cash payroll checks as I happen to have a $1300 check in my pocket, he ignores me point blank, side steps me and continues ogling my wife as if she's a criminal. So I turn around and return to my wife and chuckle and tell her he thinks we are stealing. To which Mrs. Andy W. Approaches us in a most rude manor and says yeah I'm watching you do this and that blah blah blah, well that was all I was going to take. I got my phone from my pocket and proceeded to take his photo for this purpose here. As soon as he realized I had taken his photo, he attempted to grab my phone from me while verbally assaulting me with profanity and threatening to call security. We were welcome to security as we had done absolutely nothing wrong. Both my wife as well as myself have never in our lives been treated with such blatant disrespect, humiliated, embarrassed, you name it, and that is how this Andy W. Completely ruined our shopping experience. Needless to say we left everything there, and drove across the street to Walmart where at least Ol Sam Walton has the since you hire employees who are not miserable in their own existence and in turn tries to bring everyone they come in contact with down and ruin their day. The thing I like about Meijer is that you can get a lot of errands done in one place. I bought weights to workout at home, greeting cards to send, IU gear for a high school grad who is headed off to Bloomington. I also got everything I needed for the "laundry must haves" grad gift that is a staple with me - some sort of cute tote, tide pods, bounce, treat it and wait stain stick, tide to go, laundry hamper. I also picked up fresh produce and some good staples. If I had needed I could have gotten dishes, glasses, Turvis tumblers, linens, hardware, paint, pet supplies, pharmacy, home decor, candles, kitchen staples and appliances. Like I said, lots of errands all in one place! The only drawback is that there isn't a Starbucks inside like you get with Target and Kroger. But it saved me a ton of time to get everything in one place. I also really like their fresh bakery goods, fresh bread, donuts, basic cakes all at good prices and as good as any other grocery bakery. read more

This Midwestern chain of superstores is based out of Michigan and is found pretty much only in Indiana, Ohio and Michigan. A lot of the produce is locally grown, (a cost strategy that has paid big dividends for this chain) and thus I don't feel too bad about this superstore. Their produce selection is top notch and blows Super Wal-Mart out of the water. Maybe second only to Marsh, and ever since Marsh has had new owners, their quality has slipped (as evidenced by Indianapolis Magazine's fan voting of Meijer having the best produce for the last three years.) I love the fact that they are 24 hours and every single time I go to ring up something, it always, without fail, something that I thought was a good price rings up actually significantly less at the register. It's on purpose, not oversight. For example, Playtex Diaper Genie refills (the biggest necessary scam known to man) usually is about 6.50 to seven dollars, and sometimes I can find it on sale for 5.99. It was priced at 6.24 regular price by the shelf tag. It rang up at 5.50! I went back and got two more at that price. A strategy that has worked out great for both me and Meijer. Another example, Post cereals on sale for two for four bucks. Not bad, right? At the register, they rang up 1.50 each! Yippee for saving money! Their employees are also paid a livable wage. They are not allowed to accept tips, but are expected to give world-class customer service for their generous salary and it shows in the pride and cleanliness of the stores. I can't say that for their aforementioned competitors (who famously pay infamously low wages and employ ineligible workers.) The only problem is, it is large, and the baby stuff is half a store away from the grocery section and HBA is on the complete opposite side, making shopping an exercise (especially with a rambunctious two year old.) In addition, there is not one that is close enough to justify the waste of gas plus my ice cream would melt before I got it home. I would love to shop more local groceries, but since Marsh is no longer a hometown market (but based out of Florida), Kroger's quality is inconsistent at best, and Super Wal-Mart will never see any of my money (because of their corporate practices, please don't get me started on why wally world is unAmerican and violates antitrust laws), Super-Target and Meijer are the best here. If Meijer builds a store in Brownsburg, you will see me there regularly. read more

Not one of my favorite stores to shop - but this experience made me a big fan. As I was exiting my car, my hat flew off! The wind was incredible and a very important document also became airborn! I chased both across the parking lot and a young man raced to get the document after I caught my hat. He went out of his way and I thanked him profusely! Later in the store, I learned that he was an employee (JASON) - I don't know what his manager will do with the information I provided about his help, but as a handicapped person getting some years on, I certainly hope that the manager does something special for him!~!!! What a pleasant difference to shop at this Meijer compared to the Walmart across the street. I started out at Wal-mart looking for running shoes, and found a bargain for $12. The next day I tried them out, and yes, I can actually run 5 miles in a $12 pair of shoes from Walmart, the "Johnny" model athletic running shoe from "Starter" brand. Point in favor of both Meijer and Wal-mart, is that they have WIDE widths for their athletic shoes. Some dedicated shoe stores, such as The Running Company in Broad Ripple, and Finish Line in Speedway don't have WIDE widths in stock! On the overall experience, Meijer is a nicer store, with nicer employees, cleaner and more upscale ambience, and nicer clientele. At the Walmart across the street, I noticed a lot of loose shopping carts in the parking lot, even though they have a lot of cart corrals to put them in. For some reason Walmart shoppers are just too lazy to put their cart away. It's even worse at the Walmart at the 7300 block of North Keystone. Unless there's a big price differential, or I need something that only Walmart has, I'd actually prefer to shop at this Meijer. read more
