Went on a Saturday around noon. Plenty of parking and not very crowded, although it did get busier by 1pm. Walked the entire store to see what they had. Tons of boxed lunches and a lot of variety from sushi to many different cooked foods. Many frozen meat and fish items but almost all are frozen (other then the bento lunches). That was a bit diappointing. Had a bento lunch at the Pogu - Bulgogi. This was a good meal with plenty of banchan Also bought a matcha drink at the Cafe which was good. Bought some cookies at the Bakery, which is gluten free. Overall experience was good, but it's pretty hard to get to since I live west of 280 and there's no easy way to get there except down Page Mill, which is very slow. It's easier to just go to downtown Palo Alto or MV. Probably fiine for people living close to 101. They are right next door to Home Depot and I never go there unless I have to do major hardware shopping like lumber. So it's unclear whether I would make the effort to go to Mega Mart except to get stacks of short ribs or shabu shabu meats. read more

I've gotten pancakes, rice cakes, kimbap, sushi rolls, fried chicken, mandu, galbijiim from here and they were all great. PSA the rice cakes here (even the rose ones) can be spicy, which is a pleasant surprise if you like spicy. There are tables and water near the cafe in the front of the store, so you can eat your newly acquired food in store before leaving. read more

I went here on a Tuesday night and this place was a ghost town. I'm not sure if they picked a terrible area to open a korean market in or if they just don't stack up to any good korean market. I was very impressed by this location's design, clealiness and look and feel. It felt almost like an ikea which is across the street. It forces you into a specific direction through the market. The front of store has a drink location that used to have great snacks and tteoboki, but when I went to order the snacks, the worker told me they just stopped selling those one day. There's another side where they have bento boxes of korean classics such as a bento bulgogi or galbi box. It looked clean but was completely empty. Even though my hatred for mega mart runs deep and the fremont location was such a disappointment. Definitely, the worst of all the korean grocery markets around. I felt bad for this location. They really tried to make a good thing here. It's better than fremont and if this existed in Fremont, would make a killing. (and I wouldn't despise them as much) I like this location, but I can tell they are already starting to give up. Not sure if this area can support them. I was torn with this review. I love they are using this space for a market. It's really needed for the area. Let me start by saying this is a great overall market if you're in the area, and certainly a great Asian market if this is your nearest option. That being said, if you are near other markets like a nice 99 Ranch, Hankook, or HMart, those are generally better options, especially when it comes to produce. What I really liked: * Nice wide aisles and lots of space in the store * Store felt very clean overall * A lot of prepared food options, including a seating area to eat - if you're looking for ready to eat food, you'll love it here * Big parking lot What could use improvement: * Small produce and fresh food selection - this was my biggest issue; the store had way too many packaged and prepared food options, and there's definitely enough space in the store to add more fresh food options, including fruits, vegetables, and seafood (even the meats really steered towards sliced, shabu, etc. vs. whole cuts). * Prices generally seemed quite a bit more expensive than other Asian markets * To the point above, some of the pricing felt intentionally deceptive - for example, they had prominent pricing for one type of vegetable (bok choy) , but then mixed in another type of vegetable (baby bok choy) in the same bin which was about 3x the price (with very fine print at the bottom that none of us saw) - I don't care about the actual price, but this felt like a short term optimization to get more spend from customers, but they will ultimately lose customers like me (especially if I have other reasonable alternatives). * The fresh produce and seafood area had a very odd layout that discouraged you from going back to a previous area. While the aisles were wide, they were arranged in an amusement park line style, twisting and turning in one long queue (vs. having multiple aisles). I'm not sure what the reason is, but it's almost like they want to push you into their prepared food area and discourage you from going back for produce and seafood I'm really happy this area has a new market (it's so needed here), but sorry to say, I won't be coming back with all the other options in the area. read more

Mega Mart's third location in the Bay Area! I frequent the Fremont store and was excited to check this new location out. Located in East Palo Alto by the IKEA, they took over the old Target store and it looks great. There is a lot of floor space and each section of the store has a huge selection of Korean groceries. I got here around 7pm and was happy to see they still had a decent amount of prepared foods available, which was also marked down by 50%. I picked up a fish cake kimbap and beef japchae for under ten dollars. They also had freshly made rice cakes and other pastries at their bakery. Of course I had to browse their cosmetics section and picked up some skin care too. They carry brands like Round Lab, Manyo, and more. I'm excited to shop here more! read more

This market is big, bright, and stocked with pretty much everything you would want in an Asian supermarket. I really liked the overall selection and how well-lit and clean the store felt. They have an app, plenty of parking right outside, and the location is convenient fast food nearby, Nordstrom Rack next door, and IKEA across the street. There is also a bakery, cafe, and prepared foods both in the front and the back, along with all the usual sections you would find similiar to what you would find at HMart. Prices felt competitive for the area. Spacious aisles inside in a large rectangular layout. I found a bathroom all the way in the back for anyone who really commits to their shopping trip here haha. With all that being said, I wasn't a fan of the store design. It honestly felt a bit like walking through a Target because of the color scheme. The forced zig-zag layout on the right side of the market starts you off in the produce and to the meats and so on, felt unnecessary and pushes you to march through aisles you didn't need to be in. For such a massive store, the checkout area also felt surprisingly small, and the bakery selection could have definitely be better. Overall, place has a great selection, competitive pricing, and the location is great. Besides my personal grievances on its design, it is still an easy place to stock up. For a Mega Mart grand store and coming here a few times now, I'm really loving it. Inexpensive. Purchased my walnut/almond/chestnut/adley tea 120 sticks in a box for $14.99. Yes, got that right! I didn't pay $31-$32 for it. Nice. This store has great deals if you take time to look around. It's pretty dead on weekdays around lunch hour. 1-2 cashiers. Staffs are mainly Hispanic workers throughout the store on weekdays. I ordered the tofu steak lunch meal too. Everything tasted legit. Had a Sulpang bread with it. $16 for the meal. It came with a free soda during the promotional period. I'm sold here. Great Korean Grocery store. If you like Jagalchi at Serramonte Mall, this won't disappoint. 80 sheets wet wipes around $3 each. The dining experience was overall very good. The market was just OK. Prepared food selection was good, but the store is kinda like a smaller Walmart (Korean style). Finally got to check out the Mega Mart in Palo Alto, right next to IKEA. The location is great and very easy to get to, right off the 101. The store itself is huge, and even though it has been open for about two months, it still feels like they are working through some organizational issues. One thing that really stood out to me was the soup placement. Some of the soups that are clearly labeled "keep at room temperature" were stored in the fridge section, while the ones that actually needed refrigeration were placed on the dry shelf. Please organize and place them correctly for customer safety and convenience. Aside from that, they have a ton of brands available. I love that they have a Korean beauty section near the checkout, plus a bakery and a small eatery area as well. If you're a fan of Korean food or interested in cooking Korean dishes, definitely go check it out once everything is properly organized. read more

I went last month but just noticed I haven't upload the pics. I like the Korean store at Seramonte better to be honest but this location might be closer for me. Loved that they had short rib samples when I went. Everything seemed to be well stocked. When I went to order a drink at cafe the lady stood there on typing on her cell. There was a guy making the drinks. She process to other things then walked away from the cafe. I thought that was weird since there was maybe one person waiting for their drink to be made and no one else in line. The guy noticed I was waiting there still to order then stopped what he was doing to take my order. Thanks guy making the yummy drinks. Beautiful new store in the East Palo Alto neighborhood (where IKEA and Home Depot are). We went because we were hungry for prepared food, and happened upon Pogu Picnic which turned out to be exactly what we were looking for! They sold "bento box" style plates with rice, vegetables (ban chan style), and proteins ranging from bulgogi beef to dakgalbi chicken and grilled salmon. Prices were $16 with a $3 upcharge for the more expensive proteins. The only negative was the cashiers who weren't very helpful when we asked them questions about the menu. "What does rice bread taste like?" Answer: "Rice". "What is the difference between the two chicken dishes?" "This one is sweet-spicy. This one is spicy-sweet." Um, thanks?! Worth exploring the rest of the store too! We were on our way somewhere else so didn't want to buy any perishables, but we picked up some snacks and enjoyed browsing the big Korean skincare department. read more

This place looks like a Target, is it just me? It's the red and white structures and decor and signs. Pretty big market, you start off to the right and walking in a Z or zigzag shaped maze to get to the back. Similar to Ikea where you have to walk through everything to get to something, so you have to look at it all. The aisles are spacious, plenty of room for groups or people side by side with their carts. Food prices are kinda high, typical of korean markets in my experience. Compared to Jagulchi, H-Mary, and Kukje, Mega Mart is my least favorite, with its bright fluorescent lighting and crowds. The produce section is sectioned off like a maze, so it's also hard to get in and out quickly. Store seems like a remodeled Target. I would much rather go to Kukje, H-Mart, or Jagulchi instead. Pogu picnic is their food court and was marketed as Michelin chef inspired and it was just ok. We got the Galbi (+$5) bento and it tasted like a food court meal. Located across the street from the beloved East Palo Alto's Ikea, Mega Mart opens its bright and shiny Korean grocery stores- one of the very few in this area. Parking lot is large and spacious but mind you, this is still East PA so hide and take all valuables with you. The store layout is a bit funky but its clear the previous Target layout is still reminiscent here. Right when you walk in, you'll see a row of vendors including Pogu Picnic (korean bento sets), Basquia Bakery, Basquia Cafe, and a small stall selling roasted sweet potatoes and potato tornados. Unlike target, the restrooms are located all the way in the back. The produce section is basically a large maze which finally frees up and cuts off into two sections: the freezer food and snack area. From here, you can venture off but there is only one way into the shopping experience. Pro: * Fantastic selection of kimchi - a lot of brands I have not seen sold in the states *They have bagel chips!! No need to make trips to Korea's olive young *Street snack galore here! Theres a lot of snacks I've only seen in Korea so the selection here really is top tier. Cons: * The produce layout is quite cumbersome and inconvenient for a lot of shoppers. It makes it difficult to go back and get groceries for no justified reason. * The store is a bit disorganized in how they set up their goods. For example, random things will be placed next to unrelated items. * Hot food selection is a bit underwhelming with just your basics sold at any typical Korean market. Nothing really stands out to me. * Service at the cash register was lacking. The workers are mostly young people who just chitchat with each other rather being attentive and welcoming to customers. I would expect coldness from a lot of super markets but not a higher end chain like this one. I do think 5 stars is a stretch which is what most of the google reviews are comprised of due to a free tote bag event. The reviews are so obviously skewed but I would say this location is a good start for the surrounding area. They have a few kinks they could work on but I'm sure improvements will be made in the next few months or so considering they just opened. read more

Nice store. Bigger than Sunnyvale Mega Mart. Aside from the grocery section. it also has a bakery and three hot food counters and the sushi section. There's also a cosmetics section. Found items that I have not seen at another Korean market like Matcha Chocolate tea and Hoji Caramel tea. The meat dept has cut meat selection and marinated meat. Line was pretty for the check out. There was a canvas tote bag give away, also. Price was comparable to other Asian markets for most of the items but hot food definitely costs more than their other location. I checked out the new Mega Mart, East Palo Alto after work Friday 9/26/25. They opened Wed 9/24/25 and I went because they were giving Free tote bag if you follow them on IG, girl told me they will give out bags this weekend 9/27 & 9/28. It's in a former Target so a Large store. Across from Ikea, next to Nordstrom Rack. I got nectarines I think 99c - not sure lb or each actually, I didn't look at my receipt close enough. Keitt mango $1.49ea. They aren't huge, but good size. I thought cheap enough. Bulgogi Kimbap $6 for 2 rolls cut up 10 slices. Tasted ok. Spicy fish cake Kimbap $6 - didn't try yet. There's a place to buy drink in the front and a small bakery. Cashier had trouble getting the correct mango price, was gonna charge me for a box of mangos instead of individual. And rang me up for the bulgogi Kimbap 2x, only got 1. Bathroom toilet roll thing was broken and fell on me, lucky I got it to stay up afterwards. Then tripped on Saran Wrap next to a pallet of items near the bathroom - almost fell! I hope they can survive in this location. read more

When you walk into Mega Mart, the Basquia cafe and bakery are on the left and Pogu Picnic on the right. Idk if it's just me, but it gives reminiscences of Target still, like the cash registers and the layout. It didn't bother me too much though. I really can't complain when there is a Korean market closer to me! I came here to grab lunch, so I walked around the whole market to see what food they offered. There were pork mandus, various kimbaps, sushi, and other hot food items. I went to Jagalchi recently, and realized it was the same food offerings, which made made me realize it was the same owners. I got the bulgogi kimbap and dalgona spanner for lunch there. They were both decent. The bulgogi kimbap was okay, but I feel like the bulgogi was a little dry. I think I would try a different protein in it instead next time. The dalgona spanner was good too with sweetness from toffee in there which made it yummy. The dosirak from Pogu picnic looked good, so I slightly regret not trying that instead. I'll come back again soon to try it! read more

Definitely brighter & more spacious than their Sunnyvale store (only frame of reference). I love how we zig zag through produce, grains, meats. Nice way to flip it to expose buyers to healthier options first. Pleased to see asian veggies like bitter melon. I'd like to see more organic produce and fresh fish not only for sushi or sashimi cut. The frozen fish section helped and got frozen mackerel steak to use for a Filipino mungo dish. The highlight of store are the premade dishes at deli, the bakery, tea shop & pogu picnic. When arrive most of the popular items were sold out. There were lots of plant based options at deli. Their rice bread reminds me of the Filipino puto but firmer. They have a sponge cake like mamon. The pogu picnic ran out of rice & veggies so dad got 2 proteins. For $16 box, that needs to be the norm. The salmon meal options looked more appealing at deli than at picnic. Recommend to stop by mid day to get the best selection. I hope they will offer their signature fried chicken wings. I expect after a month or two they'll settle in. Still working on inventory management and pricing. I hope to see more variety and adjustments to match local market. This is definitely a destination grocery shopping for the full time Korean diet. Produce is affordable and EBT coming soon. Will be adding Mega Mart to my Asian grocery shopping rotation, especially when craving Korean bbq to make at home or buy bitter melon, eggplant or greens. What I love most about Mega Mart is their investment in local community to provide another anchor grocery store to compliment Cardeñas as well as a source of employment. Still need to thoroughly explore their cold & frozen area in the back, beauty, tea, & snacks. Did see they had a Hello Kitty beauty section which I hope will expand and will be future Christmas gifts. Had a delicious lunch at the "Pogu Picnic" restaurant inside the store. There is also a bakery with yummy buns. I had a bento box with short ribs and the sweet potatoe noodles were so good as the side dish. The Udon noodle soup with fish cake was also tasty and good price only $8. I also tried the other bento boxes the grilled chicken and the bulgogi and thought the short ribs was the best. The grilled chicken was really spicy if you like spicy foods. The buns in the bakery had options of red bean or matcha. I also got a dragon roll sushi from inside the grocery store and thought it was a good price for $11 for a huge roll. read more

We were across the way at IKEA and wanted to check out Mega Mart. It's just a Jagalchi with a different name. They carry many Jagalchi named products. Very very spacious space, but not many patrons inside. They have some prepared foods but not quite as many as Jagalchi and some of their sushi offerings did NOT look fresh, as if they had been sitting all day. There is also a Basquia Bakery inside (just like Jagalchi) and a small section with Korean/ Asian skincare. read more

I was really excited to check out Mega Mart after it opened in Palo Alto. I had previously gone to the one further south in Sunnyvale for emergency perilla oil (thanks Culinary Class Wars), and the one in Sunnyvale was very clean and well organized. I had high hopes for the one in Palo Alto, especially for the beauty counter. I didn't go to the food court since it was completely empty - I couldn't even find workers there. The groceries all looked in good condition, but they're quite a bit more expensive compared to Nijiya Market, Mitsuwa, or 99 Ranch. I did end up getting some salmon sashimi, which was good but not great. The best part of Mega Mart was the KBeauty section. Mega Mart is owned by the same company as Jagalchi, so the skincare/beauty selection was excellent. Unfortunately, they do sell the US formulations of the Korean sunscreens that my skin doesn't like as much. They also have a no return policy for their skincare, which is difficulty since some products just don't work once you try them. You can only buy the things that you know work well for you! Lastly, the bakery is EXPENSIVE. The baked goods (esp the cakes) all look great, but I have no idea why they're so expensive. $25 for a slice of cake? No thanks, I'll go to a local bakery instead. In short, it's a convenient but expensive Korean restaurant in Palo Alto near IKEA. I much prefer H Mart or Kukje, but this place is certainly vast and on top of the latest trends. read more

Ok, I love this place! This was a former Target, but it didnt feel like I was walking into a Target and had it's own look and feel. The nigiri combo was okay as well; fish quality was acceptable, though the rice could have been better seasoned and the portions felt a bit small for the price. On the plus side, the store has a wide selection of Asian groceries, snacks, and drinks, which makes it fun to walk around and browse. There were a lot of interesting imported items that you don't usually see at regular supermarkets. I've been stalking this location for months before it finally opened. As a teacher in EPA, I am so thrilled that such a great store is nearby (with chargers, too). The store is huge, spotless, and has excellent pricing. I go often for the $6 kimbap or the tteokboki. I have also dined at the dog picnic (?) with their bento for $16. The portion was huge! So glad I don't have to drive down to Santa Clara and Sunnyvale anymore. My only wish is that they Chinese and Japanese products so that it's truly a one stop shop. read more

I think their stuff is on the more expensive side in general, so you just have to know your grocery prices and categories to shop here I don't think we'll be back, but this was a much needed store for the Palo Alto area. read more

I know I can't expect the freshest groceries at Asian supermarkets (also had questionable experiences from 99 ranch before) but one would think a newly opened grocery market's item qualities wouldn't degrade immediately after opening, but boy am I wrong. I really wanted to like this place and support this type of business in this area, but I was a little disappointed. My #1 peeve is that the checker forgot to give me a receipt, and when I went back to ask him to reprint it, he said that it was not possible. He asked for assistance from a coworker who also was not able to help. I should have insisted on speaking to a manager, but I didn't want to make a scene or waste anymore time. Like others, I'm not a fan of the one-way entry through the produce and meat section. If they are going to keep it that way, they should make the meat, frozen, and refrigerated sections last for food safety reasons.
