Luckily my tenant was home, and watched him pick up a cellphone (one that one of my party guests had dropped and thought he had lost) and put it in his backpack. I confronted the owner and he was able to get the phone back from his employee. I had to drive down to Ithaca to get it back and return it to my guest. I can only assume that the employee who took the phone "cleans up" after weddings, parties, etc. at the expense of party guests who leave their phones, wallets, watches, etc. on or around the tent, never to see them again. What started out good left a horrible taste in my mouth. What else has this employee of Rick's taken that doesn't belong to him? Had he done the right thing and placed the cell phone on my porch or mailbox with a small note, this would have been a 5+ star review, and a small reward for honesty would have been sent to the young man who found the phone. There was no clear cut provenance on this particular piece. However, they went out of their way to insure me that it was real as a result of the other high end bidders. They did not reveal their identity but assured me that those in the industry had assured them of the authenticity. They also sent me links on similar items that helped reassure me. After I won the auction piece they were able to make special arrangements for delivery since the piece was extremely fragile. I also looked at their Tiffany selection which I thought was very good. Their bid fees are very reasonable in comparison to some other auction houses. I will use them again.
