I would never use this company again, even if I was able to get one of their very cheap fares - which they make extremely difficult to obtain, although their advertisement gives the impression that these are routinely available. There are exactly 8 decent seats on a megabus - two in the front up top, and the rest at their table booths in the lower deck. But you are unlikely to score one of these, as megabus cogniscenti tend to arrive at the boarding place an hour or two early and grab them. Megabus' dirty little secret is that ALL of the other seats are unbelievably and ridiculously narrow, so that two people of ordinary dimensions seated side-by-side will necessarily find themselves forced to share a fleshy intimacy that neither will (usually) wish. There is exactly ONE (1) armrest to a pair of seats - the outside one on the aisle. Otherwise, each party is obliged to grab one arm with the other hand and hold on tightly for the entirety of the trip, lest one's arm stray unwittingly into one's seatmate's lap. It was as though the seats were saying: we do butts. Arms? we don't do arms, that's your problem. If someone is a bit broader in the beam than the average, which is hardly unusual these days, they are going to be in real trouble in one of these child-sized seats. The Sunday evening trip to Boston started out twenty minutes late, for no obvious reason, as it was full with the doors locked for 18 of those minutes. As we left, the driver cheerily announced that the reason the restroom was locked (!) was that the tank was full! Some caring, responsible company, right? This necessitated a stop at a McDonald's in Connecticut so that restroom needs could be accommodated, which lasted for twenty-five minutes. Then the bus, fully loaded up again, pulled into some dingy little alley while the driver went somewhere undisclosed for 15 minutes; no explanation offered. At this point, some of the passengers, who were mostly students - and college students, having made a successful career of following instructions, will generally willingly endure any discomfort or degradation if they can but witness their peers doing the same - even they were grumbling and writhing about in their kindergarten-sized seats. Then, to put the icing on the cake, the bus being at this point about an hour behind schedule, the driver, as soon as Massachusetts was entered, slowed the speed down to a limping crawl such that every single vehicle on the road, without exception, passed us, some of them honking in protest. Again, of course, no explanation offered. We couldn't have been going faster than 35 mph. This was indeed the fabled bus trip from Hell, although I didn't have the impression that it was different from the norm for Megabus. On the initial trip down to NYC, however, the driver made a consistent practice of tail-gating incredibly closely any car that had the ill luck to be directly in front of us, causing him to panic-slam the brakes on numerous times, propelling all of us violently forward, so that a girl across the aisle had her head banged into the seatback in front of her, and someone who happened to be returning to his seat was laid out sprawling on the aisle floor. That driver had no proper business driving a bus, or for that matter, any motor vehicle. The company is clearly out of control. The double-decker design that they use would be, moreover, a death-trap in any accident. This predatory, reckless, irresponsible company absolutely, totally sucks. Don't use 'em unless you absolutely have to.`````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````` read more
