Lovely view, limited menu, pleasant service but high prices for all. Came to enjoy the sunset which was truly stunning from this second floor restaurant. Entrance is through a generic beige lobby and up a sharply inclined set of stairs. Not sure if elevator is available. Decor was unremarkable. Tables were set on glass tops with cutlery presented in a blue rolled cloth napkin for a touch of class but not reflecting the local handiwork of Mexico. As my arrival was earlier than most other sunset seekers, it was totally quiet in the restaurant. A server quickly came over to attend to me and brought me to the patio where he said I could sit wherever I wanted, which made sense since all tables were available. There are tables for two or four closest to the railing and plenty of other tables into rows behind that to ensure that the balcony view can be enjoyed by many. On the very slow weeknight, I was there a total of four tables they came occupied outside in the hour I was present, which wrapped up around sunset. The service was attentive without being overly intrusive. At one point the owner came by to check on me very politely, introducing himself And inquiring if I needed anything else. I decided it was time for a splurge, so had the lobster quesadilla. It was surprisingly delicious as I expected nothing very much, but was pleased to have it full of chunks of lobster as well as finely diced mild peppers. It came with two different sauces, one in a creamy base, and one the more traditional green tomatillo and pepper sauce. Neither was very spicy. The total for my soda water, and quesadilla was MX535 so about $30. This is a lot of money to pay in this sleepy beach town, so consider half the value to be in the view. This would be a romantic and lovely spot to come on a date for a drink and appetizers. Keep in mind, the prices are not what one pays for most food in the area, so this is more a splurge. Entrees appeared costly, as well, from the menu. As the menu is very brief, it would be fun to see some creative additions that work with local seafood. The menu was not anything special. It was nice to receive an amuse bouche with my soda, of a slice of toast with pico de gallo, but again, nothing extraordinary. TL/dr: great view, high prices make this a treat rather than a staple. read more

We had just arrived and were tired from the trip and seeking a place to eat and cool off from the heat. This was a perfect first stop! Great views and lots of AC pumping. We shared guacamole and chips, the calamari, clam and onion ring appetizer sampler, and some fish tacos. All very good! We enjoyed a pleasant evening and dinner here, starting with welcoming service and margaritas. The views are wonderful, but the food and service are equal partners. If we were locals, I have no doubt we'd be regulars here. We took our time ordering our main courses while we savored the smoky brisket nachos. Creator of this concoction know this: you are a genius with a wonderful eye for restraint. Nothing overpowered any ingredient and the tender smoked brisket was so good that it lured me away from ordering a seafood main dish, which is a startlement. I believe my encounter with the main dish brisket may have turned me into a brisket snob because this tender, melt in your mouth delight is my new standard for brisket. Apparently the owners of this restaurant are from Houston and bring their barbecue sensibilities with them. Three cheers for that. I'll just have to come back and savor this dish as much as possible. No hardship there. My dining companion, aka husband of 25 years, had the lobster linguine and raved about it: the lobster was plentiful and flavorful; the pasta was perfectly al dente; the cream base was rich without being overwhelming. As we watched the sunset, lightning played out over the Sea of Cortez; the clouds lit up and we could trace the storm's progression to the north. It was magical. I took a short taxi ride from Loreto Bay to downtown Loreto. The restaurant has a great location right on the promenade overlooking the bay. It was the perfect location to watch the sun go down after a long day of travel from Austin, Texas. When I arrived the friendly staff gave me the perfect table outside on the patio and the second floor location allowed me a great view of the entire bay. A cold beer and a shot of tequila were thrust into my hand as I looked over the extensive menu of fresh fish, pasta, grilled meats, and BBQ. I began with ceviche and followed with prawns stuffed with crab meat and grilled vegetables and Chipotle mayonnaise served on the side for dipping. The fish was fresh (caught that day) and the entire meal was fantastic. It was the perfect meal in the perfect location for my first night in Loreto. read more

Great Texan BBQ in a small Mexican town. Hush puppies had a hint of curry and chunks of corn- best I've ever had. The Brisket was tender, melts in your mouth, with the perfect amount of BBQ sauce. The black refined beans had a hint of spice, the cactus salad and coleslaw, fries, all great accompaniment to the brisket. The key lime pie was a perfect finish. My partner has the steak arranchera and it was good, but not great. Prices will run about $25 dollars per person without drinks. We've in Loreto for almost a week now and have sampled many of the restaurants here. Mediterraneo was our worst meal so far. We gave it a shot because it was recommended by a friend. To start off, what type of restaurant is this? Is it Mediterranean? Is it Tex-Mex? Is it BBQ? Is it just a seafood place? Unclear still. The staff was attentive and the service was good. Overall, we were disappointed by the food. We left feeling greasy in a way that no other restaurant in Loreto has made us feel. We had a party of 7 people. Owners are wonderful and very gracious. I had the paella for 2 people it was excellent - best I ever tasted and it was enough for 3 people. Tried the pasta and the brochetta also excellent . My friends had the catch of the day and they loved it!! The brisket nachos were very good and the dessert of bread pudding was soooo good! This restaurant is a real find on all counts. First of all, it's right on the Malecon with a great view of the sea and the islands. It's upstairs, so that makes the view even better. The service is excellent. It's obvious that its owner, Carol Boyd, really cares about her customers. And the food is wonderful! The sea bass in avocado sauce is so good I had to order it both times we went there. My wife tried two other dishes, sea bass in chipotle cream sauce and almejas in white wine with linguine, and ruled them both excellent. The $$$ in the basic description is misleading, since Baja restaurant prices in general are very reasonable. Not to be missed. read more
