My…read morehusband decided to take the next step to lose weight and decided on a gastric sleeve and decided to go with My Bariatric Solutions. We meet Dr. Arsalla Islam with our first consultation and I didn't know much about her, but she gave us a LOT of information. To be honest, I was overwhelmed and I have no idea how he felt but he was determined to go through with it. Our insurance required a diet program for 6 months before he could go through with the procedure so he started trying a little bit and lost a couple of pounds here and there. When it finally came time to do his surgery he was ready. The staff at MBS had walked us through EVERYTHING. EVERY SINGLE STEP OF THE WAY. We knew what he was getting into. We knew what was going to happen at the post-op and after the surgery. Even after being warned and told what's going to happen most patients don't understand how it's going to feel and are reluctant to follow the guidelines given to them. DO IT. FOLLOW THESE STEPS. YOU WILL RECOVER FASTER. Dr. Islam follows up with your hospital buddy to let them know how things are going along the way. She follows up with you via an app at the hospital while surgery is happening. She lets you know how it goes after surgery and she checks in on her patients. After the surgery is done you are not abandoned to the world. You have follow up appointments. She tells you to call them if you need help. She will make sure you have ALL oF THE HELP you need. I cannot tell you how amazing the support system is if you only take advantage of it. Unfortunately, my husband isn't one of those people... but that's another story. For the buddies that stay with you, if you have an overnight stay, the hospital is horrible to stay at overnight. Try the hotel next door, supposedly there's a discount. I ended up with incredibly bad back pain trying to stay with my husband and he ended up kicking me out of the room because he saw how bad it was. Driving home at 4 am to come back around 11 am for discharge, then waiting on the discharge, that was not fun.
