Dr. Ali prescribed azithromycin and a steroid instead of the medication I am used to seeing previously for ear infections. As a parent, I simply wanted to better understand the reasoning behind the treatment choice and why a different approach was taken. The following morning, I politely called the office and spoke with the front desk to ask if I could speak with Dr. Ali regarding the prescriptions. I was told they would leave him a message since he was busy. Instead of calling me back, Dr. Ali called my husband in a fit of anger, questioning why I would question his decision and if I had questions, why I didn't take her in instead. To my husband's surprise, he then informed him that he was placing a note in the system to refuse future care to my five-year-old daughter and abruptly hung up. I went back a few days later for treatment for myself, as well as referred a friend, thinking the earlier incident was just a misunderstanding. After I checked in and paid my copay, his staff told me I was being refused care. It turns out Dr. Ali didn't just ban my 5 year old, he blacklisted my entire family because I asked a simple question. He wouldn't even come out to explain. It's incredibly frustrating that a doctor would retaliate against a whole family just because a parent asked about a prescription. As a parent, it is my responsibility to advocate for my child and understand what medications are being prescribed and why. Asking a question is not being complicated, it's called being an involved parent. In my opinion, what made this experience especially disturbing was not the medications themselves, but the level of unprofessionalism shown by a doctor afterward. No patient or parent should be made to feel intimidated, dismissed, or punished simply for asking a reasonable question about medical treatment
