There's also this Drug Store, which looks to be part of a yet-to-be realized development initiative at and around the old Train Station. Gayle was at a Salon at the Train Station getting her nails done. After all, my fabulous wife must mind the beauty details! However, with the Iowa humidity, she would probably go for shorter hair if we actually lived here. Since this takes time, I decided to walk down Main Street and look around. After walking around the Train Station and admiring the architecture (and the safety fence near the tracks), I first wandered into Hy-Vee Drugstore and for some air conditioned relief. This place is a lot larger than it looks from the outside. They have a nice selection of the usual stuff, plus gifts and wine/beer. I ended up buying a padded wine holder to later (and successfully) take back a bottle of Templeton Rye Whiskey back to Iowa. I'll probably be back the next time I'm in town for any travel-related supplies or to just kill a little time.

I was walking through the aisles after picking up my product while talking to my sister on the phone when she waved to get my attetion and reprimanded me in the middle of the store for broadcasting my conversation to the only other person in the store: her. She unpolitely enformed me that she could in fact hear every word of my conversation and when I assured her it wasn't private and didn't bother me if she heard what I was saying, she was quick to make sure I knew that it bothered her. After being thoroughly humilated I immediately put down my item and walked out, feeling as though I could not give them my services after the way she had spoken to me. Somerset is only a short drive from my parent's house and when we walked in, Mom and Jake were chatting amiably on a first name basis. While they carried on, I picked out a nice water bottle for Gayle and enjoyed the welcoming space. And the meds, plus their daily exercise and nutritional choices must be working because at 76 and 81, my parents are in better shape than I am!

The Pharmacist called and was extremely rude didn't give me any information on the patient and when I stated that the doctor was out for the day, she was extremely rude and hung up. When I called back shortly after as I was able to get the information from someone else, she was even more rude. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! She also hung up both times without ending the call.

The display case is seriously a trip back in time in medical history! The pharmacy by itself is reason enough to visit, but what puts this place over the top is the old school soda fountain that is contained within! I had a reg size and it was a lot! Mae wondered around the shop while our malts were being mixed up. The prices are very reasonable. There is a good card selection. And there are neat old pharmacy artifacts. This place is not open on Sundays and close by noon on Saturday.
