Dr. Yu is wonderful. He is quick but listens to what I have to say. Very pleased with the care I receive.

I am currently sitting outside of one of your locations in Trussville, Al. I arrived at 5:35pm and pulled to open the door only to see that the door was locked. The receptionist told me they were closed. I informed her it wasn't 6pm yet and she then said again they were closed and that the doctor told her to say so. This is ridiculous. If you are not going to hold true to your hours of operations then why post them. I will be writing a review on Yelp and other sites. Just think of someone had a true emergency and got turned away. I will no longer visit your locations. It is now 5:42pm and I just saw a patient leave the building. I am highly upset about this. read more

It was pretty quick for a Saturday visit. Staff was very nice. I saw an NP and she was great. I did not feel like a number being passed through like some other urgent care places. I would use them again if needed. It was not packed with a lot of people either. read more

When you sign in you'll sit there waiting 30-45 minutes before they even look at your name on the list. Then there's the whole process of actually being checked in, paperwork, and payment. I sat there never got called up, ended up calling another doctors office while in waiting room who said they could see me. they make you come in every 2 months just so that you would have to pay the deductible. I have gout so when I run out of pills, they will not refill it regardless if you're in pain or in a middle of the flare up. You can be in severe pain like I am now, but they will not see you until you pay the deductible even if you ask if they can bill you if you're having financial trouble. I will be calling corporate to file a complaint as well but this urgent care cares nothing about you. The one in Trussville and they don't even deserve a star. I would never go back to them again. What doctor is ok with patients going home in pain or being in pain, and don't care how severe it is unless you come in to pay. And then the gout pills that I need, they only prescribe you for a month. The receptionist don't care either. If you want my opinion, don't go here. But best believe, I'll be calling corporate office to file another complaint in the morning read more

Online registration for covid testing was fast and easy. I was contacted almost immediately by a nurse and then shortly after by the doctor regarding the next steps in the covid testing phase. I will say there was total disconnect once I arrived at the site for testing . I received calls from two different phone numbers during the process , so when I arrived I called the original phone number I had been contacted on by the staff. I called and called and called. No answer! Finally , I decided to call back a random number from a missed call ( which I usually never do) and it was the Trussville location giving me instructions to complete my covid test. Once I got into the building, the nurse was nice and informative. The covid test was fast and didn't hurt. I was in and out in no time. They called me within a few hours with my negative testing results. I will say that the questions I answered online at testing registration were asked to me again by phone. Maybe that's a formality but seemed a bit redundant. Overall , this was a good experience with no serious issues. I recommend Medhelp if you need covid testing done. read more

Dr. Yu works 6 days a week so I can always see him. He's great to listen and very thorough and caring.

Without a doubt, one of the best urgent cares. Dr. Yu and his staff are attentive, listen to concerns, work out plans to get better, etc. Dr. Yu is very attentive, quick but thorough in his diagnosing. I have diabetes and Dr. Yu always has some way to educate me more on it when I have to come in, whether for a flu test or just not feeling well. I'm thankful for this office and staff, especially after hours. read more

Dr. Yu is best in class, front desk has a high turnover rate (reason unknown). Nursing and support team friendly and helpful, but the weekend support team - forget it! My pharmacy, the same one I always use, faxed over a prescription refill on the 20th of April. They have since made repeated attempts to get a response, and having been out of my medication for three days, I took matters in hand myself. The first call was dumped into voice mail. The second call actually got me connected to a person, who I presumed to be "the weekend nurse in charge" (WNC). Her primary goal was to make me aware that no one at MedHelp could have possibly made a mistake although evidence to the contrary was overwhelming. The problem was they sent the prescription work order to a pharmacy I haven't used for two years would be good for starters. It never crossed anyone's mind that every prescription I have goes to the same pharmacy (except this one). When I suggested that improvement might be in order, I was told that I wasn't being fair (i.e. nice). I didn't call to be nice. I called to get my medication which I haven't had for three days. People like this can run off even the most loyal patients and completely destroy a trusting Doctor-Patient relationship. I think the WNC should be thankful I didn't take the next step and show up in person or that it was not on a weekday, when I could have talked to somewhat at the corporate level. She doesn't know how unfair things can get when such events that can generally be instantly defused with a simple "I'm sorry, we messed up - we try to make sure it never happens again", instead of not dealing directly with the issue and acknowledging responsibility. Called and made an appointment for a covid-19 test. After I filled the online form out, it said it would be 30-40 minutes for the nurse to call me. After almost 2 hours of waiting with my 2 year old daughter in the car. There was no call from a nurse or Dr. Yu. Then we called the receptionist office, which it took almost 6 calls for us to get in contact with anybody. And when they FINALLY answered they said they were closed at 6. When online is says they are open till 8. And then I proceeded to tell him that we were there Monday till 7:30 getting a covid test done. And he said that didn't happen. So not only did they waste my time, I have to go back home around my daughter without knowing if I have Covid-19 or not. read more

The one star is for the nice premises and friendly receptionists. My two year old went in with a 103 degree fever, two ear infections, tachycardia, and suspected pneumonia. That is the diagnosis we received and what he was treated for at the Children's Hospital an hour after we left MedHelp. 1. I was told that my boiling hot child did NOT have any fever at all and that it was in fact just 97 degrees. 2. I was told my son's breathing was perfectly normal, although one could clearly see he was having labored breathing just by watching his stomach pump up and down. 3. My son's ears looked "just great"! 4. My son's lungs sounded "just great"! The only thing I can say is that the doctor told me that my son was perfectly fine and healthy BUT that if I REEEEEEEally needed peace of mind, I should go to the Children's Hospital, which is what I should have done in the first place. After questioning the dr about his very obvious (but according the him nonexistent) fever and cough that wouldn't let up for hours, the doctor told me nothing was wrong, and walked out of the room. He did not return. I just sat there waiting until one of the nurses came in with directions to the children's hospital. She was incredibly nice. Thank you. As I walked out to rush my child to the ER (at this point, I knew something was REALLY wrong as he was getting worse by the minute), I realized the doctor referring me to the ER hadn't given me any papers or documentation of visit or anything...ugh...This was their PEDIATRICIAN, I might add. Bottom line: just don't take your child to Urgent Care. Go to Children's Alabama in Birmingham. That was my mistake. I genuinely thought my son might have a common cold or flu and we were visiting from out of town. I would be less infuriated if my son wasn't rushed through the ER thirty minutes later for tachycardia, blood pressure through the roof, and a fever sky-high. THEN diagnosed with two ear infections, pneumonia, and bronchiolitis. I'm unclear as to what these people would be useful for. There were other children there and other people who didn't seem super sick. So perhaps if you need medical help in a pinch for a non-acute health concern. But I can't recommend or endorse them. I will actually go so far as to warn parents AGAINST taking their small children here. read more

If you have a need for medical attention that requires tests, accurate diagnosis, clear direction and prescriptions that will lead to better quality of life, this is not the place. The receptionist/ nurse is not friendly which sets the tone for your visit. The doctor will see you and he is friendly but don't expect him to get back to with any labs he orders. In a week you will get a call from a nurse saying everything is fine but don't expect to get any answers to questions because they won't have any and you will never get a call back from the doctor. Getting copies of your labs borderlines on a HIPPA violation. In short, I would recommend another place where they care about the patients and are not interested in collecting as much fees as possible by ordering labs that are not even looked at. Go to a reputable GP or Internist, pass Medhelp by on the way to another doctor. read more

[[GO ANYWHERE ELSE]] [[HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE]] [[HIPAA CONCERNS]] I made an appointment for a COVID test, was on time and waited for 45 minutes in the parking lot as instructed. Out of nowhere, a vehicle drives up to the curb of a side door and was immediately tested by a staff that went straight back inside without testing any of the other patients that had been waiting in their turn. I would be surprised if the tested patient even put his vehicle in park before he got tested (surprising, because you can't even get someone inside to pick up the phone, so how was he tested IMMEDIATELY?). When I asked the staff why the patient was getting preferential (immediate) treatment, the rude staff member informed me that I could go inside or leave. Since I had waited for 45 minutes in the parking lot as they had instructed, I was now frustrated to learn that I needed to go inside for service. When I questioned the front desk, they first told me that the man who received preferential treatment had an earlier reservation that me, so that is why he was treated immediately (bad answer, the patient was then obviously late for their appointment and didn't even wait one minute). THEN they later said it was because he was handicap (does HIPAA not protect them from disclosing that information?) - WHICH REASON IS IT? Is it because he made an earlier appointment for which he was late, or is it because he was handicap? By the way - his vehicle DID NOT have a handicap registration. It honestly looked like the staff tested their family member from a side door and popped back inside. When the front desk fails to resolve the issue, Dr. Yu comes out with two guys (Bradley and Michael) to avoid escalation of the issue. I reasonably explain what had occurred to Dr. Yu, and then Dr. Yu lectured me about why I wouldn't be the first to receive the vaccine because of my age (completely irrelevant and I had made zero mention of any vaccine). I told them that I was simply in the office because their staff told me to come inside or leave, and that I need to know what to do from here (should I wait in the lobby or go back to my vehicle?). Instead of apologizing and taking ownership of their disorganized operations, Dr. Yu tells me that I should go get tested somewhere else. WOW. After 45 minutes of waiting after the appointment time that THEY gave us, and then getting treated like crap by their staff, they deny service, cancel my appointment and tell me to get tested somewhere else. HORRIBLE. As an aside, when confirming my appointment, the lady at the front desk started calling out patient names to me (reading from her computer) to ask my name even though I already told her my name. So she was telling me the first and last patient names of MedHelp, another HIPAA concern. These people are greedy for COVID tests so they can bill the insurance. They will tell you when to be there but they don't care how long you wait in your car. I will never be back and would drive WAY out of my way to avoid this place. I know there are great reviews about Dr. Yu and I'm sure he's not all bad. However, these experiences happen when operations aren't made a priority. Shameful. read more

I got to Med Help at 4:45 for a COVID test, the lady at the front desk told me to call the number on the door and leave a message and if they didn't call back within 20 minutes to send a text. They didn't call back by 5:10 so i sent a text, and waited until 6:00 and watched all the doctors walk out the door without anyone telling me what's going on or when they would get to me. read more

The weekend front desk staff are polite, helpful and eager to make sure patients are taken care of in a timely manner. Pleasant experience.

I've used this clinic several times and never had any problems. Everyone is so nice. Every time we've gone they've had us out in an hour or less. Dr. Yu is great with children. Definitely recommend over AFC any day. If it's after hours for your regular physician and you aren't really sick enough to go to the ER then give MedHelp a try. read more

Went in on Sunday 7/29 at 1:00pm. There were 4 people in front of me. At 1:30pm not one had been called. I have been here before and it was good. Not anymore. Slack staff, starts and stays behind and whoever manages the office is oblivious. Will not return and hope others who have had this same experience will not as well. I'll go elsewhere and not waste my time. It is a sign of bad management when the staff and physicians think their time is more important than their patients/customers...Mike H. read more

I'm not so sure about the reviewer below but Medhelp is, from check in to check out, the best urgent care facility in the Trussville area. They get patients in and out without a long wait while still providing thorough care and not making the patient feel rushed. Dr. Yu is the physician I have always seen there and he really knows what he is doing. A lot of people I know have actually changed to make Dr Yu their primary GP, as Medhelp also takes appointments in addition to being a walk in clinic. They have convenient hours (8am - 8pm M-F and 8-6 Sat, 1-6 Sun -- I think) and are open 7 days a week. What more could you ask for? Again, with respect to the other review, everyone I have ever encountered at Medhelp has been more than helpful and I have never had any unnecessary tests or procedures run on me. I have and will continue to recommend them to family, friends and strangers alike. read more
