I came here with my family to grab some dinner, we wanted to try a new place and this was a recommended. I ordered a chicken Kabob wrap, and what I expected was the standard wrap you would get at any Afghani restaurant, but what I got was completely different. Maybe I had the wrong expectations, but what I was served was extremely hard to eat and not at all good. My wrap came in an extremely thick flat bread that was hard to bite into because it had that texture that bread gets when you reheat it, kind of rubbery. The chicken kabob pieces in the wrap were fresh, they are the same ones that come with the plate so no complaints there. It also had lettuce, red onions and way too big pieces of tomato (they just fell out of the wrap, at the end I picked them out to make it easier to eat). There was also a sauce drizzled on, and oddly enough there were french fries in it. To top that off the fries were not fresh, they tasted old and reheated as well. To sum that part up, don't order the wrap! My sister's ordered kabob plates with salad and no rice. I liked that there is that option because you can't always finish the with the serving size. The kids ordered kid's sized kabob plates that came with rice (definitely good idea to have a kid's size). I tasted the rice and it was good, but not basmati, which is what I would expect. The salad could probably benefit from being chopped into smaller pieces making it easier to eat, but that's not what you come here for, is it? The best thing about it was that the chicken was extremely fresh, and it was also good, but not seasoned enough. Atmosphere: Casual with Afghan cultural influence. It's not loud so it's nice for a laid back meal. Outdated decor, but overall pleasant. Customer service: Kind and attentive staff, they were helpful in getting us what we ordered, but the service was extremely slow for the fact that the restaurant was not busy. Cleanliness: It was a clean place, and so was the restroom which is always a good sign! Overall: I probably would not come back here because I know there are other options in terms of Afghan food, but if you're in the area it's not the worst place you could go for sure. It is affordable, the staff is nice, and the place is clean.

I came here with my sister and her family (shes from Montreal) and my fiance (were from Toronto). We were told about it and after consulting yelp decided to check it out. My rating is based on mediocre service and good food (for the most part). As well as cleanliness which is HUGE for me. Upon first inspection the restaurant was relatively clean and the washroom was clean as well (usually this is a good indication of kitchen hygiene!). Although a bit outdated the decor was cute. The chairs were comfortable and it was a decent sizefor space. In terms of the food they have a decent size menu with many options. We ordered the tikka plate and chicken breast tandoori plate with an extra chicken breast kabob on the side to share. The tikka and chicken tandoori were very good (tender and tasty) but the chicken kabob had a weird yellow tint and was a tad bit greasy, overall it was alright. The rice was good but not the usual basmati afghani rice im used to (more lebanese style). My sister ordered a chicken wrap and got it in thick naan bread. It said the wrap comes with fries and the fries were INSIDE the wrap! The bread was way too thick I wouldnt recommend it. They had kid friendly sizes which was a nice touch for the kids! The lady was very nice and accomodating, but the service was a bit slow even though it wasn't busy. That meant that orders came spaced out and I didn't really like that! Would I come back if im in the area? Maybeee if I dont come across anything better :)

Trio platter: chicken, beef and Kebob on rice and salad.

Hidden gem! Simple but fresh and tasty options. My two friends and I shared the mantu (beef) dumplings, the sabzi (spinach) and the trio platter and we were completely full. The platter is three skewers of meat (chicken, beef and more beef - a kebob) served on fluffy rice and salad. Wish I knew of this place before!

I was fine with that, especially since it would allow me to try two different types of dumplings, lol. I really enjoyed them! Although my order wasn't quite half of each, as I got 3 Manto and 5 Ashak. The Manto are dumplings with ground meat inside. The Ashak are dumplings with leeks inside. Both dumplings had the same wrapper, which was thin and had a nice texture. The ground meat was well seasoned. The leeks were soft and mild in flavour. Overall I enjoyed them both, but liked the Manto better. I loved the creamy sauce they were in and the sprinkling of split peas over the Mantoo. I also got a tiny piece of lean meat thrown into the container. Although I got takeout, I did sit in the restaurant to wait for my food. The restaurant is really pretty inside. There were no other customers dining there at 8:45pm, but there was a steady stream of Uber and Skip the Dishes drivers picking up food. I will be back for more Manto and to try their other dishes. He paid full price for the mantu. He got us some Quorma which were $10.99 BOGO. He got us one beef and one chicken. They were flavourful but way too oily for my liking. The sauce had the same yellow peas in them as the Mantu. We didn't realize they didn't come with rice, so we had to make our own, lol. I usually get the kebab platters at the other location, so I'm glad to have been able to try something different. I'd likely pass on the Quorma in the future though due to the excessive amount of oil for my tastes. Maybe the Mantu will be on special in the future. If they are ever BOGO, I'd be all over that deal, haha. Not sure that I would personally pay regular full price for them, but I would definitely eat them if someone else bought them, lolz.

Salang Kabob House has been on my list of places to try for some time now, so I was thrilled when I saw that they had a BOGO (buy one get one free) special on UberEats. It was $19.99 BOGO for a Mixed Shami Platter. So this is what I got. Each platter came with a ground chicken kabob, a ground beef kabob, rice, salad and naan. It was a lot of food and a great deal. I enjoyed the chicken shami, but I found the beef shami a bit gamey. The kabobs had a good flavour to them. The rice was soft and fluffy and nicely seasoned, but a little bit oily for my tastes. The salad was iceberg lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes and red onions. Vegetables were fresh and crisp. The salad came with a spicy red sauce, which I liked, and a creamy dressing, which I didn't use. The naan was tasty and I appreciated that it didn't have pesky sesame seeds sprinkled on it like some other places. I ordered for pickup and the food was ready in about 15-20 minutes. Rounding up from 3.5 stars…read more I got the Sultani Platter, with came with one tikka and one shami kabob, rice, salad, and naan. I chose chicken tikka and beef shami. I also upgraded to qabulli rice instead of just regular, and Salang salad instead of regular. I wanted to try the Qabulli rice because it's Afghanistan's national dish. It had the addition of julienned carrots and sultana raisins, and I believe it typically has sliced almonds as well, but this one didn't. The Salang salad had the addition of feta and kalamata olives, along with the iceberg and romaine Lettuce, cucumber, tomato, red onion, and pickled pepper. The platter had some weight to it! The salad came with both ranch and Greek dressing. They were fine, though I wish there was some other house dressing. The chunks of feta were great, softer than I expected and less dense, less salty. All in all, the salad wasn't anything special, but I did appreciate the fresh component to the dish. I'm not usually a fan of chicken breast, but the chicken was very moist and flavourful. Beef shami is always a safe bet for me. This one was a little more done/drier and saltier than I would've liked, but still good and the flavour was there. Both had the grill flavour that I enjoy. The tomato chutney that came with it was nice. It was almost like a fresh salsa but not chunky, and with a little spicy kick to it. The kabuli pulao (though they spell it "qabulli" rice) was tasty. They were very generous with the raisins and I wasn't big on the sweetness. The carrots were cooked and tasted a bit sweet to me also, but not sure if it was just the raisins cooked with them. Maybe the almonds would've helped cut the sweetness. I really liked the basmati rice itself, which was flavoured. It was great to try the qabulli rice, but I think I'll get the regular rice next time. The plain naan was good, nice a fresh, crispier on the outside and doughier on the inside. If you've never had Afghan naan before, it's not the same as Indian naan. Indian naan is thinner, flakier, and larger, whereas Afghan naan is thicker, denser. I do wish I had something to dip it in or had it buttered or something, but it's great bread and I had already filled up on the rice, so I actually split it and saved the other half to use in a sandwich later. My husband got the beef shami platter, which came with two shamis, and an upgrade to garlic naan. I tried some of the naan, and while good, I found salty. Maybe they used garlic salt? I also got the ayran/doogh to drink and the firnee for dessert. Doogh is like a salted yogurt drink that I've only tried maybe once in the past, so I thought I'd try it again. It was okay, but I couldn't finish the whole bottle. The firnee was homemade and very tasty. Not at all as sweet as I expected, and I loved how creamy/milky it was, and the crushed cardamom and finely chopped pistachios on top. It was perfect. Will definitely order from here again.

At around 2 pm, I felt like a late lunch. I did a search and found Silk Road Kabob House nearby. Perfect! It's located in a large plaza with lots of parking. I backed into a spot and walked in. There were two diners when I had arrived. I had a nice woman welcome me and was my server during my entire stay. This place has combo specials. I had brought my appetite and ordered two of them: - Mantu (six) - Lamb combination (lamb kabob and koobideh kabob) with salad and basmati rice I got water and a Diet Coke to start. Both were cold and perfect to enjoy. I got starter naan (silk bread) with butter. The naan was so good. It was baked fresh and hot, allowing the butter to effortlessly melt on it. So good! I ate the whole thing, which I normally don't do. My mantu came out first. I got six of these steamed dumplings. They were filled with onions, and ground beef and lamb. They were drizzled with yogurt, with split peas sprinkled around each dumpling. OMG! They were fantastic. Each one was packed full of flavourful filling. The wrapper was the perfect thickness that kept the filling in, but wasn't too thick that made you chew incessantly. The yogurt and chick peas were paired so well with the dumplings. I highly recommend getting mantu here. My lamb combination came out next. There was so much food. I surprised myself by polishing off everything because the entire meal was delicious. The lamb kabob was yummy. The morsels of lamb were tender and seasoned nicely. The lamb koobideh was a ground lamb kabob that was nicely seasoned and equally as scrumptious as the lamb morsels. Excellent! The salad was fresh and crisp. I enjoyed it so much. The basmati rice was generous. It didn't have a whole lot of flavour, so I recommend mixing it up with the proteins and salad. I paid with a credit card. I tipped and all was well. Before I left, I used the washroom. It was clean. It was to the left of the counter at the back of this eatery. I let the nice woman know that the food was excellent. She was pleased. I wished her a pleasant day and left that I waddled out the door with a content tummy. I miss the food at this eatery. There's a Bamika Kabab sign in the window, but if you're looking for a storefront, look for House of Greek. I usually prefer to order directly from restaurants but UberEats lured me in with their specials. I got the Chicken Kabab Platter. It's usually $24.99, but UberEats was having a buy one get one free offer, so I got 2 platters for $24.99. Then I had a $10 off $20 or more discount on top of that! I could not pass on such a wicked deal! Lol. Anyway, I ordered for pickup, since it's not far from my house and drove over to get it. When I opened the door, there was a little girl playing in the room. She said hi to me and ran to get a man who I'm guessing is her dad, but I could be wrong. He greeted me and I said I was there for an UberEats pickup and showed him the code on my phone. He went over to the table and said that order was mine (it was the only order on the table). He was super nice and even called me "sweetie." I know some people don't like such terms of endearment, but I don't mind. There are much worse things that people can call me, lol. The food smelled so good! And it tasted good too. So the Chicken Kabab Platter comes with 4 pieces of lean chicken breast, lots of rice, a piece of flatbread, a salad, half a grilled tomato and a grilled jalapeno pepper. The chicken was excellent. Really moist and tender. I love that it was lean breast meat. The rice was a bit too oily for my liking, but still tasty. It was soft and fluffy and there was so much of it! Like literally we had leftovers and used the rice as side dishes for 4 more meals. The bread didn't taste all that fresh as is, but I toasted it up in the toaster oven and it was fantastic. I liked the chew to it. I loved that the salad had so many ingredients in it. It has romaine lettuce, carrots, bell peppers, sliced pickles, cucumbers, tomatoes, and pickled cabbage. I forgot to request the dressing on the side, but it was ok because the salad was not overdressed (which is my usual complaint and why I request the dressing on the side). All vegetables were fresh and crisp. Overall, a very enjoyable meal (and my husband and I got to enjoy the rice in 2 more meals, haha). Lots of free parking in the plaza parking lot.
