Meckfessel Tire & Auto - Slow leak in tire quickly and successfully repaired at a reasonable price by Meckfessel Tire & Auto. - Tires Near Me - Belleville, Illinois

This shop is next to my workplace, so I thought this would be an easy way to get an oil change. Drop the car off at 8am and pick it up at 5. Easy enough I thought. I leave work at 5:30pm and hear a scraping sound, I hit the highway and it gets louder, I pull over at the first exit and discover that they didn't attach my skid plate. Thankfully I had AAA, called them and they had to send out two trucks since the first one couldn't repair it. They were going to tow my car until the serviceman was able to do a quick fix on the side of the road. By this time, I had spent over 2 1/2 hours on the side of the road in 90-degree heat on a Friday night where I had dinner plans (these plans were obviously missed). I get home at 8:30pm, a normal 30-minute drive taking 3 hours. I send them an e-mail detailing how they forgot to bolt on my skid plate. Monday they call and I'm told that as long as they have an open bay available, they should be able to get my car in. "What?!" You botch the job and then you're not even guaranteeing that you'll be able to get it fixed the next time I bring it in? They have on their site that they will pick your car up and return it to you, they do not offer me this service. They don't offer a refund, discount or anything, I don't even get an apology in person. The only apology I ever received was via text after they secured my plate. That apology was preceded by the sentence, "There doesn't appear to be GREAT damage to your skidplate". Oh cool, your shop's incompetence damaged my car, but at least it's not "Great" damage. They give you a 20-point inspection when you get an oil change, 6 of those items are "undercar", but apparently nobody noticed a loose skid plate! Which pretty much makes this whole inspection completely worthless as I don't trust it. To put your family name on this business and offer such a crap service is unfathomable to me. I will never come here again. read more

Meckfessel Tire & Auto - They didn't bolt down my skid plate after my oil change leaving me stranded on the side of the road for 3 hours as I waited for AAA to help. - Tires Near Me - Belleville, Illinois

This is my go-to auto shop in the Belleville area!!! A locally owned business, who I fully trust. Funny enough I started posting on Yelp because I almost got screwed trying to get my car fixed years back. Now raving about and sharing my experiences with people to places I love. MeckFessel's Auto and Tire would be one of them. I have brought in my car 10+ times at this point, from oil changes to larger mechanical issues. This business can do it all. An overall diagnostic will be done first on your vehicle, followed by a report with confirmed prices. Then you will approve before anything is completed. If you're having car trouble this is a reliable, affordable, and trustworthy business to come to. Also don't forget to show your AAA card, a discount is offered upon check out!! read more

[As of 6 January 2022] Meckfessel's Tre and Auto...Since 1927. That is over 90 years! I am only a third of that. I'm just trying to say that 90 years is a long time of service. And there has been no interruption since the beginning! I was in desperate need of new tires and I was having difficulties getting some b/c of the aftermarket modifications to my car. Nonetheless, Meckfessel was the answer to my problem. After one phone call, I was dropping my car off in less than 24 hours. Mr. Bob's customer service was the same over the phone as it was in person: the best! Within minutes of checking in, Ben was servicing my vehicle. Total service time to a little over an hour. I was surprised to see they don't use floor covers to protect the car from any debris. Being able to find a local FAMILY business like this is great! They have a certificate of approval from AAA and members are entitled to many benefits. For your tire needs, please come to Meckfessel's Tire and Auto! You get your vehicle fixed plus you are supporting a local business. Everyone wins! fin. read more

I big 5-star THANK YOU and job well done to Meckfessel Tire & Auto! While returning to Virginia from St. Louis for a Mother's Day get together, the tire on my vehicle blew out on the highway near Belleville and was totally shredded. It was my good luck to contact Meckfessel Tire & Auto who were able to fit me in for a replacement tire on a busy Monday morning. Their friendly and efficient team quickly got the replacement tire in place and we were back on the road in no time, and at a good value as well. We made the 700 mile trip back to Virginia without incident. I highly recommend Meckfessel Tire & Auto for your tire service needs. read more

Go some where else they don't know what they are doing. Damaged my vehicle and also never fixed original issue. Came in for oil leak and they told me it was fix just to get home and have the oil leaking still. Tried to charge $1900 extra to fix original issue. Beware read more

Staff unfriendly unless you're white. I didn't purchase ended up buying from Sam's club.

I came in to see how much they would charge me to repair a window that was off track with a possible bad motor. Estimate off the top of his head was $400. After doing a few hours of research, I found the part online, and repaired it myself. Total cost was $38, and only about two hours of research and install on my part read more

We were in last Saturday for tires for our truck. They were prepared, very friendly , kept us updated and the price was exactly what they quoted and a very good price. They have our business in the future ! Great job ! Rob and Denise C read more

Mark.....Thank you for your reply, but I was hoping you were going to address the damaged lug bolt......."would have liked to have given them 5 stars but they rounded off a corner and removed the black finish on a lug and made a small mark with "the bar" on the same rim as the lug" read more

I love this place! They are way less expensive on some things than the dealer I was taking my car to. As an example I needed a belt changed. My dealer was going to charge over $200. Meckfessel did it for less than $90. They give a discount for AAA members plus they have a rewards program so you can accrue credit towards future repair jobs or maintenance work. They are always courteous and very respectful. I never feel like I'm being talked down to like some repair places can make a woman feel. read more

After going to 6 other tire shops in the area these guys finally were able to help me out. I had a heavy duty trailer tire that needed replaced and they were able to order in the tire the same day get me out the door. Very professional customer service (the guy remembered my name when I walked back in to pick it up!!) read more

I love this place! They do great work and they aren't trying to get extra money out of me. My experience here was so great. I came in for 2 new tires and an alignment. First I set it up on their website and the price that was given to me online was ACTUALLY what I paid in store! Guaranteed coming back for all future car troubles in the future! read more

Dropped off tire that had a piece of metal in it, Meckfessel had my tire repaired and placed on my car in 2 hours. Very prompt and friendly service! read more

I'm prejudiced about this place for a family member works there and he is the greatest. But all the from front desk to garage guys are great. All are very helpful and pleasant. All seemed to be truthful even if you don't want to hear it about the repairs etc. They are up to date on make and model and find the parts etc. It is a good choice to try out for great mechanics and ask your questions. Even the owner might be on hand. It is a family business. No, my family member is not part of this family business. I don't think you be sorry if you try them. Probably be glad you did. Doesn't hurt to have another opinion. read more

Service was quick and professional. I like to spend my money in the community where I live. Meckfessel's was the same price as the larger tire outlet with a more professional level of service. I am very pleased with my purchase. read more

The guys at Meckfessels are always up front and honest. Never trying to sell me things I don't need.

I took a tire to Meckfessel to mount and balance. Not only were they super friendly and happily mounted and balanced my tire (even without me purchasing them there), they also were super fast, accommodating, called to verify information, and were so reasonable! Their hours are fantastic (7:30 AM - 5:30 PM) so it makes it beyond easy for me to drop off and retrieve my tire, car, whatever. I have the front two that I will definitely be making an appointment to get taken care of. From Dan to Mandy, everyone I spoke to was friendly, helpful, and courteous. Awesome experience! read more

Our "go to" for auto work. Been using their services for years and have never been disappointed.

Picked up my car the other day and noticed a funny smell. After a few days it started getting worse! Then I realized the coffee cup in my cup holder was half full....and getting nasty!! Took out the cup and the smell disappeared....sorry to blame you guys!! Service is great.....service reps are friendly and know their stuff! read more

I had my car repaired here a few months ago and when I got my car back, there were still some issues with it and they insisted that it was nothing that they did. I ended up having to take my car to another repair shop and sure enough, the job they did and charged for was bogus. Never coming back to this place again and if I were you, I'd take my business elsewhere since they half ___ the job. Thanks for nothing Mark K! read more

This is the second time I have been to Meckfessel and each time they have been great. I recently bought some tires from Tire Rack and had them shipped there to install the tires. I also asked them to check the alignment. After they completed the work the sales person came out and showed me the alignment paperwork and said it was borderline out of limits and he didn't think it would be worth to spend the money to do the small tweaks he would have to do. He suggested we drive the car and if we notice it is pulling to bring it in and he will do the alignment. He could have easily told me it needed an alignment and I wouldn't of known. I appreciate his honesty, professionalism and courteous treatment I received read more
