Another wonderful dinner on a busy Saturday night. We didn't have a reservation, but they were able (and happy) to fit us in. Our meals, chicken Milanese and prime rib, plus an appetizer of calamari with hot peppers was superb! Even as busy as they were (a full house), our server Sherry, was super friendly, and attentive. The food was absolutely excellent. We went here for my mother's birthday, after wanting to try something new. We thought we would have to travel far but actually stumbled about this place and decided to give it a try. The ambiance is lovely, it's a quantity sized restaurant with about 10 or so tables. The waitstaff was lovely, we never needed anything she hadn't already provided for us. And the food was PHENOMENAL. The portions are generous and do not slump on quality to be so. We all were trying one another's dishes and calling dibs on what we would order the NEXT time we came. The Mac & Cheese was a total hit, but everything from the salad to the table bread was delicious. They also had wonderful seasonal themed cocktails and gluten free options, which is important to my family. This place really is Middleburys best kept secret. read more

One of my favorite best kept secrets for the must have winning date night, never had a bad dish or drink there, and the best risotto around!

I had a very unsatisfactory visit last week. First, my friend and I were told we couldn't have a booth because "they were all reserved". In the hour and a half we were there, almost all of them remained empty. Next, our meal was disappointing. We both ordered the mixed grill salad, and I ordered my steak medium rare and my friend ordered the same. Her steak was rare, and mine was medium to medium well. It wasn't until I was halfway through the salad and had moved one of the pieces from my salad dish to a side plate and was poking at it that the server asked if everything was ok and whether I wanted them to cook another steak. The staff (bartender, server, and manager/owner) spent much of their time on their phones at the end of the bar, paying very little attention to the patrons. Expensive, as well. Having enjoyed MMH a couple of times a year or so ago I returned this evening, my wife being away. A real disappointment. Ambiance: Tired, virtually unchanged from what it's been for years, including the prior (much better) restaurant in this space. The bar along one wall with a solo male drinker reminiscent of a Hopper painting. Pretty un-festive despite the endless shopping mall type Christmas music. Tables covered with white butcher paper on top of reused tablecloths. I didn't dare check for dribbled sauce or other residue from prior diners seated at the same tablecloth. As is the case in diners, one has to set one's own table, unwrapping the silverware, well a knife and a spoon, from the rolled-up napkin (at least the napkin was fresh). Food: A deservedly popular tomato bisque was on the menu, actually quite delicious although the croutons were too large and too many. The main course, however, was almost inedible. Chicken marsala arrived as a monstrous pile of brown occupying almost all of the plate except for a smaller but no less monstrous pile of yellow polenta. Dark mushrooms were barely visible within the ocean of gravy. The chicken itself was spongy, as if reheated post freezing, with many nice-looking mushrooms equally tasting mostly of water as if previously re-frozen. The brown came from what was advertised as marsala sauce but seemed to me little different from the fatty gravy that I had overly enjoyed on top of my recent left-over turkey dinners. A vague marsala taste but heavy, completely unlike the beautiful Italian sauce it should be. The polenta was tasty but off-putting by its sheer quantity and uniformity. A nicely arranged half dozen asparagus spears looked appealing, even where covered with the gravy, but, alas, every single tip was burned, thus tasting only of charcoal. The rice pudding dessert was pretty good, both in texture and in its mixture of sweet whipped cream contrasted with not-too-sweet al dente rice. So good beginning and good end, with the middle at best middling. Service: Mostly attentive if impersonal, until an unacceptably long wait to pick up my check. I don't like to be addressed, however, with "how are we doing tonight" when there is no we, only me. It makes me feel like I'm in a nursing center. I also don't like to be given my check with my dessert. Here's yr hat, what's yr hurry. As I left and passed several staff people, not a single one wished me a pleasant evening or offered a thank you. They regularly chatted up their regulars (most of the diners seemed to be in that category), so they could have at least made an attempt to appear pleasant. Since I was cordial throughout I am at a loss as to why they seemed so glad to see me go. Conclusion: I don't think I'll be meeting anybody at Meet Me Here Restaurant anytime soon. Middlebury and the nearby surrounding area has plenty of better options. read more

When my wife and I were coming home from Meet Me Here one night we were trying to figure out what was different. (No TV). If you want quiet time with exceptional food this is the place. We've gone back many times and there are a few things that make it stand out. If you split a plate it comes out of the kitchen with two awesome presentations. I you want a over the top cocktail this is the place. If you want awesome their best dinner order Shrimp and Scallop Florentine. The staff is very attentive (but not overboard) and the owner creates an awesome atmosphere for the quests and the staff. read more

We were looking forward to a great neighborhood restaurant and with the experience of the new owner we were extremely excited. We went and were extremely disappointed in the menu. Hard crust on a salmon, larger pepper corns on the steak, Wing's thrown on the menu that were under cooked. A lone hamburger at the bottom of the menu mixed In with random "special order" type items. This will NOT work in Middlebury or anywhere for that matter. You're new, make the changes now. Poll your customers, family, friends and strangers. read more

Food presentation was very nice. Menu had good selection. Food taste was just ok . Long wait for food and service ( 1 HR after ordering ! ) Atmosphere is very boring. Nothing special. Table wobbled . Room was very LOUD ! Nothing to dampen the noise level. Did not help that we sat next to a table of four when one lady felt that she needed to scream across the table .... thinking that she was at a girls lacrosse game yelling on the sidelines ! My husband and I eat out often, to say we are foodies is an understatement! We love to entertain both in and out of our home. I personally love to cook and often have elaborate dinner parties. But when we go out this is one our favorite local spots! My husband always gets the espresso martini with the coconut vodka, for an appetizer we MUST get the parmesan truffle wings! For me the entree is a toss up between the parmesan encrusted salmon with roasted brussel sprouts and creamy red pepper polenta or the grilled romaine with shrimp and scallops! My husband likes the short rib risotto, the chicken milanese, the beef filet, the burger or the mixed grilled salad. This is what we love about this place, you can go to dinner and have a gourmet meal, a salad or comfort food! Oh! did I mention you can personalize your mac & cheese! Make no mistake it is elevated! They have a nice wine list which I often partake in ;) and the desserts OMG...don't get me started...tonight we had the flourless chocolate torte...it paired perfectly with the malbec I was sipping! They also have a funny bone cake it's a colossal chocolate and peanut butter layered masterpiece and weekly special cheese cakes, gelatos and sorbets! Best restaurant I have been to in some time. Small, nice decor, comfortable, friendly, enthusiastic servers, a very nice, accommodating owner, and great food served in generous portions. The pork medallions were perfectly prepared and very tasty. My wife has the seafood medley with shrimp and scallops and rated it superb. Our two companions also had excellent meals. A great addition to the area with a menu with plenty of variety. The service is very attentive, welcoming and the food is as good as it gets, you can tell the chef and the owner are passionate about the food and the ambiance.
