We had our AC and furnace and windows installed by MT in 2011. They still run great, the windows have been great at reducing noise, dust, etc. The crew shows up earlier than anticipated for the maintenance on the units. Believe me my husband did a lot of research online, the BBB and ask friends and coworkers about heating and cooling companies in El Paso and this company is in the top 5 in our opinion. Sometimes when employees come and go, there may be a shift in the level of service, but overall this company works hard to deliver an exceptional customer experience. I recently had them do a diagnostic check on my Lennox system ($180). It took them 2 days to come to a result with the help of Lennox. They told me that my Lennox keypad and my Lennox router were both bad and gave me a quote of $1800. I thought it was kind of expensive so I wanted to get a second estimate, however in order to do that I needed the original keypad which by unknown reasons the tech took with him. The tech put a temporary pad on to bypass the router and get the system to work. I was told they would call me back after I questioned the estimate, they never called. So I called them and told them I needed my original keypad back to get another estimate. They sent the tech back out and charged me $250 for the cheap temporary keypad and finally gave me my original keypad back. I think they gouged me pretty bad... I might have gone with them for the repair had I got a similar quote, but not after the non communication and the gouge! At least the tech did get my system working $430 later... read more

In the middle of filing a lawsuit against this crooked company. They upgraded our hvac from master cool to refrigerated air. It took 3 months because they contract out the cheapest labor possible. The owner Jaime and brother Alexander Zubiate is unethical and greedy, disgusting, rude, unprofessional, arrogant, and deserve this review and to loose all their business contracts, licenses, etc. Since installation we have had the following dangerous issues - freezing of our HVAC - water leak - Electrical shortages and outages (see photo, literally burned through wires) - hastily unattractive installation of the electrical upgrade - only half of the home has air flow AFTER CONSULTING with several inspectors and professional electricians, these crooks failed to - ground electricity properly up to code - install a complete and safe electrical upgrade - skipped a lot of steps and cut corners on many things to increase profits - only installed a 100amp voltage electrical system for a house and hvac that at MINIMUM needs 200amps!!!! - used PLASTIC instead of copper for many of their "electrical" work From several inspectors " I don't know HOW El Paso Electric passed this dangerous job" ONE SAID "they either knew someone or paid them". When we hired them for installation, their sales person forged a signature and changed our contract. Every person who has entered this home has done a half effort job on everything, and it shows as now I'm terrified my house will burn down if I don't get someone else to come and completely redo the electrical work. Every person who has come to work on our hvac has shown up late, left early, left things undone etc. for the freezing the tech told me to unfreeze with my hair dryer and that it was normal! I also overheard one of the techs say they were paid too little to do this job, makes me think they are being exploited.... Which honestly would be the reason for the dangerously poor job they did on our home. I highly recommend never using this company for any hvac needs or anything. They operate dangerously and unethically. This is going to be very costly and time consuming for me to fix. I am just hoping our lawyer can help us seek justice, and no one else has to go through this! Trust me as Jaime drove up to my mom's home in a 80k vehicle meanwhile he cut so many corners and wayyyyyy overcharged for the job this horrible company did. Do not trust! This company is an embarrassment. Please don't make my mistake and trust the fake google reviews. I had a new system installed by them less than 3 years ago and they've been out multiple times every year during the summer to repair a non functioning AC. The worst is that they now tell me the unit they installed won't work below 72 F. If they told me I can't have the house lower than 72 F there's no way I would have installed it in the first place. Do you think the owners house is sitting at 75 in the summer?? I'm starting to think the whole business is a scam. I've paid for semi annual maintenance and now I'm paying them cash to work on what is "covered by warranty" and they still can't fix the problem! The google reviews are fake. Look at yelp. They'll come out for emergency calls and then leave because there's nothing the untrained AC techs can do with a frozen unit. Working with the BBB and legal representation to try and get compensation for an actually functioning ac with a new company. read more

I had two unique needs, purchase and install a Breezair evap and install a direct vent fireplace for my home. I first pursued the Breezair job with Don. Don was responsive, on time, and provided a good thorough estimate within a reasonable amount of time. All my questions (and I had many) were answered. Alex and his team of installers did a wonderful job. They arrived on time, kept me informed on their progress and cleaned up after themselves. I contacted the office three months later to report a fault indication on the controller panel. The office staff contacted Alex and he responded within the same day and cleared the blockage and the fault. Totally satisfied with their work and responsiveness I then contacted Don again for the next job (fireplace install). Don brought along Raul for the estimate and again I was presented with a reasonable cost estimate. This company is contracted by Lowes hardware, they called to schedule an appointment for a HVAC replacement quote for and no one ever bothered to show up nor call to explain or reschedule. I contacted Lowes and the manager stated someone from Mechanical Technologies will call me back for rescheduling. Yet again, NO call frome this company. They may have offered quality service once upon a time; however, that's not reality now. They left a copper condensation line dangling on the roof (and that's the visible part of their work). I called as soon as I noticed it after they'd left and was told they'd be back the following day. It was a simple fix that should've been included in their work for the high amount they charged. To date,, no one has bothered to show up or to even phone. In my opinion, poor workmanship and business practices lands them with zero credibility. read more

This is the absolute worst contractor to deal with. They will not inform customer, dont show up as scheduled, disappear for over 90 minutes to get some fittings at a nearby home depot, rip holes in your walls, take your old unit with them without notice to the homeowner, and have an employee who says she is the installation manager say she is above the owner of the company when it comes to making decisions. Do not believe a word they say. They will offer one thing and then do another. Thankfully I wont have to deal with them for warranty work since I had them take their unit out. I am sure dealing with them for warranty work is a nightmare. The one star rating had to be done in order to post review....they should be grateful to even get that. read more

I was quoted $1750 for an mini-split AC/heater install. I paid deposit of $875, the day of the install 1 hour prior to appointment time same estimator called me and said he made a mistake and was gonna cost additional $850. Lowe's had connected me with these guys I have a signed contract for work to be performed and the cost. Do not use their service, because they provide none. read more

Horrible experience with this company!! They installed a "new" unit for me and now I have major problems with it. The AC doesn't cool well and the heater takes about an hour to higher just about 2 degrees! Also heater has a gas smell that is unbearable! Recently had a new refrigerated air conditioner installed. I strongly recommend that you spend the extra money to have your unit installed by a recommended company for the brand name of your unit. One month after our unit was installed, an entire new unit had to be installed which they did do free of charge. 4 months after the installation, we had to hire a different company to come fix problems so that our entire house was cooled/heated correctly. It ended costing more than if we had hired a certified installer in the first place. I would not recommend this company read more

Very Incompetent or dishonest technicians. I called for repair of air-conditioning they came out and told me I needed a new compressor which would cost about $28000 later they said they couldn't find a replacement part because it was an R22 and nowhere in El Paso could be found. They say I needed a whole new unit for $4500. I found a good guy who came later and replaced a capacitor for $125 and said compressor was fine and was never tested because capacitor was out. read more

Mechanical Technologies has serviced my units for about six years now. They have installed a new unit in one house and just installed a new motor in another unit. I've always been satisfied with their work. I had an appointment to get my unit checked last Friday, but they could not get onto the high roof because they needed a special ladder, so they sent someone, Daniel, on Sunday. Daniel was very professional and came back today at 7:30am to fix the unit. I've never had a problem with anyone not showing up on time and always get a call in advance of when they will be there. For example, today they said 7:30 and I was impressed that they made it right on time. I appreciate the Sunday and early appointments due to my work schedule. The women who answer the phones are also efficient and courteous. I will continue to call them to service our units. read more

BEWARE OF LOOPHOLES IN WARRANTIES THEY OFFER!! About less than a month a go, I called Mechanical Technologies because my refrigerated air was not working on a Saturday afternoon. Reason I called was because when I bought the house, they were the ones that had done the work. I figure it would be the most legit thing to do....wrong. When I called the company, I was told that the labor part warranty had already exceeded the one year, BUT the parts were still under a 5 year warranty. Once I was told about the warranties, I still went with them...figuring all parts were covered, that would help in the wallet. When the technician guy showed up and figured out what was wrong, he told me that he didn't carry that part (fan) with him. He did say that he had the part in the warehouse but a $75 fee would be charged to open up the warehouse. I agreed to pay figuring it would be done ASAP. Within the hour, the technician came back with the part and installed it in 15 min. Well, when he gave a bill of $400 plus, I asked if this was just labor? He replied, no its parts and labor. I was confused being that I was told that the parts were under warranty! I even asked, are you sure because your center told me the parts were under warranty. He replied that he was not aware of what was under warranty. That Monday morning, I called the offices and was told by a lady "Darlene" that parts weren't under warranty. She explained that since the warehouse had to be opened and the part had to be pulled from the shelf it was not covered, because it was a special order. How can a part they have on the shelf, in their own warehouse be a special order?! I then replied, why was I told that the parts were under warranty then?! She went on to say that she didn't know and that I should be glad that it got fixed that day and not a week later. EXCUSE ME?! Its not like I planned it......and furthermore I payed for the labor, it's not like they went to my house for free!!! Three weeks later, my air went out again......to my surprise it happened on a Saturday!! I should've have learned my lesson after the first time, but I went with the original installers. I explained to a lady, Diana, about being charged for parts the first time. I explained to her that I was told that ALL PARTS were under warranty and told her about my first encounter. Needless to say, she was very courteous and understanding. The technician showed up that day and solved the problem with my unit. Since he had the part with him but was an electrical component, it was not covered under the warranty. I explained my first situation to him and to my surprised he was shocked that they charged me on a part that was under warranty. The way he explained to me was that anything inside the cage of the fan unit was cover under warranty....anything outside is considered electrical and doesn't fall under the warranty. He was very courteous and an advised me he would take the information and relay it to higher people. Today, Diana called me and explained to me that the warranty had been voided because they had to get it from their warehouse; as opposed to taking my part out, sending it and getting a new one in return from the manufacture. I explained to her that it was not fair. Nobody told me that my warranty went out the window because their warehouse was opened and a part was taken from the shelf (special order they called it). WHAT PART OF ALL PARTS HAVE WARRANTY FOR 5 YEARS DID I FORGET TO UNDERSTAND?!! Apparently, you have to read the fine print.......oh yeah, nobody told me about this!! Like I explained to Diana, I could have gone with other companies or technicians and had gotten it less expensive, but since I was under the impression that it was under warranty I proceeded to go with them, the original installers. What a rip off this so called warranty!!! BEWARE OF THE SO CALLED WARRANTIES FROM THIS COMPANY......ASK QUESTIONS! HAVE THEM PUT IT IN WRITING!!! read more
