Warning do not make an appointment at Meijer pharmacy for vaccines unless you do not mind waiting long past your appointment time. If you speak up the pharmacy workers will threaten you with not providing the service. They may call you names such as, "you are really a piece of work". Lastly, they will flat out tell you, "go somewhere else next time". My advice, don't go to Meijer pharmacy; they do not care about the customer or providing great customer care. read more

Love this company. Moved back up north from Florida and miss the Publix stores; Meijer eases the pain. We can get many of our vegan choices that our local Oscoda and Tawas stores just do not carry,nor do they care to. This morning, I ordered a grocery order for my homebound, terminally ill parents. It was to be delivered between 12 and 1 pm. I used the app. They received one communication about the bread not being available. My father gave permission for another type of bread. At 2:00pm the groceries still had not been delivered. When I went in the app to see why, it said the order had been cancelled. No one authorized that. NO ONE. And now, they still do not have what they need. This is such a nice Meijer! It is very clean well-organized. What really caught my attention was the bakery area. They have a lot of products that I haven't seen at other locations. Normally when there is a function that requires cake, I would be let down after hearing that it was from the supermarket. But after seeing some of what was offered here, I wouldn't be offended at all if it was from this store. They also have nice-looking donuts and buns. read more

Brand new location, naturally everything is fresh and clean. Noticeably greater selection of merchandise compared to most Meijer stores downstate, which is a plus when you have a Walmart Supercenter across the street. The customer service ranged from surprisingly excellent, with associates in the area taking the time to stop and ask if you were finding everything okay, to less-than-stellar with scattered attention when checkout lines back up. This review is for Meijer Optical. Employee, Carrie, was unbelievably professional, friendly and helpful. Had issues with a defective frame and she went above and beyond to get me a new frame. While waiting for the new frame to come in, I was going to use an older pair of glasses as a backup, but could not find them. She agreed to give me back the defective pair to get me by until the new ones came in. She could not have been more patient and honest. If I were opening a new business, any business, I would hire this woman. This kind of work ethic and treatment of customers is becoming more rare every day. read more

Too many people not wearing masks. Several of them wore them below their chin (useless). Several people didn't have them at all. They don't enforce the mask mandate in the slightest. They are putting their older customers at risk. read more

This has got to be THE friendliest Meijer I have ever been in!!!! No less than 8 employees greeted me and asked me how I was and wanted to help me find anything I might be looking for. This is a newer Meijer and it really shows. The place is spotless and well lit. The aisles are wide and everything is very accessible. The meat and produce areas were well stocked and everything was very fresh. It's a nice choice to go to besides the Wal Mart across the street. I hope the good people of Alpena embrace this store and it is here for the long haul because I had a great shopping experience here!!!! read more

This is a great store, super clean and bright and fun to shop in. Employees are nice and helpful, and my kids love the samples they have sometimes and stopping to say hi to the live lobsters. They have a yarn and craft section, awesome makeup selection including some fancier brands like the balm and bare minerals, and lots of vitamins and supplements. read more

Organized/clean atmosphere, always stocked shelves/quantity, everyday sales including the Mperks with digital coupons, free money for spending a set amount in 30 days program that has saved me over $200 since the beginning of 2017, and the customer service is 100x's better than Wal-Mart's employees . Meijers has become the favorite of the people they serve in Alpena. Keep up the domesticated elements that makes Meijers better than your competition. I love this Meijer in Alpena, MI and am so glad that they decided to locate here. I previously shopped at Meijer in Royal Oak and Waterford, MI and those locations cannot even compare to this one in Alpena. It's a really nice store, clean and well organized but the best part of shopping here is one of the greeters. His name is Pat and this man makes every visit to this store an absolute joy. Every time I go there I so look forward to seeing him. Pat has people skills down to an art form and this store is extremely fortunate to have him there. He really should be conducting classes in the art of customer service and public relations. I hope Meijer Corporate realizes what an asset he is to their image. I just love this guy! read more

Meijer is the place I go to get everything! They are constantly having sales on produce, other foods, beauty products, and clothes. Their produce is always fresh and they sell it for a good price as well. They have more of a variety of makeup lines than Walmart does. I will occasionally even find cute clothing items there. The staff is friendly and always helpful and the store is the cleanest I've ever seen. read more

Worst service I've ever had in a department store, I was told that my Minnesota State drivers license is fake because of how it looks (keep in mind no one knows what the I.D. Is supposed to look like at all). So I was denied buying alcohol twice. All of the managers agreed it was a fake I.D. Because it is apparently a little flimsy compared to the Michigan I.D. I don't ever recommend buying alcohol from this store unless you want to be embarrassed in front of everyone and check out through customer service everytime. When I finally was about to leave I asked if they know what a Minnesota I.D. Looks like now (because they said they were going to look it up in this "book" full of picture I.Ds from out state) and she said no we don't!! So I guess I'm never going to Meijer again because it's going to be an issue every single time!!! read more

While I agree with other reviews about cleanliness, service, selection, etc., no one has mentioned quality or expiration dates. Buyer beware. Check every "best by" or expiration date before you buy, even frozen foods! I purchased garlic bread in June and after coming home, saw the best by date was December of the previous year! Their dairy is almost always at the sell by date. This includes milk, (1% milk had a sell by date last week of the following day), heavy cream which should be good for weeks had a date only a few days out, cream cheese on sale, every package had a date of the following day. I never purchase here without scrutinizing the dates. I needed two pounds of potatoes and it was more economical to buy a five pound bag. It's a good thing I did. Every single potato was partially rotten. By the time I had peeled and cut the usable portions and reached the 2 lbs I needed, and had one potato left in the bag! I'm not sure if they are ordering more than they can sell or why they would consistently have this problem. I shopped Meijer in Ohio and never had this issue. At a minimum they should be discounting these products vs attempting to sell them at full price. read more
