Algiers Ferry Terminal is a short 5 mins. ferry trip across the mighty Mississippi River to Algiers Point a residential neighborhood. The ferry is double decker vessel has A/C plus seating inside as well as up staires, it was very clean, the staff was nice as well, it is very cheap and use the same tickets as NOLA MTA, $2.00 each way or you can get the jazzy pass for all day for .80 One of the best thing about taking this ferry is you will get some absoltely gorgeous pictures of NOLA.

The ferry is sooo fast and upgraded now! The TVs are a nice touch even though it only shows the same commercial.. I still hate that no cars are still allowed.

This review is to address the entire RTA transit system including ferry, bus, and streetcar. The 1 day pass can be purchased from any Walgreens in New Orleans, transit office or the vehicle operator for $3 The ferry travels to Algiers Point in 15 minute increments between two boats. There isn't really anything here besides one town cafe and a long walking path along the river, not necessarily worth even coming except for riding the ferry. The street car rides along the rails and stops at each train stop if riders waiting, neat transport mode to ride once. Now the bus, we rode this to go to the botanical garden it was like pulling teeth. It literally stopped for anyone standing on the street not even at a designated bus stop. I would not recommend this mode of transportation if you are trying to travel quickly, take an Uber instead.

I love that ferry rides are included in the RTA pass Adult Jazzy Pass. A short ferry ride to Algiers Point neighborhood directly across from Downtown NOLA's Canal Street Ferry Terminal. There is an upper deck or inside, air-conditioned seating area to choose from.

Who knew there was a ferry connecting Algiers Point to NOLA? Not this chick, until Sorority sister told us about it! It's been a while and not just my memory but the photos I took are kinda fuzzy (sorry). We tried to time the ride (back in Sept. 2015, ya'll) with the sunset - which didn't quite work out. Still, back then it was $2 I think, so, after enjoying a nice chard at Vine and Dine (almost directly next door to the terminal and now, sadly closed), we queued up to board the ferry. The trip is short, I think someone said it lasts ~ 5 minutes, which sounds about right, and it stopped at two locations, one is where the outlet mall WWII museum is (near Harrah's) and the other location was closer to the main Café Du Monde location (neighborhood name escapes me). It seems like, at that time the ferry stopped running around 9 PM which was outside our timeframe, so we enjoyed a beautiful one way trip across the 'Sippi! This was a fun, unique, inexpensive, and convenient way to experience the Mighty Mississippi!!

Wahoo! Up and running at last, you can either bring exact change or more.....OR you can also buy a ticket through the RTA app....and hop on for a ride across the mighty Mississippi. This ferry is all brand new and shiny. It had been 8 months since i last took the trip. I did notice a few changes. Number one for now, MASK Up. Let's keep everyone safe until we tackle this Covid19. Got a bike? Sure! As you roll on, there are racks to slide into. Grab a seat and stay seated. Inside seating and a limited number of seats outside on the upper deck are available. You must stay in your seat during the duration of the trip. No more are the days of leaning against a rail and taking it all in. You'll have to do that from your seat, so choose accordingly. One one side you have your Riverwalk, Aquarium and the whole of downtown New Orleans and French quarters and on the other, the quaint storybook neighborhood of Algiers Point, Federal city and the Westbank as a whole. It makes for a nice little adventure, whichever way you're coming or going. On this fine day, we rode our bikes to have breakfast at Tout de Suite cafe in Algiers, then rode to the ferry and caught a ride to the other side, rode along the path through Woldenberg water front park to the french market and grabbed a daiquiri. Rode back to the park and found an open bench, day drank and people watched(i highly recommend this). When we were finished we rode back to the ferry and continued on our ride home. It was the perfect little outing and we still had tons of day for important stuff like napping.

Awesome small ferry with great service every half hour. Convenient and relaxing way to travel from the West Bank to New Orleans.

Not many places can you ride a boat without shelling out $$, but this ferry's one of them! Included with your nola Jazzy Pass or one-way $1.50, you can set sail with a double decker ferry and see the New Orleans skyline by day or night. Because it's a river crossing of barely 15 minutes, there's little chance for seasickness/motion sickness over the calm waters:) Upper deck has the wider view and enjoyable breeze, while lower interior deck has table booths and can be a hideout when it rains. We sat on the roof deck going to Algiers in the warm afternoon and returned in the shelter of the lower deck in the smattering of rain coming back to Canal ferry terminal.

For Mardi Gras the round trip ticket is $4 and the last ferry is at 9:45pm They are better organized. Bring exact change Better to buy round trip. Not sure if they have a booth for ticket purchases on the canal street eastbank side

Use the RTA gomobile app and save time and money. If you use the app it's $1.25 each way. If you don't then you need to have exact change and it's $2.00. The ferry arrives about every 30 min. It's a quick 5 minute ride to the other side of the river. It's fun and you get to see NOLA from the other side of the river.

They make a stop at the Chalmette Battlefield (you can get off the boat or stay and relax on the boat). There is a tour guide who talks about the battleground, which is pretty interesting. The best thing about the Creole Queen is the narrator. After the battlefield, the second half of the tour focuses on Hurricane Katrina. He wants that it can be disturbing and announced that if you didn't want to hear it, you can go to the dining room, as it isn't broadcasted in there. He is very candid, and I learned so much about the terrible way Hurricane Katrina was handled, as well as just how terrible the hurricane was. It was very, very sad. I highly recommend this tour. As I said, we enjoyed it so much the first time that we wanted to go back and share it with our son.

What could be better than a jazz cruise down the Mississippi river in New Orleans on Easter Sunday?…read more Taking the cruise in the rain. I fell in love with the Mississippi River on a rainy day Easter Sunday jazz cruise. The sky was gray and leaden. The rain was light but steady. The wind came and went. People wore their Easter finery with ponchos over their clothing to stay dry. We listened to jazz and ate muffins and drank coffee. We listened to the captain tell tales of New Orleans history and geography. We sat on benches overlooking the Mississippi River. We cuddled together with the wind blowing raindrops in our faces. The air was cool; the rain danced down. The wind played games with our ponchos and the purple scarf that I had wrapped around my head. The steamboat paddled along the Old Muddy. People sat in the dining room and the Captain's Salon. Others sat on the top deck in the rain. Teenagers took pictures standing at the bow under the American flag. Jazz played. Birds flew by. Two hours existed in a time capsule of wind and rain and music and water and joy.

They take your picture and then walk around trying to sell you an overpriced package afterward. I was born in New Orleans and never knew that the east bank side of the river near Braithwaite was actually named Scarsdale. However, I'm simply going to refer to it as the Belle Chasse ferry; but I digress. The Belle Chasse Ferry connects the towns of Belle Chasse and Braithwaite (Scarsdale) The ferry opened in sometime in the late 1950's was originally free of charge. Presently, tolls are it $1 for 2-axle vehicles, $2 for vehicles with at least 3 axles, and $.50 for motorcycles. According to the Plaquemines Parish government website, the eastbank ferry leaves every 15 and 45 minutes on the hour between 5:15 AM and 12:15 AM; the westbank ferry leaves on the top and bottom of every hour between 5 AM and Midnight. With the closing of the Pointe-a-la-Hache Ferry in January 2013, the Belle Chasse Ferry became the furthest down river vehicle crossing of the Mississippi River. Therefore it's pretty convenient if you plan your crossings according to the published schedule. The current ferry, named Plaquemines Pride, was built in 2004 and is in very good shape. Although many depend on the ferry for their transportation needs, I ride of of pure enjoyment; mostly for my son. The ferry is a favorite past-time for my him, and I haven't found a child who doesn't love to ride across the river. There's nothing like watching a child's excitement as the captain applies power and the props begin to kick up huge waves behind the boat and the whole deck vibrates from the power. Happy times!
