I absolutely love this library. It offers so much! The librarians go above and beyond. When I was…read morefinishing a Master's Degree program and was having difficulty with a website where I was supposed to submit my work, one of the librarians worked with me to help me. They have wonderful programs for teens as well. During the pandemic, teens were lost without activities to do and to get them together but the library continued to have zoom programs such as Dungeons and Dragons and craft activities too. I find the librarians to be so flexible in meeting the concerns of the community. Also, I read in a previous post about traffic but they had construction done so now patrons and staff can enter and exit from a side street: Pleasant View and there is a light if you are entering from Putnam to Pleasant. The library is bright, clean and quiet. They have a community garden and many community events. Their calendar is full with events for all ages. The staff work hard to get to know all of the patrons and our families. My husband uses it for the books. I use it mainly for the computers and printing lately though their book clubs are fantastic too! My teen uses it for the teen space, summer reading and has volunteered there as well, reading to younger children. Greenville Public Library is one of the best libraries in our state!

This library is amazing. As are all the RI public libraries!…read more I have a library card and then I log on to their website, look for the books I want, request them (and you can have them transferred from other RI libraries too!) and then I get an email when I can go in to pick them up. They keep their hold shelf to the left when you walk in. Books are held in alphabetical order by holders last names. The coolest thing? You get to self check out at this library!! I can run in and out within 3 minutes with this process. Saves me money and space that I don't have to give and helps the library stay active. If you sign up for their newsletter, they will email you their monthly events! I've taken a few awesome classes! One we built a terrarium for air plants! There's financial classes, after school classes for kids... everything. And as I was typing this review, Yelp told me i'm the 'Wizard of Words' so I think that means you have to listen to me. :D

Wanting to hike the North South Trail in Rhode Island, I needed to do a bit of research to map out…read moremy route. There are precious few resources on this through-hike of the state. In fact, there is but one book on the subject and it has long been out of print. Few local libraries even have the book anymore so I was thrilled to find out this location owned a copy. It being the times of COVID, I was pleased to learn this location was not only open... but allowing patrons inside. This is an important point because the reference I was after can only be used in-library. With my mask in tow, I entered the building and was immediately greeted by staff at the front desk. Given this was a special trip to the library for this one book, I was relieved to obtain assistance in locating it. I'm so happy that I did because the staff and I ultimately discovered that the book was part of a special collection under lock and key! Despite there being no tables and chairs set up within the library to peruse my text (due to the pandemic), staff were very accommodating and let me use one of their chairs to conduct my research. As I was there for some time to get all the information I needed, I ended up moving about the space and found several areas to tuck myself away. Lots of natural light... very clean! Everyone was friendly, checked in periodically, but allowed me space and comfort throughout the visit. I'm pleased with the success of my visit and even more impressed with the staff and the modern feel of this library!

Small cramped but…read moretemporary The North Scituate Public Library is presently undergoing some fairly radical upgrades and renovations. A lot more space and more modern facilities will be added to an already pretty cool building. Unfortunately the noisy and intrusive construction necessitates the closing of the building. The last I've heard, the original library isn't scheduled to reopen until the early fall of 2011. Since the town didn't want to be without a library while all the banging, thumping and sawing was going on, they decided to move to a temporary location on Rt 6 in the IGA plaza. A rather dingy, messy and unorganized place that is fortunately only temporary. Lots of the books had to be placed into storage since the new space just wasn't large enough to hold them all and things are obviously scattered about in a ephemeral manner. They staff are still very friendly and helpful and they do have useful research and reference materials as well as recreational reading materials and events but the library definitely lacks the pleasant aesthetics of most libraries. It's basically just a space to hold stuff. Once the original library completes it's surgery and the books and other material go back to there rightful home things should be better than ever. The construction on the building is going well and it looks great. Things right now are a bit chaotic for the library and the poor books look lost and depressed but they know it's only temporary. Things will be better than every in a few months. I suspect it will be worth the wait and the books will be very happy in their cool new home.
