Our original spot was closed for lunch, so my wife remembered a place someone mentioned during a recent workshop. She checked her notes, a few options popped up, and the only one open at the time was Sans façon. One quick look online, and we were immediately intrigued. The aesthetics, the menu, the vibe--it checked all our boxes. So off we went. From the moment we stepped inside, the place just wowed us. The interior design is incredible--modern yet warm, with a touch of Irish decor. We were invited to sit wherever we wanted, and since it wasn't too busy yet, we actually went table shopping! We checked out the left, the right, and even upstairs before claiming the biggest corner table in the house--usually perfect for a work dinner, but today it was our royal suite for two. Our server, Kaëlle, was exceptional from start to finish. She made us feel right at home, catered to us with a smile, and remained attentive even as the place filled up. We started with oysters--shucked to perfection and beautifully fresh. Then came a side of shrimp to warm up the taste buds. For mains, my wife had the Steak Frites: seasoned perfectly and served at just the right temperature. I went with the AAA Aged Beef Tartar, which wasn't even on the menu yet--and wow, what a treat. The presentation was stunning, and the flavours absolutely nailed it. Let me say it again--the design of the restaurant is something special. It adds so much to the experience. But the true star? I had called in late June/beginning July to make a group reservation for September. At the time, I…read morewas told that they could take my reservation but that the general manager would get back to me for further details. I had confirmed that this would be a private room for an event, that I had space to decorate and that if I brought a projector to cast a slideshow that there would be room for it. I also offered to pay more money to be able to reserve the room for the whole night, to which I was told it should not be a problem. The general manager never called me back. I called weekly and never got a phone call returned until the week prior to the event. At that time, I was notified that it would be a set menu (which had not initially been disclosed to me when booking) and that a group had booked the room for after us, leaving us only with a 3h booking instead of the initial 6h. When I mentioned that I had requested the room for the entire night and offered to pay to accommodate the request, the general manager was not even aware that this had been requested. No effort was made to try and find a solution. The day of the reservation, I showed up and came to realize their "private room" was not private, nor was it a room (more of a section), other guests were also seated in the area. There was little to no space to decorate, and there was no room to broadcast a slideshow as discussed back in June. Only then were we notified that the space could only be booked privately if there are more than 40 guests. The general manager was not on site and the manager present was not aware of the situation. To try and rectify the situation, they offered us the space until restaurant closure, offered us the regular menu to pick from and we were told we would be getting free appetizers. This was appreciated, but when we received our bills there were no deductions for appetizers. The food was a bit pricy for what you get but it was tasty. Also the AC was broken so it was a sauna, not quite sure why the sliding doors weren't opened to let fresh air in.. On a brighter note, our 2 servers, Thomas and Marie-Hélène were exceptional. Their service was excellent and speedy. In all, despite the efforts to improve our situation I am very disappointed with the restaurant's management and the lack of recognition for their miscommunication. The guests for this party were coming from quite far (4-5h drive away) which made it an even bigger deception when things did not work out like we had planned.

Rather than showing concern or apologizing, he was hostile and spoke down to us when I mentioned that it looked like a cockroach. He took it back to the kitchen and returned saying they believed it looked more like part of a lobster or shrimp tail. Looking at the photo, I'm sorry, but that explanation was very difficult for us to accept. Only the beef dip was removed from the bill. Our total meal was over $300, and after seeing what was found in her food, none of us could finish eating. What was also disappointing was the reaction from our server afterwards, who repeatedly made faces that made an already uncomfortable situation feel even worse. I understand that things can happen in restaurants. What matters is how they are handled. A sincere apology, some concern and respectful treatment would have gone a long way. Instead, we left feeling disgusted and completely dismissed. It's too bad because we had been enjoying our evening up until that point, but based on both what was found in the food and how the situation was handled, we will not be returning.
