This is an excellent place for lunch. The menu is relatively small but the kebap was delicious. Everything is made right in front of you and very fresh. The large is very filling! Not too expensive either. We were a bit worried that the small shop would be crowded but thankfully we hit it at just the right time. The gentleman working did get a rush but was working quickly and able to handle things very well. The only concern we had was the restroom was dirty (however it was free for customers). No joke, the doner kebabs served here was one of the best and cheapest meals we had in Florence. Located in a bar district popular with foreign students, this spot is the perfect drunk food. Moist, grilled chicken is shaved off and put by the handful onto a massive flour tortilla the size of a medium pizza. Crowned with lettuce, onions, tomatoes and delicious yogurt-based secret sauces, the whole thing gets folded up and plopped into a plastic baggy to catch the drippings. It's a squishy, salty, decadent and addicting combination. I've been having a thing for kebabs lately just because it's a different kind of fast food you'll get in Italy. I've always passed by this place and grabbed kebabs at another joint, but decided to finally try Istanbul last night for a very late dinner. I do like how they're open really late, since at times when I'm out at the bars around this area they always have their door open and people inside eating their food. Great for late night munchies! Got their standard grande beef kebab for 5 euros. They also offer a small size for 4 euros, plus a chicken option which is nice. I usually get everything in it, which are onions, tomatoes, lettuce, yogurt, spicy sauce, and some coleslaw looking things. Really good deal and can even last me about 2 meals. came here twice late night and this place specialize in their doner kebabs. They are made on the spot and are delicious. They warm the wrap just right and then put the perfect mix of ingredients. I asked for extra sauce bc it gave the kebab a great spice to it. It is not messy to eat either because it is wrapped very well. No joke, the BEST in town, hands down. I love how they are open all random hours of the night, too. Perfect for after the club or bar. I used to go to school around the corner from here and this was one of our regular lunch spots. So fresh, filling and cheap! And the nicest guys. They understand all the English you'll need to place an order, too, if you're a tourist, too. All of their ingredients are fresh. It is super flavorful and filling, it became one of my other non-Italian favorites in Italy. I especially like it because they stay open late! They are conveniently located directly across the street from The Red Garter and serve as a perfect snack after a night out. Very close to the river which is 3 mins walk. Add to this a great kebab. My wife had beef kebab and myself falafel. The meat is done nicely and flagella was nice. After eating touristy Italien food we were fed up with the Bolognese and co. the restaurants were selling us. We found this place and I remembered from my time in Germany that Doner is one of the best Turkish foods in Germany and wanted to try this place. The place is run by Turks and that is how I knew it would be good. We were not disappointed. Best Doner and roll I have had outside Germany. Doner originates in Germany and was invented by Turk workers who were recruited by the German government to rebuild their country after WWII. Istanbul Doner Kebap is a must on your trip to Firenze. We arrived to Florence, dumped our bags at the hotel, and set out to find some doner kebab. We were starving and didn't want to sit down to a meal. Istanbul Doner Kebap exceeded expectations. The guy making the kebab actually seemed to love his job as he enthusiastically carved the chicken, smiling the entire time he filled up the plate. The amount of spices and sauces had been carefully thought out in advance and I was completely satisfied at the end of the meal (and not in that I-ate-too-much-heavy-food kind of way as I've felt after some kebab meals). It was also made quickly with incredibly reasonable prices. My husband and I both ate and had a drink for a very small price. We will definitely be going back tomorrow for lunch. read more

This place is clean and no fuss. There was choice between chicken and beef on the night I went. You also get to choose the toppings. But i went for everything. Really fresh and tasty kebabs. The best kebaps in Florence! Great meal for an awesome price! This is a food the locals introduced me to when i was studying there in '07. Believe it or not, they don't eat pasta and pizza all day, every day. This Turkish deliciousness was a welcome respite from the heavier, pricier meals and yet you never felt like you were missing out on an opportunity for a delicious European dining experience when ordering one because they are so freaking good! My doner kebab from here was delicious and completely satisfying. I can't speak to anything else on the menu (they also have falafel and fries); but I can say that I've gotten a doner kebab from one other spot in Florence, called Mesopotamia, and it was just okay.
