I'm really loving volunteering for this wonderful organization. They make sure that healthy meals are provided for home-bound people who can't cook for themselves. Most often this includes the elderly and people experiencing poverty, but there aren't any age or income restrictions.
Volunteering is such a tiny time impact it's almost silly. I spend two hours once a month driving to client's homes delivering a hot and cold meal, a smile and a friendly greeting. That's really it. It's so fast and rewarding. I feel good all week about spending those moments with them. And I'm a foodie so I really believe that everyone should have access to good food. This is my small way of making it happen. Route deliveries happen from 11:15ish to 1ish, depending on how many people are on your route and how fast you are. Max route occupancy is 12 so if you have a flexible work environment you can get this done during your lunch break. I've been doing this a few months now and I plan to keep it up for a long time to come. If you're a busy person and looking for a way to give back that won't create havoc on your schedule, MOW is for you! read more
