She gave me a complete physical, including a gynecological exam, and made me feel quite comfortable. She discussed my birth control options with me candidly, and opted for a discussion about what the risks and benefits were rather than lecturing me or telling me what to do. I appreciated that. Making appointments at the East Ann Arbor Health Center is usually pretty easy, though some doctors have fuller schedules than others. It isn't usually to difficult to schedule a visit with Dr. Hsu. Full disclosure: a family member works at this clinic so I'm a little prejudiced in favor of this health center.

I started going to this health center based on a recommendation from someone I know who works there. I started off with one doctor, and ended up seeing Cooke on a subsequent visit. So far, though other doctors were good, Cooke is my favorite. I was diagnosed with an endocrine and autoimmune disorder a couple of years ago, and while I'm grateful to the doctor that caught it in my lab tests, she didn't have much of a bedside manner, and didn't explain things I needed to know about my condition very well. Dr. Cooke took time to answer my questions and seems to be aware of the latest protocols on treating my particular endocrine disorder. It's also important to me that a doctor treat fat patients with dignity, and I've been consistently happy with him on this issue. In fact, I've recommended him to the "Fat Friendly Health Professionals" database that's kept on the web (google it if you're curious). While I will see another doctor in the practice if he's all booked up, I would prefer to be seen by Cooke whenever possible.

I think I'd like it a lot even if I didn't have an acquaintance there, though. The building is really comfortable, with lots of comfy chairs in the waiting area. The front desk staff is nice, and so are the medical assistants. The wait to be seen really depends on a) what doctor you're seeing and b) what time you visit. Some doctors are very prompt. Jenny Hsu and David Cooke have reasonable wait times. I've waited more than an hour past my appointment time to see Dr. Chen, though. If you schedule your appointments for early morning or just after lunch, though, you'll have a better chance of being seen relatively on time by most of the doctors.

I've never gotten the impression that he is impatient or ready to push me through to get to another patient and for a doctor he actually has really good handwriting! :-) I have been under his care for years and even though he isn't in my "network" I feel it's worth the extra cost to continue to see him. If you need an endocrinologist, there is no one else I'd rate any higher than Doctor Sanfield.

(She'd definitely get a five.). I've had enough experience with the other IHA docs and the Urgent Care which is in the same office, so I decided just to review the practice. I think you would be happy with any of the clinicians I've seen when Heather is not available. Clean office, fairly efficient clerical staff , and great coordination of care with my specialists, even those out of network. This last item lifts IHA way above my former PCP (from the 80s to 2015). The clinicians I've seen are respectful, don't try to "docsplain" me, and the advice I've gotten is consistent and usually works. Also they read your chart before they see you! Good people.

I've been going to Family Medicine here for several years now and have consistently great…read moreexperiences. For the last 3 or 4 years, Dr. Holmstrom has been my PCP and I really liked her. I guess most folks do too because the only downside is that there's usually about a 3 month wait to see her! But I've been lucky that so far I haven't had any emergency issues to need to get in all that quickly so a 3-month wait hasn't been terrible. A few times I've needed prescriptions filled last minute and the staff has always been friendly and extended my refill until I was able to get into see the Dr. Most recently I was in yesterday for my yearly physical. Admittedly, despite being completely enamored with all things having to do with the medical profession, I have a bit of doctor's office phobia when it comes to my own appointments and I get really nervous whenever I visit (nothing personal, docs! I'm just a worrywart!) but the staff here puts me at ease. Everyone is great from the check in front desk staff to the nurses (there is one in particular that I've seen several times and she's the best! I'm terrible with names so I can't recall to give shout her out, sadly!) to the medical student who did my preliminary exam. Dr. Holmstrom is also so sweet and supportive and really friendly. Admittedly I've had a pretty grief-stricken year so anxiety/depression has been a bit of a struggle for me the last few months. She really took the time to talk through some of my issues and make sure that I was taking care of myself through all of it. They really do care here! UofM also has the neat health portal online where you can make appointments, view test results, request refills, etc. Everything you may need at your fingertips 24 hours a day. Just make sure you have your medical record number handy as you'll need it, if you're like me and forget your login & password all.the.time! ALSO--this office also houses the Japanese Family Health Program. This doesn't pertain to me but I think it's great they offer the services to Japanese speaking members of the population (several other clinics in the area service other languages).
