I shopped at meijers on Knapp st last week while in line I had to put somethings back due to not enough funds at the time food prices are just ridiculous. The cashier said to me can you just pay for the meat items because if not we will just throw them away. I said we'll since that's the case why not just give them away and he said no they could not....not they would give it to shelters any where but the trash. I am handicapped and have a very hard time lifting items over 15 lbs. I had a cashier tell me that I 'had to lift the items' and that they didn't have to help me after I asked them to lift a box of canned cat food that maybe weighed 20 pounds. After struggling to get the food in the cart, the cashier was incredibly demeaning and condescending to me. I have had this issue before and been in contact with their corporate headquarters and was told this should not be the case. Actions speak louder than words from corporate workers who aren't in stores. Glad to know this is how Meijer treats handicapped customers. read more

A quick 2 minute drive from work, this has been my go-to Meijer for years. Compared to other Meijers in the area, it's clean, safe, large, and has the widest variety of items. I really enjoy their fresh section. You can usually find good in-season produce, and they have all kinds of pre-chopped vegetables, shredded chicken, fresh baked bread, etc if you're looking to shorten your cooking prep time. I love that it's a one-stop shop if you need a wide variety of things like home and lawn maintenance, groceries, toiletries, and gifts. The main issue I have with them is that they are VERY frequently out of stock of the items I need. Their bread selection is usually very picked over, and they do not restock the fresh or shelved items as frequently as they need to. Overall, given the options in the area I'll definitely keep them at the top of my list. read more

I ordered a 2-tiered wedding cake (minus all normal decorations...we personalized it later) from this location plus 7 dozen (?) cupcakes for our daughter's wedding reception downtown. Clean, bright, though I do like how they seem to dim the lights during dark hours so going in and out isn't so jarring. Friendly employees for the most part. Morning hours usually has a good amount of registers with people, though afternoon shifts should consider adding a couple more. I had a rough time there the other day, bank troubles and mysterious PINs, but the cashier helping me was so patient and kind while we figured out which one of my cards was the one with the money. The kindness of her and the bagger really helped me from having a full on panic attack and crying in public. So I am eternally grateful for that. I also like the parking lot. This is a flagship Meijer store. They are always constantly updating in infusing the latest looks into the store. I had the pleasure of swinging by the joint last night and was able to grab wood from the gas station then cruise up to the store to get liquor, beer and everything else needed. In and out with relative ease. Also the place was perfectly ambiance lit up and it made me realize I was back in my home city of GR. It felt great. I wish the Wisconsin stores had as much care into the total store look and feel as they are in Michigan. It was nice to be home and Meijer made me miss shopping here... read more

My favorite Meijer in town. Took a while to find my way around but not an issue anymore. Selection in the grocery area is very good and I usually always am able to get everything on my list. We do most of our shopping here and have been very happy. May well be the easiest Meijer to find staff to ask question in needed. Yes, they are huge stores, but I'm not so old that I mind a little walk. Realize that you can actually get so many of your everyday needs here, it might actually end up saving you quite a bit of driving and steps. They tend to have most of what you need in many departments. They don't have everything, It would be silly to expect any such store to have every incarnation of every item sold in North America. Still, I find the grocery selection to be expansive, the produce of above-average quality, the meat and fish counters are superior, and the new bakery, cheese, sushi and hot food sections very convenient. For everyday needs, it's pretty hard to beat this place. Having lived in an area with no such store nearby, I have really come to appreciate my local Meijer. read more

We just moved to the downtown area from across state and I have been so nervous about finding a grocery store in a safe and convenient area and this Meijer definitely delivered. I have never seen such a well stocked and beautiful meijer! Also, as a new mom, the carts with the holder for the infant carrier were amazing! I almost cried as to how thoughtful it was to have those available. The store is very well laid out and organized and it made my shopping trip so stress free. I would not recommend their curbside pick up. I placed an order on Sunday for a pick up on Friday. Four hours before my pick up time they e-mailed me with a cancellation. I spent over an hour on hold and when I spoke with someone they said that the cancelled my order because they had too many orders. They had an entire week to prepare my order and make sure they were properly staffed to shop my order. I spent over two hours online picking out my items. This is poor management and insanely bad customer service. This is the second time that I have experienced this. The first time was a delivery order that they cancelled due to a glitch in their system. read more

For a company that has been in the grocery business for many years and with stores that are well laid-out, Meijer should stop experimenting and go with what works. The main reason of my low rating of the Knapp Corners Meijer is the about the rest rooms. Whoever designed and approved the design of this Meijer location messed up big time. Unfortunately, I needed to use the rest room when I was there the other day. This is when I found out that the rest room is not in a central location like other Meijers I have been to. Not only are they literally on both ends of the store they are also single person use. This would be ok if I am not walking the distance of a football field and needed to go. When I got to the one on the west end it was in use and locked. So i asked the greeter if there was another one and he said it was by Starbucks - clear across the store on the east end. I was shaking my head and left. Good thing I live nearby.... otherwise I could have gone right in the middle of the store...... I sure hope Meijer did not pay their consultants too much for this layout. What is mind boggling is even with consultants why did Meijer itself agree to this layout? read more

If you want convenient options like curbside pickup, ease of use of the app/website and grocery delivery.. run fast from Meijer. App glitches, is slow and not user friendly. The store at Knapp's corner definitely struggles to execute on curbside pickup and delivery with me attempting to take advantage of these options 5x since April without being able to get an order complete. I have not had success trying at the Plainfield location either. Early on I gave credit to surge in the use with pandemic but here we are 8 months later and once again (likely the last time) I try to get curbside. After fumbling with the app which is horrible I get my order in with a pickup tonight between 8-9PM. Come 9:15PM and I go to the store as there is no clear tracking or direct phone number to contact that department given in the app, thinking it has to be ready right? Sure enough they haven't even started shopping! No notification to me.. when was my order going to be ready?? So being this is the first time I could even get this far in an order through their website (before the app crashes, they would never have any times available for two days out which I guess was the max, etc.) and I notice the rather rudimentary set up they have in this operation. I have never been a Walmart fan until Meijer made me one. I highly suggest anyone to to try the app, online ordering and pickup with Walmart versus Meijer. It is clear that Walmart has invested the resources necessary to make this strategy successful and convenient, which it is supposed to be! Family Fare and D&W even have a better handle on these services! That's it Meijer I AM DONE. Have your executives in charge do the online grocery buying experience at your store and then at Walmart, I am sure it will be really clear where you are falling short after just one try at each. Also for the love of every patient shopper who spends the time to scan their own groceries to make it out of checkout quicker... either get more scan and shop lanes or keep the ones you have a actually operating! How can a store with so much stuff not have what you need!?? We went in search of some new home move-in items and after looking ourselves, tried to find a staff member to help us. After searching down several aisles we found someone coming off break who said, "I don't think we have that" and walked away. We did some grocery shopping and that section was just too large and weirdly organized/laid out. They do have TAB, so there's that. They get one star for carrying TAB. Fresh produce and meat selection was nothing to write home about and overall the prices were too high. And maybe it's just me, but I cannot get down with the idea of grocery shopping at Meijer. Meijer is the store you go to when you need an air gun, BBs, a TV Guide, a giant bottle of ibuprofen, a 12 pack of Coors Light, a Hungry Man dinner, a flashlight, rope, and toilet paper (**actual items I have watched someone purchase in one transaction at Meijer**). read more

As a Flagship store, this sucks. They rearranged the store and the grocery section is so spread out and in different segments, that I have a difficult time finding things. The store looks very over cluttered and disorganized. Now I hear they are doing this shit reorganization in the other stores. Well as of now I am boycotting Meijers. I will go to Walmarts which is far more organized and comfortable. The Meijer family just wants more money and pay their people an unlivable wage. A few of my friends work there and hate the pay. I went to meijers a week ago and wanted to print out a photo book. I was given a disk and I spent many hours creating a photo book with their disk. I then brought the file I created back to meijers like they told me and they said they could not do it. Do not go to meijers to create a photo book You are much better off using an internet company. Today my service was piss poor at best. At 5:00pm the lady and gentleman working the self check, near the produce, were completely worthless. The gentlemen rubbed me wrong when I asked him a question and he replied "sure, I don't really even know," with no initiative to find the correct answer. When I informed the lady my dog toy had no bar code, she looked me in the eyes and whined "nooooooo, ughhhhh, c'mon! Do you really need it? He stuck his hand in the handle opening and.....severed a tendon in his finger on a broken bottle.. Meijer couldn't have cared less. Every call to the store yielded no helpful response. It would be great if they had a microwave in the cafeteria. Because, well, it's a cafeteria. Sometimes I will head to Meijer for a midnight snack, only to continually rediscover that there is no way to heat up the food I purchased. The produce is not great. You'll see entire tables full of rotting fruits and vegetables. If you happen to purchase good-looking produce, it will probably go bad within a couple days. You should be cautious when purchasing Meijer produce. Positives: -They sell beer singles -They have a decent selection of items throughout the store -They have a fair return policy -Clean and organized -Open 24/7 I think Meijer is part of an oligopoly of grocery stores. They can charge higher prices because of few alternative stores in West Michigan. They can get away with low quality standards because they can. The employees are usually disgruntled. read more

Let me first state that this is my favorite Meijer. I've been to dozens of stores around the state. On a positive note, they are doing some 'new' things such as kiosk ordering for meats and preordered groceries where Meijer does your shopping. On a 'could improve' note, the dining area on the south side of the store by Starbucks could use regular attention to cleanliness. Also, for an organization who's founder was such a stickler for cleanliness I was shocked to find the men's restroom 100% void of a soap dispenser with any soap. This is the only restroom I saw near the deli & Starbucks. Makes one wonder how those Meijer staff people washed their hands??? My two cents for this Meijer - keep up with the great new ideas but don't forget the devil is in the details. read more
