But when it comes to the food, we were deeply underwhelmed. We ordered the "Incredible Barbecue for Two," a huge platter of grilled pork chops, chicken breast, sausages, and beef filet. Everything, and I mean every cut and piece was overcooked, grilled to death, dry, and unseasoned. If I were the chef at Il Bacio, I'd slap my Grill Man for destroying fine meat like that! "Incredible" as in not credible? Yes! Not enjoyable in the least! My wife did enjoy her sweet and sour salad. The fried squash blossoms were all breading no flavor. If you're a fan of Italian food a visit to Tuscany will just open your eyes to amazing possibilities. While there are restaurants that abound this region it's always a pleasure of mine to find those hidden gems that only the locals know about. Case and point this humble establishment Farid Kebab in Prato. My friend Francesco mentioned how good this place was so we had to give it a try. Now I've had my fare shares of halal food here in the states and other places but this would be my first in Italy. This hole-in-the-wall, which in this case is truly in the literal sense since the store is the size of a closet, serves up some delicious Mediterranean food. The meat sizzles from the gyro machine and for a couple of euros you can have a choice of a combo platter or an all meat platter that has a generous portion of food. And by generous I truly mean a crap load! No complaints here. We ordered the combo platter and the meat platter. For less than 15 euros for both dishes the deal was a bargain. The meat platter consisted of a sizable helping of meat shaved from the turning machine of meaty-ness, with mayonnaise, ketchup, tzatziki sauce, and hot sauce in between the two layers. You read that right people they pile on the meat, add the amazing combo of sauces, and then add another layer of meat!!! They do the same thing with the combo platter but also add fresh vegetables, French fries, onions, etc. and then top with more meat then drizzled with the heavenly sauces. I keep drooling every time I think back on that fateful night. I think I need to contact those guys running the place and see if I can borrow their recipe. I bet you this place would make bank here in the states. So as I said in the beginning you can never have a bad meal in Italy. And based on this humble place ain't no one changing my viewpoint anytime soon.

The woman who owned the villa we stayed at made a reservation for our large party (about 15 people) at La Chiave dei Saproi. It's a small restaurant in the small town of Badia Agnano. Upon arrival, we were immediately seated on the back terrace with a view of the iconic Tuscan countryside. Our waitress was fantastic. She was charming, witty, humorous, and had so much fun talking with us out-of-country tourists! She made excellent recommendations, worked fast, and handled our large (and somewhat buzzed) party like a true professional. Our group kicked off the evening by sharing several bottles the house Chianti wine and Prosecco. We shared a wide variety of antipasti - pears with Gorgonzola, mixtures of bruschetta, liver pate, and a meat/cheese plate. As I have mentioned in other reviews, I am a sucker for good bruchetta. It may be my favorite start dish across all genres of restaurants. I I can safely say that the bruschetta at La Chiave dei Sapro is one of the best I have ever had, if not THE very best. After the antipasti, we shared our main courses. These included gnochetti with Gorgonzola, veal with arugula and Parmesan, pasta with mushrooms, and wild boar. I never had wild boar before. In fact, I never even considered that wild boar as something that a restaurant would serve. Fortunately, La Chiave dei Sapori offered me this unique opportunity, and I was not disappointed! I am happy I discovered the name of this restaurant so I could review it properly. This is one of the best dining experiences I've ever had, and maybe ever will have - the view, service, drinks, appetizers, main course, dessert and overall experience was a perfect 5/5.
