I've worn glasses since I was a young child. As I became more and more near-sighted and later needed progressive lens, finding eye frames proved to be challenging. Yet at Medford Optical, they bent over backwards to find a set of frames that not only were stellarly attractive but fit me perfectly. This took time on their part, but they were not deterred in finding something that would be a good fit given that I wear glasses 24/7. Called on May 12th and made an appointment for the 14th. Specifically for an eye exam for glasses and contacts. I show up and the very gruff lady says there are no Doctors on Friday and I have no appointment. This she kept repeating ad nauseum. She says I must have made it across the street. I verify I have their phone number and I even look down and see my name with Rx next to it on the appointment sheet. Then she proceeds to question my name in a demeaning way, harshly asking if I have insurance, and trying to get me to make a new appointment. Zero apologies for taking an appointment that couldn't be fulfilled and wasting my time. Avoid this place if you'd like to be treated as decent customer. read more

The doctor and staff is very friendly. I paid $20 copay with my insurance for the eye exam. However, the doctor refused to take measurements of my pupil distance. Isn't it part of eye exam?!!!! If you want to know your pupil distance, buy a pair of glasses or pay another $35 to have it measured!!!!!! Ridiculous!!!!! Won't comeback for eye exam again!! read more

I'm really terrible at getting annual eye exams. I remember needing glasses in the second grade because I never could read the board from the back row. However, it wasn't until 9th grade that I actually got glasses for the first time! Fast forward 15 years later, and I finally updated my glasses last year after visiting Medford Optical in Medford Square. Just the lenses, mind you, because I'm cheap and the frames aren't broken yet, but this would have been a fine place to look for those too if I weren't on such a tight budget. From what I can tell, Medford locals work here, so it gives the place a very local-business kind of feel. They are friendly enough, and it was easy to get an eye exam scheduled quickly after calling. If you have eye insurance, the exam only cost $10-$20, and they'll give you a prescription that you can fill right in the store, or at another more cost-friendly place. I really liked my optometrist! She was an interesting older woman, who I worried about at first due to her style of dress. She looked like she was a 60 year old dressed like a 20 year old! Studded stilettos, orange fitted pants suit, cleavage showing, and big gold jewelry covered her. Despite the distraction, she really did do a thorough job, and really took her time to make sure that I had the best exam possible.. If I need another eye exam in the future, I'll definitely come back. read more

I have purchased 4 pair of complete glasses here- everything from sunglasses to transition lens and frames. I love the fact that if I find something I like but am not quite settled on a frame Roseanne and team will take out a catalogue and help me find an option which I may have to wait a few days for but is always terrific. Glasses are not cheap, even with insurance, so knowing I can get what I want, have it adjusted as needed, with a pleasant encounter every time is above and beyond. I went here last week needing an eye exam and lenses, as I already had frames. The amazing staff where able to get me an appointment with a dr down the street THAT DAY!!! The Dr. was amazing! I immediately headed back there to fill my prescription! While the lenses I chose were 700$ . I did opt for some state of the art Progressive Lenses. . Which I was NOT pressured into getting . Fabulous experience! Friendly, knowledgeable, efficient staff. Dana solved my problem after 3 exams from two other places, 4 pairs of glasses made from the same businesses. I don't even have a complicated prescription but he took the time with me until I was happy and I wasn't rushed even though they were very busy. Lking to get my first pair of glasses at 61, found Medrord Optical on Facebook, Stopped in while visiting my credit union across the street, met with Dani she was very friendly and knowledgeable with my insurance and my prescription that I would need. She explained a couple of options that I could go with. She showed me a bunch of frames that I could pick from for glasses, a great assortment of frames to vjose from. Dani checked my insurance coverage, did a couple of tests and ordered my prescription, fast proffesional service. Note parking is at a premium on the street one disatvantage spots do open up frequently though. Will take about two weeks to get my new glasses going to be a big change wearing glasses all the time now. While this place is listed as being great for kids, I'm a twenty-something with no kids, and I got fabulous frames here that I love. I hadn't gotten new glasses in 6 years, and was thinking it would take forever to pick something out. This is a great friendly place that was recommended by our Nurse Practitioner as a good place for special needs children. Sadly, the insurance took 7 months to approve but, once approved, our glasses were done and sent out to us within 2 weeks. I have been going to Medford Optical for many years and I absolutely love them. The personalized service and attention to all my needs is incredible. I love Dr. San Clemente, she makes the exam more like a visit with a friend than an eye exam. They recently added Ziggy by Cendrine O frames and I had to have the Fuchia Pink with black frames. Purchased a $125 Groupon for this store, so I visited with intentions to purchase. They have almost no selection for men, although their children's selections looked extensive. They quoted me $741 for a pair of glasses, nothing fancy. When I told the woman I had a Groupon for $125, she told me it was worthless. They offer a 25% discount to all their customers, but you cannot combine the Groupon with the discount, which would be worth less than the 25% discount. Bringing, what I concidered a second rate pair of glasses to a whopping $556. Why sell the Groupon's if you are not going to honor them. Look out for the SCAM! read more

Very professional staff. THE place to go for kids' eyeglasses. I have been purchasing my daughter's eyeglasses here for almost 5 years. They are a little bit pricier than chain stores, but they stand behind their work. That is huge with a child in glasses and all the things that can happen. They are prompt with their orders, service, and phone calls. They offer a discount if you are paying out of pocket.
