I recently came here for the first time and I had their lamb kabob wrap, which I thought was great. The lamb was tasty and the bread was fresh. The chai tea was great as well. I will come back again!

$30 Lamb Kabob + 2 sides + naan

Lamb was overcooked and tough to chew. I should have asked for tender and juicy. The spinach was excellent. Service was excellent. Free parking in the back of the building.

Butter Chicken and Samosa Chat

I used to be a regular at Meehan's location on Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington, D.C., so I was happy to see that they opened an Arlington outpost. I just ordered some food for delivery, and thought it was pretty good. Specifically, the naan, palak paneer, and samosa chat were all very good, but I was a little disappointed by the Butter Chicken, which fell a little flat compared to the other dishes - needed seasoning and more depth of flavor. I'll definitely go again, but probably not the butter chicken. Also, this time around I ordered on UberEats, and there was no way to customize your dish order (I wanted to order the Butter Chicken spicier than usual, but could not).

I absolutely love the search for authentic Pakistani food and recently tried this place on a weekday for lunch. They were moderately busy when I went, which is always a good sign. Upon entering, I saw what looked like a buffet, but it was actually a display of the "cafeteria" style food you can order. I opted for a "plate" which was a very large tin dish that that holds an entrée and two sides, plus rice. The entrées they offered all looked great and they actually had Kofta Anday, which is meatballs with hard boiled egg in a curry. I've always loved this dish growing up and Mehran did an excellent job with it!! Their rice was also excellent, as was their yogurt mint chutney. For side dishes, I opted for aloo muttar and aloo saag and both were stunning! The saag was spot-on perfect! The spice level in all the dishes was perfect as well, which means it had a little kick to it. So, for $14.99 I got all this food plus a bread, in my case I asked for a roti, which was pretty good as well, but next time I'd go for a naan. I really enjoyed this visit and will definitely return!!

Achar Chicken

This place was recommended to me by other foodies. This is now my default place for Pakistani food. I had the Achar Chicken, and it was delicious. I had Saag Goat the previous night, and it was amazing as well. I can eat this everyday.

There is something wonderful to be said about walking into a restaurant later at night, hungry as can be, and smelling the wonderful arrangement of aromas Mehran is filled with. The staff was wonderfully friendly in answering our questions as we stumbled in out of the cold. I imagine the dishes would taste amazing any day of the week, but with the snow still heavy on the ground each bite of warm chicken tikka masala and nauratan curry gave us the strength to venture back outside. With so many options to choose from, Mehran is a place you can't go to just one time. The portion sizes are very generous so make sure you come hungry!

What a great spot for karak chai and pakora cravings!!! Whenever I am in DMV, I stop by here for fresh vegetables pakoras and karak chai, it never disappoints. I am yet to try anything else on the menu but if you are looking for a place with delicious chai and crispy pakoras, this is where it is at. Plus they have free parking in the back which is a plus. Highly recommended for your desi chai and snack fix!

Huge fan of the food here! The front may look unassuming, but there's plenty of seating inside. We got the Goat Saag and aloo pratha, both of which were delicious. I love the herby yogurt sauce that comes with as well. Will be returning!

The lamb tikka wrap is as delicious as it is affordable! I would absolutely come here again.

It's been about 16 hours or so since we completely scraped the plates clean, yet I'm still thinking about this meal. My GOD IN HEAVEN. We ordered the chicken karahi (which takes about 25 mins to make), mutton biryani, and two beef samosas. When I say EVERYTHING was delicious?! - beef samosa-- large with really delicious, flaky dough. They're served piping hot with mint chutney and tamarind chutney. - mutton biryani-- soooo good! Absolutely one of the best biryanis I've ever had. It was well-seasoned with just a kick of spice. There were salted plums (I think) in it which added a nice touch. - chicken karahi-- a depth of flavor out of this world and well worth the 25 min wait! So, so delicious! (My mouth is watering as I type this.) it's served with two large pieces of naan which were also so good. I'm plotting on my return RIGHT NOW.

Tandoori Naan

My friend and I stumbled upon this place and decided to try it, not having heard anything about it before. We were pleasantly surprised to say the least! We shared a few things and each left with a container of leftovers and our total for the night was $38 after tax and tip, an insane deal. The portions were excellent for the money! We started with the vegetable pakora which were super crispy and you could tell they were made right before hitting the table. The vegetable biryani was massive, enough for 2-3 meals, and had great spice and flavor. The Shahi Paneer was our favorite, it had a sweeter tomato sauce with excellent flavor. The naan it came with was delicious as well. Before we left, the man at the cash register also let us try the gulab jamun which was probably the best I've ever had. Perfectly warm, soft, and sweet. The restaurant was very clean and as tables left the man was walking around cleaning them with spray. This place was an incredible find and I will definitely be ordering from them in the future!

May not look overly tidy nor fancy, but the staff do a great job on overshadowing the ambiance. This time we went for Poori, halwa, channa and accompanied by paki chai. So here is the thing. Throughout DMV, it is hard to find all the above that has the perfect flavor, not to crispy, nor too soft poori. Or channa too spicy, not well cooked or not flavorful. Or the tea just lacks that sting to the taste. After tried many poori halwa serving places Tosso, Niralla Sweets, Cha lounge, Shineys and one Bombay at Tyson's) I can say with certainty, that Ravi Kaboob has the best combo. They even had cashew in the halwa in addition to other dry fruits and the halwa wasn't all about sugar and semolina, but had the good blend so it accompanied well to the chai. Bottom line, if you can see away from the ambiance and just want to have the best poori halwa channa weekend breakfast, this is def place to go! But be sure to call upfront, because even though they are supposed to have it from 1100-4.00 in the weekend, they simply run out way before that time. Probably good to ask them to save your portions and confirm your timely arrival.

PLEASE READ BEFORE GOING:…read more I decided to give this place a try after being recommended their Chapli Kabobs and being told they were the best. I couldn't resist and decided to treat my mom to a dinner on Mother's Day. What we ordered: Chapli kabobs, lamb karahi, chicken biryani, lassi and chai. Food was okay, i honestly think any Pakistani moms' biryani would be better. Chapli kabobs were pretty good but not to die for. And i honestly think you can find better karahi for cheaper. I loved their chai the most out of everything. Total came down to around $120. Plenty of parking is available in the back. But it was completely empty when we walked in around 5pm on a Sunday. This place has ROACHES. When we got our naan for the karahi, it came on a skewer stand that came out of a wooden block. As soon as the waiter set it on the table and left, a baby roach crawled out of the wooden block. I killed it and told the waiter and the only thing he said was "Oh my God" and took it back to the kitchen. No apology or acknowledgment. But there was some yelling heard from the kitchen. We got our new fresh naan on a plate this time. After we got our chai and were relaxing, I look up towards the tv, there is ANOTHER ROACH crawling up. I got the check and just wanted to leave. The bathrooms were clean enough but there was a leak coming from the flush handle in the women's bathroom and there was a bucket underneath for the water to drip. Overall, I would not recommend and would rather try the other Middle Eastern/South Asian restaurants in the area to try.

Would not recommend coming back here. This restaurant is a disaster. They also automatically charge an 18% tip for a party of TWO or more. So even if service is atrocious, you'll still be forced to tip.

Here's my first guess: This place is awesome and the people in the know don't want others knowing about it. This is the one that makes the most sense. They already do a brisk business and the current customers don't want to wait any longer than they already have to. My second guess: some people are totally clueless and don't understand that this is a place where your meal is an event and not just dinner. If you want to eat and run, go to McDonalds. This is the place where you come to eat, sip your chai, and enjoy the company of those around you. Food takes time to cook...figure it out people. Okay...about the food: WOW! So delicious and all perfectly cooked. I have to open with the one dish that was absolutely stunning: the lamb chops. The seasoning was spot on and flavorful while the cook point (which appears to be hard for many restaurants it seems) was flawless. Tender from end-to-end without a sign of chewiness. Next up on the menu hit parade was the Chapli Kebab. That little bit of char on the outside combined with the seasoned meat made this a repeat order for sure. Check the pics and you'll see what I'm talking about. The last but definitely not least on the list was the massive Namkeen Chicken Tikka. There was enough food on this order for three people and it was awesome! There was a smokiness to the meat that permeated beautifully and each piece was amazingly tender. We couldn't finish this one and it ended up in the to-go bag. Seriously, it huge. The service, decor, and general ambiance of Shinwari was so great too. The staff were totally professional and the families enjoying the props (which included a auto rickshaw) where fun to watch. I will be coming back here FOR SURE. Bring a close friend or five and enjoy an amazing evening.
