Great idea. Double decker bus for travel. Cost is inexpensive. Accommodating for travelers that may not want to spend lots on a last minute pricey airline ticket, bus ride with Greyhound or a train Amtrak train ticket. $16 for a one way ticket to Houston or Atlanta... gets no better!!!! Prompt arrival of out-going busses, quick & accurate boarding of departing passengers. I would encourage future riders to arrive early as picking of the seats is 1st come 1st served. The staff that is there to facilitate the smooth transition are excellent in their demeanor and professional attitude; dealing with the masses can sometimes be trying. But they handled it effortlessly. My only concern or issue is the bus stop. It's almost like a search to find it. But I guess once people start utilizing the service more then word will get out about the obscure location of the bus stop. I'd like to see them move the bus stop to a more central location, oh well maybe in the future. Until then, Wooooooo Hoooooooo Megabus!!!! read more

The terminal was very old.I used vending machines and bought some drink and food.The bus left at 9am sharp.Everything was okay. Megabus is one of the cheapest transportion. I was weary about what to expect on my return journey to Houston from New Orleans. Considering that they Houston leg showed up over an hour late, I expected none the less from the New Orleans branch. Surprise, suprise...they were early! I arrived at the bus stop and people were patiently waiting on the bus. The bus driver and staff were awesome and efficient. I purchased a ticket for the MegaBus to Atlanta from New Orleans Louisiana on July 18th for 4:15pm (BUS #DD549) Upon walking up to board the bus the driver yells out "PULLING OUT!" We try to ask where to board he says it again. Finally the other MegaBus employee tells us to show the driver our confirmation number I believe that's what it's called. I open my cell phone to the email to show him the confirmation number. The driver asks me "What's that?" I said "that's the confirmation number is it not?" He never responded to me again after I asked him repeatedly if it was correct. He just pulled out a pen and began to write on a paper. I boarded the bus and got into my reserved seat and prepared for the trip. After getting into the interstate my sister and I noticed he swerved to the left quite often, out of his lane and onto the shoulder of the road or into the other lane. We asked each other if he was sleepy. 2 hrs passed of the constant swerving to the left and rolling over onto the shoulder then it begins to rain very hard. We are going over a bridge over water and every other car slows down with their hazard lights on except the bus we are on. He ends up swerving to the left as usual by this time but now he has to slam on the breaks after coming too close to a car. This rattled the entire top of the bus as a few passengers gasped and let out low screams. He finally slows down and the swerving to the left continues, numerous cars are honking at him ask they try to pass him on the left but he is over into their lane. Next thing you know this knocking sound starts, I figured it was the windshield wipers but quickly remembers it been raining and the sound just started. It gets louder and prevents anyone from resting during the ride. I have had so many nice experiences with mega bus by this was is awful and I haven't even gotten to my destination yet.. I'm 2 hours in. Lastly I would like to speak about the condition of the bus, I have pictures of the falling not apart and broken items on the bus. There are paper sticking into vent holes, lights broken so I can't read etc. My return trip from Atlanta was even worse. I purchased 4 tickets for July 19th 6:10am . My sister and my 2 nieces and I waited for the Mega Bus to arrive at the Marta station in Atlanta for 2 and a half hours until it finally arrived. After boarding the bus we realize none of the chargers on the top deck work except 4 of them, so the entire top of the bus had to rotate people's phones to try and let everyone get a charge. After about 2 hours into the ride the AC stops working and it gets very hot, you can see every passenger reach up to feel if the air is working. I go downstairs to see if it's just upstairs and even the bus driver was sweating profusely. Babies are crying and a woman almost passed out, her husband had to help her lay down and fan her. My nieces were in tears because the ride was so long and uncomfortably hot. I'm only lucky I had water to give to them and for myself to help us deal with this awful condition we had to ride in. I paid extra for a reservation on the megabus traveling from New Orleans to Houston leaving 9am today. (...that left 10 minutes late!) The driver is in need of training in common courtesy and customer service. As soon as we entered the bus in New Orleans, the two ladies in front of me were trying to figure out where they were sitting. The driver, instead of assisting them, gave them dirty looks and then proceeded to insult them. They were not completely familiar with how it all worked and were just trying to get their bearings. The driver really should have been helpful, but instead used negative body language and insults that did nothing but belittle them. The ladies happened to be seated in lower level reserved seats #62 and #66. Window seats facing each other with a table in between. My reserved seat was #67, an isle seat at the same table next to #66. I am 230lb, 5'9" male. The seating situation was a little tight to get comfortable. Fortunately, there were 4 non-reserve seats just across the aisle in the similar set up and all empty. Only 8 total sitting in the lower level, which has 24 seats. Shortly after the bus departed, I decided to move across the isle to one of the many empty seats. It was only 2 minutes later that the bus driver got on the intercom and asked that ticket #69-xxxx report to him while driving. When I stepped over to see what the problem was, he proceedes to grill me about my reserved seat and that I needed to return to that seat immediately. I didn't understand why. Had I not paid extra for the reserved seat, I could have chosen any non reserved seat on the bus (which most are) and sat comfortably. Instead, I was essentially being punished and forced to sit in the reserved seat, even though we had 16 empty seats on the lower level. My biggest concern was that this driver was more concerned with punishing me after paying extra for a reservation than he was with focusing on the driving of the bus and the safety and welfare of the passengers. This was the return trip of a first time using Megabus and this driver left a very poor impression. Not sure if I will ever ride the Megabus again or if I do, I surely won't waste my money on a reservation. The driver seemed very unhappy and was working hard to make others around him unhappy too. People like that don't need to be working in an industry that requires any customer service or interaction. More importantly though was his focus on such a non issue instead of driving then bus safely. On a final note. Why does he get to play music on the bus without headphones when no one else can? I'm not going to review the stop, because the stop we stopped at was a temporary location due to Mardi Gras, but I will review the service. First things first, if you are going to take the Megabus, download the app for your phone. Since there is no station in Baton Rouge (just a street corner, thankfully with benches) there'll be nobody there to tell you if/when a bus is late. Download the app, they keep it very well updated. My bus was about 15 minutes late to Baton Rouge from Houston, but only about 5 minutes late into New Orleans. Driver was very very nice and courteous, and helpful. If you are planning ahead, you can get really cheap tickets on Megabus, and as long as you keep an eye on the app, you'll never get stuck on a street corner waiting all day. read more

I needed a cheap way to get to the Houston due to unforeseen circumstances. After briefly racking our brains hubby and I decided to check out bus fares to and from our location. Due to excellent marketing the Greyhound bus line was our first thought as to where to purchase a bus ticket. A brief conversation with a family friend, however, quickly changed our minds. Not only was this cheaper it was also clean, efficient and on time. The bus stops seem to be all located in well populated well lit areas so safety doesn't seem to be an issue. There are no bus shelters but I could care less as everything else was excellent. (I believe this is a deliberate maneuver by the company as a cost saving measure. ) The picture another reviewer posted of a super clean toilet is no exaggeration folks! Oh and the electrical outlets all over the bus to charge your phones/laptop are a super nice plus. I would definitely ride with this company again :). read more

Good, efficient, cheap service. Leaves on time and reaches destination on time. Driver had air conditioning on while it was 50 degrees outside. I am not sure why... it was very, very cold. WiFi does not work. A guy in the back of the bus was rapping to himself for hours while he listened to music on his headphones. It was disruptive to the otherwise quiet bus, but that's not Megabus' fault I guess. Maybe he rides so often, he thought it was his own personal vehicle, BUT IT'S NOT. read more

I wish I could give it zero stars. This is one fucked up way to run a business. It appears the lone worker that works the New Orleans operation comes and goes as he pleases as do the buses. I got to the ticket booth in New Orleans the day before the tropical storm Gordon was supposed to hit somewhere along the gulf coast but well east of New Orleans. The disinterested, ear plugged, music listening troglodyte working the booth rudely told me that all further departures from New Orleans were cancelled due to the storm. Now who would make that call? I got a Greyhound ticket and showed up the next morning only to find out that my trip with them was cancelled because the bus was coming from Atlanta and would have to cross the path of the tropical storm to get to New Orleans. I gave up and went back home and bought a Megabus ticket online for the next day. The threat of the puny storm had passed. I get to the Megabus waiting area well in advance and wait but see no attendant nor a bus. Ten minutes prior to the scheduled departure time a security guard makes an announcement that the attendant and the bus will not show up until 4:45 PM (7 hrs, 45 mins) after the scheduled departure time. I and the rest of the waiting passengers were up in arms. We received no advance warning, no email, no nothing. Megabus does everything by email....why were not their customers notified? I was dropped off by my wife who went off to work so I was stuck like chuck. I would keep Megabus as a last resort. This European company places no value on customer service. read more

Megabus is one of the worst places you can ever try to ride a bus the Ticketmaster was rude and gay as hell and the supervisor on the phone was pleasantly rude and didn't do anything to better my situation. The Ticketmaster almost got into a fight with my son-in-law because he refused to inform us that the bus was leaving as he saw me standing there with my grandson saying goodbye to everyone I had to go to him and ask him which way do I go he looks at me with a very gay snooty disrespectful look and said that ship already sailed honey. NEVER NEVER NEVER take a megabus, especially during holidays!!! They charge you freaking much, and their service sucks as hell. The back support, especially the head, is very narrow. You don't know where to rest your head when you sleep. The legroom is very small without any place to properly place your stuff. The windows expand throughout the bus, but there is no curtain to block the sunlight. Although they provided free WIFI, it was so slow that you can't even watch any video. I live and work in the French Quarter so have no need for a car..use public transportation. I have used MegaBus to go to Mobile for a day trip 3 times now. Terminal staff are beyond rude..bus is okay on morning trip..coming back in afternoon it is a pigsty..smelly and messy. Can put up with all that to lessen by footprint on the environment but after being over-charged twice...I WILL RENT A CAR FROM NOW ON! Ride from Hell....took Mega Bus for the first time for the experience instead of driving, on Thursday February 7th, 2019 from Houston to New Orleans. The 1st hour was so so, but the next 5 hours we feared for our lives after driver fell asleep behind wheel and a passenger had to shake him to wake him. We were told bus/driver came in from Dallas prior to our fearful journey which means he's been driving for some time and was definitely tired. He wasn't holding his lanes...Several vehicles were blowing at him and he pretty much rode on the lane markers the whole trip, probably to try to keep himself up. I was never so afraid for my family and my safety as well as the other passengers, some also with young children. The goal of sending this complaint is not to get anyone fired, because after all its only natural for anyone to be tired after such driving...I would like Mega Bus to implement better safety guidelines for their drivers and the safety of their passengers. It was a midnight-6am schedule. I am so afraid to get back in another Mega Bus to get home. I am seeking other transportation back to Houston. read more

I recently rode Megabus from Gainesville, Florida to New Orleans and was impressed with the cleanliness of the bus, the price (I paid $1.00 for my seat!), the courteous drivers, and the fact that the bus arrived at each rest stop and the two stations along the route exactly on time. There are only two possible negatives, and they're not enough for me to lower my review to 4 stars: 1. Please believe them when they warn you about the limited carry-on space. The under-seat storage is less than what is on an airplane. 2. The one Toilet on the bus started out very clean. However, people sometimes "missed" their mark, and the toilet floor became wet and smelly during the final couple of hours. The bus stops twice for 20 minutes (just east of Jacksonville and just east of Mobile), so use the restrooms there and, for heaven's sake, don't buy - and drink - the largest fountain drinks in Mobile unless you're prepared to "hold it"! All-in-all, a very positive experience! read more

Terrible customer service, in person and over the phone. Purchased a ticket for the wrong date but I didn't know until I arrived at the terminal. The employee laughed and said this is for tomorrow instead of today. I asked if I could switch it for today or cancel it, she replied "you can try" with a smirk. I had to go online and buy another ticket because they were boarding at this point. I called once I got on the bus and asked for a refund of the wrong ticket since I bought another ticket. The employee on the phone appeared to be helpful by asking for my information and confirmation information. The employee then states that she can't refund the trip or apply it to my current trip since I'm on the bus. I explained that the bus hasn't moved yet and that I could get off but she still refused to help. I took several trips using the megabus within the last month. I've been taking the overnight bus because of the convenience. I explained how easy it is to be confused about booking the wrong date. She didn't care and eventually hung up on me.
