Solid brunch spot in jersey shore! This place is bustling, I did not expect it to be so busy but clearly this is the place to be on a Sunday morning! There was about a 30 minute wait, but there's ample chairs and free coffee for you while you wait! Food: the food was pretty solid, nothing mind blowing but simple and good! I had the south side wrap without ham, and it had a lot of flavor! The side of home fries was my favorite! We also got a short stack of blueberry pancakes, which resembled your diner pancakes! Service: they are pretty busy but they try and get to you fast and are attentive Price: reasonably priced!

It took about 40 minutes for our breakfast food to come out, and I get they were busy but it still seemed a bit much. We barely got checked on and they have so much wait staff for such a small place that was weird to me. We had thought about ordering sandwiches to go for later but based on the time it took for the breakfast food decided against it. Good thing because we had just got our food and no more than 10 minutes after it came out someone came and slapped a bill on our table barely looked at us and said no rush and didn't ask if we wanted or needed anything else. We just got our food even if we had been there a while, it was because it took so long for food to come out, seemed kind of rude. When I was pouring syrup on my pancake the whole lid popped off and dumped so much on my entire plate and I didn't say anything to anyone cause no one came by and we already had our check. Luckily I already ate my eggs so they didn't get doused in syrup. I grew up in Lavallette but don't live here anymore and I always loved coming to Meg's. I have come here and there over the years since I'm not that far, and I've never had an experience like this so it really threw me off. I will probably never come back and that makes me a little sad since it was such a staple growing up, and the food IS good and very fairly priced. I don't know if it was an off day or what but I will probably never come back.

Just spent the week in Lavallette and due to it being Preseason and covid, many places were not yet open. We tried out Megs for lunch on Day 1 and ended up coming multiple times for takeout lunch, breakfast outdoors, etc. Every time our food was fresh and delicious and the service was quick. My French toast at breakfast was DELICIOUS!!! I will definitely be back!!

Meg's was the final stop on our noble chum posse adventure in Lavallette, and a pleasant one. We had a crew of five people for this meal, and thankfully were able to get seated almost immediately upon arrival. It was a Tuesday mid-morning, with a decent crowd throughout the restaurant and in the small outdoor dining section. My memory of this adventure involved a lot of squinting - I foolishly went into the ocean the day before with my sunglasses on and promptly lost them to the sea, so the 15-minute walk to Meg's in the sun was not one of my favorites. Obviously not Meg's fault. Leave your prized possessions under the cabana. Upon menu perusal, I immediately imprinted on Meg's Scramble, which was basically a pile of eggs, cheese, home fries and bacon. It was like a breakfast sandwich threw up on my plate in the best way possible. You can see from the attached that it was a giant portion, not even including the four pieces of pre-buttered toast. In hindsight I'm not sure how I polished this off and still managed to eat anything else the rest of the day, but perhaps that's the power and beauty of vacations. Very scrumptious though - if you're in the mood for a hearty, savory, dish, it's hard to go wrong with something like this. And at $9, the price point was one of the best I saw down the shore, though honestly a lot of them were pretty decent. Everyone else was pleased with their meals as well. In true diner fashion, Meg's had paper placemats with a collection of local business advertisements, which prompted a fun "I spy" game focused on the tinier objects in the pictures (try to find the dinosaur). We didn't have to wait particularly long for our meals, but that certainly helped pass the time a bit. On our way out, I literally got a parting gift. Meg's, like many establishments in a touristy area, has a line of apparel/merchandise for sale. I fell immediately in love with a blue long-sleeved shirt with a sasquatch on it, which was one of my prized mementos from this delightful shore excursion. And it's not cheap, coarse material rubbing against your skin that you regret purchasing the minute you put it on. It will be a part of my noble wardrobe for quite a while, I suspect. One of the reasons Jersey has such an affinity for its diners is because they're so easy, and I mean that in the best way. You're getting a predictable, consistent experience and typically ordering off a menu with a lot of options to choose from. It's nearly impossible not to find something you're in the mood for. This wasn't one of the more memorable places we stopped (apart from the sasquatch shirt), but it did what it was supposed to do, and that's most of the battle.

Food was okay but the service was horrible . Waitress spilled my orange juice and left the wet napkins and everything for us to clean up and didn't even bring us more . We didn't see our waitress the whole time we were eating . We had to get our own napkins and new utensils . No thanks. read more

I tried this restaurant for the first time today. Everything was great. As we walked in, the staff was cleaning the tables, seats and condiments. The staff was so friendly. The menu looked awesome and extensive but I had to try their chicken salad because that's always my go to. My sandwich and my husband's Cuban panini were both excellent. The fries were super hot, the way we like them. The prices were very reasonable. read more

Would highly recommend. Me and my girlfriend had lunch this afternoon and it was busier than normal on a Sunday of a holiday weekend in a shore town which was to be expected. So of course it took a little longer than normal to receive our food. The owner (I'm assuming. Or at very least the manager on duty) came over and apologized and comped our meal. In addition, she brought us out a free plate of xut fresh fruit and gave us a $30 gift card. Highly unexpected and appreciated. Will definitely be back and we made sure to properly take care of the wait staff. read more

Excellent Breakfast & Lunch/Brunch!! Open Yearly and a Hot Spot for the Locals year round as well as all vacationers! Eat inside or Outside or order for Curbside Pickup for yourself & guests! Great traditional breakfast as well as Omelettes & Breakfast wraps/burritos! Lunch Menu is Awesome as well!! Love all their Sandwiches and wraps and Panini Sandwiches! I've only been to this place a few times and have only ever gotten take-out from here, but food service for pick up is always quick and friendly. The food is pretty average in my opinion, and the Old Faithful (pork roll, egg, and cheese) could've used more substance as I felt I was just eating bread. They do give a generous side of home fries which are well seasoned and tasty. Overall, reliable place at a reasonable price but does always seem to be crowded when I pass by. read more

LOVE this place!! There is always a wait so prepare for it, it's a smallish breakfast/lunch joint right on the main strip. This past time we sat at the counter after about a 20 min wait (told us 40). It was really cool to sit up there and watch the guys on the grill work their asses off. I was so impressed by their speed and multi-tasking and how they were just churning out dish after dish. It's also refreshing to see the same faces there every time on both the grill and the server side. I always see the same group of people working and it's refreshing. The one guy waiter is one of the nicest, chillest people and always seems to be in a good mood which can be contagious. Today I got the Detour which is a turkey panini with provolone, roasted red peppers, avocado and spinach, it's delicious. My girlfriend got a sausage and cheddar omelette with home fries which are seasoned well. Highly recommend this place, best place in the area for breakfast, we come almost every weekend that we're down at the beach. Sorry, forgot pictures because we are always so hungry and just scarf down our food! read more

love megs. it's a smallish comfortable and very cozy. I'm local so I can take advantage of megs in the off season . it still attracts a crowd but not too bad. the food is excellent. I love their pancakes, or omelets. my,kids have had other food here and love it. I've also had lunch here and love their chicken salad. Recommend it highly. read more

Good, solid american brunch, well seasoned and the tater tots were very crispy and delicious. Th omelette was very homey, but not enough filling. My wife had the Clean Up set, which had everything. One thing I didn't like was how the staff handled the bread that came on your plate. A couple of the servers who also doubled as hostess, busing plates were distributing the bread with their bare hands in between other chores. read more

The owner Meg was extremely nasty when telling us to turn my phones volume off. Our autistic son was doing nothing wrong and not one person complained about it. Walked up with family & got an outside table almost immediately. Service was excellent and efficient. Food was flavorful and serving size was excellent. Sampled from the pancakes and they were yummy. Omelette was excellent as was the multigrain toast. Star of the show was the hash browns.... got to get them! Will definitely be back again. read more

A Jersey Shore tradition for those seeking a breakfast or lunch treat. Met friends for lunch and was greeted by plenty of choices to entertain the taste buds. I tried a peanut butter and strawberry jelly sandwich with grilled bananas as I felt like something different. It was a sweet and good experience. My companions tried various burgers off the menu but were not disappointed and found them delectable. Little to say we all enjoyed the meal. P.S. Little breakfast joint down the jersey shore.. The best part of this joint is that there is a liquor store next door and it's BYOB keep the party rolling till the AM. Breakfast quesaDILLA was a 10!!!! I caught heat from my boys for throwing out a 10 but I'll stand by my score. The service is average at best but my coffee cup was filled so who I am to complain. I recommend Megs Grill to about everybody I meet in the Lavallette area. The staff is unbelievably kind and welcoming, everything on the menu is excellent, and the prices are fair and perfect for a quick bite. A few of my favorite menu items are the Big Fat Greek Omelet, Chicken / Pesto panini, and a classic grilled cheese with tomato and bacon. I usually add home fries to everything I get. They are awesome and match any menu item for breakfast or lunch perfectly. Food comes out fast after you order, and if you are stuck outside for a wait they offer complimentary coffee. When you walk into Megs, everybody is treated like a regular. The staff does a great job of managing such a busy summertime hot spot that really fills up on a rainy weekend morning. My advice, go to Lava Java. Lol Had pork roll sandwiches (my fav) and they were ok, which is just kinda pathetic bcuz it's very very tough to ruin pork roll. I will possibly try again only bcuz it's a block and half away walk. read more

They delivered in every way imaginable this morning after more than one nightmarish experience down here this summer. They were basically packed but we got sat right away. The wait staff was really hustling and it wasn't missed. Got a BLT($6), French toast and my wife got a burger. Loved every bite and will definitely be back. The service was very attentive as well they were making sure we had everything we needed. read more

Whenever someone asks for a breakfast recommendation, I always recommend Meg's first. Casual dining that reminds you of eating at grandma's kitchen table. Always a friendly staff. Food quality and taste is always excellent. Portions are just right. Gets busy, and there is usually A wait during peak times. Worth the trip and the wait! Street parking only. read more

The Meg was within walking distance of where we had staked our claim on the beach and had the best ratings in the area. We decided to give it a try for lunch. My wife had the chicken salad which she enjoyed and I had the blueberry pancakes which were decent. It is a quaint place in an easy to get to location with a very pleasant staff. Would definitely recommend to others when they visit Lavallette. read more

For her meal she ordered the goat cheese and mushroom frittata and I had the Meat lovers omelet with a biscuit and well done potatoes (bacon, sausage, ham and pork roll, cheddar). My wife liked hers - came with arugula on top and a drizzle of olive oil. Mine was also good, but it had a flavor, probably in the sausage, that I just couldn't place. Overall a very nice experience. Very good service, cute location, off-season parking was easy, and very good food.

The only constraint was the menu. Oh, the menu. Dammit. I had to follow the written rules of the restaurant when ordering. It was not the free-for-all I had in mind. But that's ok. That'll do. It'll be fine. I got some delicious french toast sticks, which is a superior medium for french toast, if we are being honest. They were slightly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, the way a gourmand would envision when thinking about french toast. Being that I was in New Jersey (and mandated by state law), I ordered pork roll as a side. It wasn't the pac-man style cut, but the little corner cuts, which I prefer (though sometimes they look like an iron cross and that can be sketchy if the place had a German flag or something). The pork roll was cooked just the way I like it. A little crust, a deep color, and piping hot. We got a plate of fruit, which was...wow, I don't even know where to begin. It was a plate of fruit, sure, but it seemed super in-season and fresh. I mean, sure, it is blueberry season, and strawberry season just ended, but both were so perfect on this plate.
