The service was fairly fast and our waitress really friendly. The lunch menu had a nice range plus some healthy items and some 'Create your own' sandwich options. The food was quite good, not the absolute best but great for a nice lunch. I got a chicken burger with lovely avocado and juicy chicken. Some of my friend got pizzas and I have to say, I can't comment on taste, but they looked really good!

After a spot of late night Christmas shopping at Carindale last Thursday, it seemed the perfect opportunity to try this popular Italian restaurant. We were happy to wait for a table seeing we hadn't made a booking but I would recommend anyone wanting to try this restaurant to make a reservation. The waitress made it clear that they drew a large crowd even on weeknights. Unfortunately on that night, the food did not live up to its reputation. Our scallop and calamari pasta was bland and had to be spiced up with lots of Tabasco and chilli flakes. The lasagne was average but I suppose I just had higher expectations given the recommendations of the place. Since we've been inundated with different cooking shows on television, the home cook is a lot more adventurous making and tasting food. On the odd occasion, I even make my own pasta and store it in airtight containers. While the Roman Empire Bar probably doesn't beat fresh home-made pasta, it is a decent night out at a fair price.

Everytime I think about going to Earth 'n' Sea, I'm transported to the '70's and - yes - some kinda…read moregroovy, hipster place in my head. I think it's the name, but it's also the laid back atmosphere and cool menu. This is to be expected, I guess, as it has it's roots in the surfie 70's of Byron, but what is great is that three decades on, the friendliness and hospitality remains. Although the pizzas have a 2011 pricetag, they are so big and jam packed with fresh ingredients and yummy combos. I really like the Puttanesca, but mine has to have anchovies and then, it's like wow, man. The only problem with Earth 'n' Sea is it's so popular, a couple of times we've tried to drop in before or after a movie, we haven't been able to get through the door.

Earth'n'sea didn't look all that appealing when I first walked in (I think my previous bad experiences with Italian made me hesitant to cross the threshold) but I had a quick change of heart when I smelled the drool-inducing aromas of fresh pizza and pasta. The menu has a decidedly retro flair. (Just look at the illustrations ...a can of coke falls under DRINKAROONIES here!) But under a recommendation I opted for the Mullumbimby Madness, which you could tell was super fresh and tasted amazing. (Mushrooms, capsicum, onion, olives, garlic, tomato AND pineapple It was all served on a perfect crinkly crackly crust.) This place does get a bit loud here, but it's nothing you wouldn't expect from a family restaurant. (Also may explain the long line of people opting for takeaways....hmmm.) I recommend bringing your friends here and having a good 'ol fashioned pizza party. Aww yeah!
