Nice place to read, meet or study! Although some of the front desk staff are obnoxiously loud for…read moreno reason and or really nosy. One time I was trying to read something and had to leave because the voices were too distracting.

What's funny about this library is that they are about ready to renovate it, and I still love it as…read moreit is. Usually a place that is going to be renovated is run down and ready for some love, but because the town and the citizens have taken such good care of this place and use it so regularly, their renovation is for an expansion. I'm excited to see what happens when it changes. As it stands, I think this place is great! Working right down the road, I frequent this library at least once a week. They have an extensive selection of DVDs and videos with many new releases as well as foreign films. They also have a pretty good selection of audio books. I love the small upper balcony that has a few tables tucked away - a nice place to do some work and people watch at the same time. The librarians who work here are always friendly and helpful. There are only a few computers for use (4 I think), but it's never that long of a wait - remember that Walpole is a town, not a city. The library loses one star for 2 reasons: 1. Their audio book loan policy. While books can be taken out for 3 weeks, audio books can only be checked out for 2 weeks. While, they can be renewed, I don't understand why the amount of time is shorter. I pretty much have to renew every book I take out. 2. Parking. Every time I have to park in the back parking lot (because the streets are filled) I feel like I'm about to get into an accident. The entry into it is too small, so if one person is trying to get out, the other person can't get in.

Imagine a cute (yes, cute) little library in a tiny town. Add in really nice people who work…read morethere, and even a picnic table outside for warmer weather. Now, open your eyes and you are at the Dover Library, my new go-to spot if I am driving through town, need to pick something up, print (.10 per page), etc. Bonus: fast computers as well!!!

I haven't spent much time upstairs, but the lower level children's library has so many amazing…read moreservices and resources that I'm there almost three times a week with my 17-month-old. The facilities aren't new or very impressive, but it's everything else that draws me here. Super Awesome Fun Time is an open story/music time for kids of all ages. It can get rowdy at times, but it's a full hour of programming: half an hour of staff-led songs and stories, and then another half hour of a rotating variety of activities (water table, painting, peg boards). I see kids all the way from babies to six-year-olds having a blast. There are 8 iPads for kids to play with! And there's always an activity to do at the table as you enter, a teepee, a basketball hoop, the list goes on. They also rent out toys! Isn't that genius? Kids get bored of toys so quickly, so borrowing them from the library and then returning them when the kids are done with them is the perfect solution. Third, there is NO LATE FEE. How? Why? Who knows. I think people are so bewildered by it that they have a "guilt jar" for some. :)

When a town doesn't have much in it, smaller things make a bigger difference. Norfolk is really in…read morethe middle of nowhere, and doesn't have much in it. The center is based on a gas station, Dunkin Donuts, Walgreens, a few other small shops, and this library. Now, I was looking forward to a great experience at the Norfolk Public Library. I needed to print a few things out, and thought I'd stop by before going to the amazing book sale this library has annually, as I go to it every year, and it is always amazing. I may a day of going to this sale, as the book sale this library puts on every year is always amazing. Speaking of the book sale, I would rate that at 5 stars. It is, in my opinion, triple-tied with Natick & Auburndale as the best book sale in Massachusetts. It occurs at the DPW Garage on Medway Branch Road, in April every year, presented by the Friends of this Library. Anyway, upon entering the library, it was actually quite nice. It seemed somewhat new, super clean, and a large variety of books, DVD's, and a huge children's section for such a small town. As I said before, I stopped at the library to print some things out (as I don't have (but should) a printer at home anymore), and was greeted by John at the reference desk. John was friendly and kind, but simply, disappeared right as I got to one of the computers. Since I don't live in Norfolk, and patronize one of my favorite libraries in Dedham, I have a MLN library card, not in the Norfolk network. I tried to find John, and then just went to the front desk. It was crowded, with one woman working and about 3 people in line waiting to check out books and some DVD's. Long story short (well, it might be too late for that, but whatever), it took me about 10 minutes to tell her I needed a guest pass, and then after waiting an additional 10 minutes for her to come over to the reference area, I just left. I have NEVER been treated so poorly at a public library. Normally, I have only good experiences at libraries (except for the Westwood Public Library, and now here), but this left me disgusted with the staff at the Norfolk Public Library. If you need a library in the Norfolk area, go to either the Walpole Public Library, or the Franklin Public Library, dependent upon which side of town you are on. This is NOT what a library should be like. 2 stars.

It also doesn't have a ton of businesses but it DOES have the businesses that I want. Such as Roche Brothers, Verizon Wireless, CVS, Dunkin Donuts... etc. I do not find the taxes to be that high for such a small little town. It is located about five minutes from a commuter rail station and most of the roads in town are not very crowded (except for 109). Recently I have seen a lot of good updates to the town, including a new library, a new police station, and a Needham Bank Location in what was a blighted gas station. If there is crime here I haven't seen it. I actually think Mills is poised to really become one of those nice towns as it is right next to Medfield, Dover, Needham, Sherborn, and Holliston. One thing I do wish the town could work on is that most condos and apartments in the town are about 35 years old. We need new and nicer apartments / housing. Not a ton but one nice complex. I have no idea what that hideous factory is across the street from Roche Brothers but I think that land is some prime space for housing. There is a road around back that would work prefect to keep 109 traffic down.
