Located in old Chelsea in Gatineau is this beautiful pub with an amazing patio. It was a hot day, although rainy so we got a table just next to the patio but it was still covered. Old Chelsea itself is a beautiful area right next to the Nordik spa and next to Gatineau park. The old town is just breathtaking to walk around. The pub itself was lovely. We were created immediately and shown to our table. Our server was friendly and prompt. They serve your typical pub style food, so there is something for everyone. I got the Chelsea burger and my friend got the roast beef sandwich. I really enjoyed the fact you can get half salad and half fries as your side. You get a bit of both to satisfy your cravings. Love love this place. We have been twice in the month I've lived here (in Wakefield). I got the duck confit salad and It was amazing both times. I don't normally eat meat but this was done so well. My husband enjoyed a delicious rack of ribs and my daughter a fish and chips. They all raved about their food. The fries I could have passed on. And the drinks were amazing. Definitely go ahead and indulge, the bartender is awesome. We will keep coming back! We enjoyed sitting in the bar and outside. read more

This is an update to my review from 2020. Overall, another amazing experience! We visited Pub Chelsea after a day of xc skiing in Gatineau Park. Upon arrival, the place was packed (just like last time). But this time, instead of getting lucky with bar seating, we had to put our name on a list and were told it would be a 90-min wait! This was OK for us because we had actually had some snacks at the Relais Cafe inside the park, so we weren't starving, and the 90-min wait allowed us a chance to drive around the park and reconnoiter some of of the parking lots and other trail heads. The wait time was accurate, and right around the 90-min mark we were seated in the restaurant portion of the pub (versus the bar area). Our server was great - immediately joined us and brought menus and waters, and took our beverage order. Within a few minutes she was back with our beers and sodas and took our dinner order. Food came out without too much of a wait and was DELICIOUS. Here is what we ordered: --Smoked chicken salad - this was a really huge dinner plate full of a variety of lettuces and kale, with smoked chicken breast that really tasted fresh, juicy and smokey. It had these beautifully cut apples fanned out throughout, and had a light but tasty dressing. It was easily enough for multiple people to share; our friend who ordered this ate about a third and took the rest home (in a compostable container provided by the server). --Funky burger - this was a double-patty burger with camembert cheese, caramelized onions, a bbq style steak sauce and a great bun. Our friend who ordered this got it with a side of fries, which were fresh cut and crispy, but not seasoned. No problem, there was salt on the table; the entire thing was devoured. Note that fries are served with both ketchup AND mayo! --Chelsea burger - this was also a double-patty burger with cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato and raw onion, on that same bun. The burgers were cooked perfectly, and were very juicy and flavorful. The person who ordered this got it with a combo of side salad (really great small salad with different lettuces, cucumbers, tomatoes and onions and a vinaigrette-style dressing) and fries. The fries were fresh cut and crispy but needed salt. The mayo and ketchup were also great. --Lamb shank shepherd's pie - this was a large deep bowl filled with braised lamb, peas and carrots, covered in mashed potatoes, with both melted cheese and a gravy on top. It was piping hot, was a great portion size and was seasoned really nicely. Side note: While we were waiting, I asked if the pub had run out of anything that day, since it was so busy. The host let me know that they had a new chef who was excellent; a few months back, they were running out of things and the kitchen was not being run well. But with the new chef, there were new menu items, higher quality ingredients, and a focus on really living up to the 'gastro pub' reputation. We definitely felt like we benefitted from that as they had everything we wanted and it was all delicious and great quality. In my opinion, when you are skiing over at Gatineau, or visiting Old Chelsea, stopping by the Pub for a bite is a must-do! read more

We enjoyed our meal on the patio yesterday. The burgers were unique, delicious and generous. Everything was served hot. Good fries and a delicious salad. Getting refunded on the parking was a definite plus. Our server was pleasant, efficient and attentive. Loved the setting but not the seating...figure that out. The exterior chairs are attractive but far too short for comfortable sitting since there was minimal room to stretch out your legs. I felt like I was seated in a child's seat in elementary school. By the time to leave we were all cramped up. Another bugaboo I have with many restaurants in our area is that the rest rooms are downstairs and a real challenge for some seniors. I'll give it 4 stars for the great atmosphere, the decent food and the good local brews. Since the owner opened his own brewery, the Chelsea Pub offers those brews on tap and it has driven the price of beer down. The Pub used to offer select Quebec bottled beer, all very good, but at a good price, accordingly. The food quality has been more consistent over the last couple of years. It was really good many years ago when they offered more traditional hearty, after ski fare (tartiflette, pulled pork sandwiches, onion soup). The menu is more pub like now. The duck grilled cheese is amazing. The nachos are above average. The salads are huge and pretty good. The fries have consistently need good. The place is always busy! Get there early for a seat. Still very pricy. Average 19 for a sandwich, 7 for the daily soup.... Nice rustic, log cabin vibe going on and they've done some updates on the place. For example they put up a brick wall to hide some of the mess they had in the back and they've added new restrooms downstairs. I can attest that the ladies' was very nice but it is a bit of a trek getting there (2 flights of stairs). Their menu is rather creative though. Butter chicken, piri piri sandwiches and a few more different staples than the usual fare. I had the spinach soup that was good but would have been so much better with a bit of milk or cream in it. It was advertised as cream of spinach but ours didn't have a drop in it. Also ordered the piri piri chicken sandwich that was very good. Their fries are fantastic, unfortunately, ours arrived cold. Absolutely love this spot! It never disappoints! I generally order the Chelsea burger and they also offer the ability to split your side between fries and salad and they offer generous portions of each. The salad dressing is delicious and the food uses such high quality ingredients. Service was very fast and waiters/waitresses are incredibly friendly as well! They have a cute patio with a fair amount of seating and lots of parking just around the street from the pub as well. Importantly, the patio is also dog friendly and they bring out ice water for the dogs which was very kind. My bf and I were thinking about wat new place should we try thats not right in the Ottawa area and remembered about this pub that was pointed out to me by a few friends when we went snowshoeing last year. When we arrived we were greated and promptly seated. We shared an order of calamari and french onion soup to start and they were amazing and cooked to perfection, then I ordered their mac and cheese with bacon and the bf ordered the pulled pork grilled cheese. My mac and cheese turned out great but his grilled cheese was something we werent expecting. We thought it would be like on a nice piece of bread but was in a thick crusty baguette... there was more bread than filling!! Overall everything tasted delicious the inly thing that bothered us was the grilled cheese sandwhich. Located on what might be the main Chelsea strip is a little log cabin type pub. If the parking lot is full you'll have to park down the street as there is little parking at the pub itself. The pub reminds me of a log cabin with a built in fireplace and a good amount of space. The space is big and depending which side of the pub you're in it can be either cozy and tight or in an area that's brightly lit with windows all around. On this trip on a cold fall rainy day we were sat by the washrooms which is on the cozy side of the place. I was so close to the table behind us that every time the man behind me moved he bumped me. Awesome/ Looking at the menu I could see it was the typical pub fare and the menu items had a little french twist in a lot of their foods. I say ask what's in your food if you have any foods you don't eat as not everything is explicitly stated on the menu. I decided to go with the stew as it seemed like the right choice. The stew came out and it looked delicious. My friends sandwich also looked delicious and another friend ordered the stew as well. Neither of the dishes were delicious. The sandwich was ok...it wasn't bad but far from writing home about and exactly what you might expect from any run of the mill pub. The meat in my stew was really dry. I was hoping for slightly better but it wasn't. I have to note that bacon was in the stew and I love bacon. However I do know some people don't eat it for personal reasons and it's not obvious from the description that this was there. They have a great selection of beer and the ambiance is pretty cool. My wife and I have been going to the pub for years. It is in a great location and has good ambience. On our most recent visit we were very disappointed with the food and clearly indicated this to the server as soon as it arrived. We ordered fish and chips and asked for sweet potatoes as a substitute side order. We were told they were available but would cost extra (substitution fee). When the fish and chips arrived, it was a sad looking fish (overdone, small piece of fish - mine had a nasty chunk of burnt gunk, front and center on the fish - nasty)... I had a cold beer and we aren't sea-side - I can overlook this... flick that gross stuff off... both orders had about 14 fries on a $18.50 fish and chips (+ some extra fee)... This is why we complained. The server immediately replied "the sweet potato fries are very expensive, so we weigh them" - I asked - "do you weigh them to ensure they are not a proper portion?". No answer. Bill comes, and the "substitution fee" turns out to be $4.25 per order. I tell my table mates and they are all very loudly complaining as they also find this to be very unreasonable, considering we had a very small side order arrive. This elicits the server to pull the manager over. I am thinking this is where everything sorts it self out as the manager will clearly want to keep his customers happy - lol, not at all!!!! He begins to argue with us for 5 minutes rather than to try and make us happy. Apparently sweet potatoes as like gold in Gatineau and we should not have ordered them. My bad I guess. We complained 3 times about our food and would have been satisfied with ANY resolution, but none was offered... we will not be returning. read more

We asked repeatedly when our food was going to arrive and our server completely ignored us. Terrible service. I'm still so blown away. After the hour of half, a table that came in 45 minutes after us, got their food!!! When we asked the server about this, he again ignored us. After an invigorating hike in Gatineau park we had worked up a massive appetite, and the Chealsea Pub resolved that problem very well! The pub has ample seating and a charming atmosphere. We had a dog with us and the staff were very accommodating, seating us on the patio with a shaded area for the dog to lie in. They have a very long list of beers on tap, delicious lemonade, and a bunch of tempting cocktails for the thirsty customer. The food menu lists some of the most delicious grilled cheeses I've ever come across - like duck con fit! I had the wicked burger which came with a mountain of fries. All in all, I'd happily return to this pub again. It's great for a wind down after a long hike. read more

The Chelsea pub is a nice place to go in Chelsea! It is in the heart of Chelsea, which gives it a great location as its not very far from the Autoroute 5. The service is great, very kind and polite servers. Food comes relatively fast. I haven't had one bad service experience. The food is mediocre, it's not my favourite place to eat. However food isn't bad! The dessert ( I had the chocolate cake) was not the greatest as it was quite dry! But who knows maybe a bad batch? The drinks! There is several different types of draft beer! I love the selection! I have gone back for drinks many times with friends ! I also love the bottomless tea ! I like to sit in with friends and sometimes I have a tea night! Came here with my SO for drinks and nachos on their cute, spacious patio after a short hike. It was a hot, muggy afternoon and the entire place was crowded as apparently everyone in the surrounding area had the same idea. Our server was polite, but service was slow. They were unable to serve me the beer I wanted (the IPA) because their tap was broken (?) according to the server. The beer was cold and refreshing, and the nachos were fairly tasty despite being topped with little cheese and served with not nearly enough sour cream. The plate was GIGANTIC, though. read more

The Chelsea pub was enjoyable. We came here after a short hike in the Gatineau park. It was busy, but people moved steadily through. Some really neat decorative items, like the portion of the ceiling that is entirely covered in window shutters. We sat at a nice table right by the window, where we could see people enjoying the sunshine in the patio (open even with it only being 5C outside). We had the casadias and a pork salad, both of which we enjoyed. The meal took a bit long to be served, even though it was about 2pm when we arrived, so I wouldn't plan something immediately following a meal here. The wait was enjoyable though, with the positive atmosphere and neat decor. We were very tempted to try one of the many deserts offered. We wanted to try a Quebec pub after our trip to Nordik. We came across this nice little pub less than 10 minutes away from Nordik. Chelsea pub was pretty good. I had the meat lovers poutine that was absolutely amazing. It costs $14 bucks and it was a massive portion. The alcoholic beverages are kinda pricey. They cost $10 each. This pub is mostly outdoors which is kinda brutal when you go at night and the mosquito's are feasting. Overall, I would come back again and I recommend their beers. Wow, a pub just outside of Le Nordik Spa, along the Gatineau Park area. What a treat! At a first glace, you immediate assume this pub is going to offer your regular fixings, but upon looking at the menu, you'll surely think differently! I was amazed at the different things on the menu that exceeded the regular pub standards. Everything was pub-ish, but elevated using influences from other cuisines. We ordered: Duck Pot Pie w/ Arugala Salad, The Oliexer burger, and Seafood Gnocchi, and the Poutine on the specials of the day. All of which came out great. The burgers were especially our favourite, Juicy and full of flavour! The duck pot pie was especially interesting, I liked that they cooked down the duck so it was tender and tasty in the pie. The seafood gnocchi was especially memorable, it was a giant sized portion enough for 2 separate meals, and they were not shy with the seafood toppings. About 40 minutes later we got our burgers, asked for water, and the serving staff disappeared again. no water. All three burgers (veggy, beef, and wild boar) were very good, yet a bit salty. The fries looked good, but were served cold. and salty. and no water came. we asked 3 times from different servers and waited about 15 minutes before getting water. I had beer to wash down the saltiness, but my companions really wanted water! No one bothered to ask if our meals were good. When a waitress showed up to clean our table she did not wonder why half the fries were left uneaten. For these prices - I've had much better food and better service. For summary: Meh! read more
